Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 69F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

I've had my fill of expensive cars, and worrying about parking lot dings, theft, or the next techno gismo FUBAR took almost all the enjoyment away from me. Then there were those accompanying expensive insurance premiums. Does that make me old?

Purchased more glue and block in town yesterday, and scrounged up enough aluminum from the scrap bins to make the shims, but I'm torn between working on the van or redoing the level on the shipping container today. Or I could chuck it all and put the engine back together on the naked bike, and get a sizable chunk of workbench back. It's an opportunity rich environment.:confused2:

Yesterday morning I stumbled across something of a calibration procedure to be followed to reset the idle speed after the battery is disconnected, or the memory reset, on a Subaru engine. It seems that the engines "learn" in use, and need a little help in the beginning. I followed the procedure, which mainly involved turning the key on and waiting before starting the engine so that the computer had time to set the idle valve to a neutral value, then running the engine long enough for it to reach operating temperature, then repeating the steps one more time. At the end, I used the diagnostic app to set the idle to 750 RPM, more or less because the computer was varying it by plus/minus 25 or so RPMs. Anyway, for the first time ever (and I'm probably jinxing myself by writing this), the Check Engine Light didn't come on through the whole trip to town and back. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

TGIF gang!:drink:

20°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 44° today.

Finally got the headless guitar mounts on the wall last night. Seems like it's going to work just fine ... which is a good thing, since I had it customized with my initials. The body of the guitar doesn't sit on the bottom mount, but rather on the end of the tuners. Not too fond of that, so I'll build that up with some felt to fix it. The guy who made it told me he wasn't sure it would work with this particular guitar (was designed for a Steinberger headless), as he didn't have one to test it. I told him I guess I'd be his beta tester. Decided to go ahead and put up a hanger for the acoustic bass guitar while I was at it. I've been thinking of getting rid of it, since I haven't used it in several years. It's just been taking up floor space and is always in the way. Now it's on the bass wall, between the 6-string bass and the upright bass (which is on a stand in the corner), and out of the way. Still need to replace the tuners on it at some point.

68°F and no rain

Off to Hilo town this morning. Breakfast with wife, pick up my new glasses, a few errands. Then back to prepping for the install. Had a great talk with installer yesterday, he’s liking my strange ideas.
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

27F clear sky 40F for high.

Critters fed E muffin time.:licking:
Yesterday afternoon until dark spent the time at logging site chatting with men,as I was leaving boss man said "come on back I'll put you to work operating equipment" I am temped.
Plans for today little puttering than relocate couple game cams near bog, other than that take the day as it comes.

Enjoy the day all.

The week after my wife retired as a school librarian she got all excited when she saw an ad for a new librarian at the San Diego zoo, said she would love to work at the zoo.I said "No way, you're retired and that"s it. That afternoon we took a drive up to Ramona and as we passed the Safari Park of the zoo, where the library is located,I had a brain storm and said "I'll bet they have volunteer program and would love to you".As soon as we got home she was on the computer and got herself signed up for 1 day per week which she still does and loves it.

It turned out to be a good deal that she didn't go for the full time gig as she was diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 months later and a full time job would have made it a lot tougher.

Anyway,Thomas, maybe you could work out a part time deal with them that would work for both of you. Good luck either way.

Clearing up here slowly after a rain last night...already 47 going to the 50s. I have some firewood to work on once things dry out.

Buppies, hope things go well for Tyrin...that's gotta be tough.

Still moving things around after downsizing my MIL and selling her house. Took some nice things to Goodwill yesterday.

Overcast this morning.. rain predicted for the weekend. I need to make sure the walkbehind snowblower is ready, make sure the generator has some fuel treatment and full tank, top off the ZT with fuel and make sure it is treated... I'm sure wife has some things she wants done too.

Best laid plans....

Tundra battery dead. Once 50% attempted restart presented array of idiot lights. All went out when started.
Back to dealer.
Wife has expressed vote of non confidence longterm.
Guess part of weekend will be research.

Still have to pick up glasses etc, but not breakfast and dogs miss their truck ride.

It was a clear and sunny 16ºF for today’s low temperature and a clear and sunny 43ºF afternoon high. Looking at next week’s probable bad weather into midweek I spent most of the day breaking down firewood into kindling with my electric wood splitter. I have enough kindling now to probably make it into January/February. I also took a trip to the local smokehouse;). If I am going to eat “bad” foods I want them at least to be high quality bad foods. Plan for tomorrow = completely fill my kindling crib.

I got my Tundra brand new for $13K with the 150% Blue Book valuation of my recalled Tacoma that failed frame inspection in 14 areas of the frame. The Dealer pulled my registration on the spot and I got a free rental of a fancy Ford 150. I probably spent close to cost of a new Tundra on repairs. :(

The Brogenmobile® is a Daihatsu Hijet Deck Van with automatic transmission, push button 4x4, power steering, power brakes, 4 power windows, air conditioning/heat,*...

David- I was glad to read that you got your Tundra back; was not happy about the $, the poor attitude of the service manager, and now a return visit to the dealer.. I do not see another Toyota vehicle in my future any time soon; maybe my next time around.

Randy- Ellen bought it will she ever have a chance to operate it? I’ve been looking at Jeep pickups. Your son bought a really nice truck.

BEF- The rice dish looks like really good (HOT) eats. Wifey makes something similar to make stuffed peppers.

Drew- I was on a really decent whale watch cruise with my Canon A1 and a 100 - 400mm zoom lens. I got a lot of decent pictures:cool: unfortunately there was no film in the camera.:embarrassed:

“… I've had my fill of expensive cars, and worrying about parking lot dings, theft, or the next techno gismo FUBAR”- RNG My parked Tundra seems to be a magnet for door dings and rear ended by trucks with trailer hitches. I would like to be able to hose out my next vehicle.

Paul- Your guitars are really art pieces when hung on a wall. Thanks for sharing.

Randy- I hope you get some decent seat time ASAP and that you and Ellen have a great hookup with Drew.

Buppies- My + thoughts and prayers for Tyrin

I hope that everyone has a decent Friday night and weekend.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Ellen and I had a great lunch with Drew, always enjoy his company! Great Cob Salad, too.

Got the tractor just before lunch so I didn’t have a lot of time. I mowed a stretch in back my hired guy always skipped, then moved a downed pine tree, shoved some brush into the woods, filled a small sink hole and tried out the grader box. That thing is great!

Sweet tractor.

   / Good morning!!!! #102,140
nice looking tractor Randy. Another happy Massey owner.

six hour drive home, rain, 4pm Friday afternoon traffic other side of Chesapeake bridge, just a big jam up for quite a ways, until the exit actually for 17 South.
And then the rain really came down. Plus it got really gusty, which now that I'm reading the weather reports says gusts up to 40mph.

annoyed at myself for forgetting to get a picture of Randy and Ellen, took the camera into the restaurant and just forgot.
She is a real sweetheart, but you knew that...

going to curl up with my book and hopefully have an early night as the rain comes down
