Good morning.

37 and going to a high of 52°F. Wind SSW 9 mph. A mix of sun and cloud.

A good day to change oil and grease the tractor and lawnmowers. A town run is in the cards, first.

Have a good day all

Can you shoot the hogs on sight? Or do you have to wait until a particular month and then have restricted calibres.

In Texas, you don't even need a hunting license to hunt them.

You just need to stay up late a night. I need my beauty sleep.

I should have guessed I would find a good number of mattock appreciators on TBN.

BEF, that mortice and tenon fence has lots of character, did you put it in ? I have often wondered with that style of fencing, how you would go about replacing a broken rail or post without digging it all up. Life is pretty good at the moment, so please don't reveal any secrets if it means you have to kill me afterwards

I installed it. If you use the proper post spacing, the rails will slide to one side enough to get them out if needed. Except for a bend in the fence, then they get tight. Install each section at a time makes it easier.

In the middle of this fence, one of the posts is in a pvc pipe sleeve, so I can remove the rails on both sides and remove the post. I did it once when a semi truck pulled in to deliver my barn trusses and it was going to be hard to back out. He drove out through the yard, thru the fence opening to the road.

This is pressure treated, so they don’t last as long as when they were locust wood. It is over 10 yrs, I’ve replaced a couple posts already. One is leaning now, just left of the white pine.

Good morning. It's 56° and foggy here this morning and headed to 84° this afternoon. Maybe some rain starting tomorrow.

I stayed up too late, watching the baseball game, and not running full speed this morning.

Hope everyone has a great start to your week.

Prayers to all.

And when the generator quits? Back to peace and quiet!:cloud9:

It seemed to take a bit more cranking to get it fired up this morning, but I was pleased that it ran almost all day yesterday and only used 2 1/2 gallons of gas.

Google shows the bend in the fence. This photo is so last year.

I just removed 7 sections of this type of fence from between house and shed. It was about 20 yrs old. I used to have an enclosed play area when the kids were little. Then I removed part of it when the kids got older, part of it became the front fence.

55° and sunny.

Not sure about today’s project. Maybe attack the chain hoist issue again. First got a guy coming to house that needs help with moving pictures off a camera to email to someone. His computer or email is acting up.

Also need to mow leaves. The pretty maple behind house is almost bare. Oaks won’t drop for awhile. I need a power broom, got so many acorns on ground. Now that oaks are getting big, grass doesn’t grow as well under the trees.

The low this morning looks to be -2°. The high yesterday was 19° with a couple of inches of snow , today is going to be in the high teens again and partly cloudy with 15-20 mph wind. Tomorrow is going to be colder with a chance of 5-6 inches of snow.

I have a friend on his way out to go elk hunting. But I-80 is closed from Cheyenne to Rawlins and they are not sure when it will be opened back up. It may put us back a day or two but it will all work out.

My oldest grandson got his first deer yesterday in Utah. He was hunting with my daughters boyfriend. He is the grandson that is legally blind.

I hope everyone gets well and stays well.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 6:15AM. Sunny. High near 70F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Thanks for posting the conductor size calculator. The longest run will be 250', and with 1/0 copper, that's a 5% voltage drop. 240V -> 220V. Is that OK? I dunno... More homework needed.

There are hog problems in CA as well. Haven't seen any evidence of them in this area, though. Hunting is OK all year round, but I'm pretty sure you need a hunting license, and that means hunter safety training. Not a bad thing in my mind.

The No Trespassing sign I had up on the front gate was so badly faded the letters were all but gone. Yesterday I fired up the stencil cutter and made new stick on letters in black vinyl, so it'll be interesting to see how long that lasts. Punched a few more holes for zip ties, too, which get brittle in the sun and break.

The Kincaid Fire doubled in size overnight to 54,000 acres, with containment dropping to 5%. The winds should moderate somewhat today, so hopefully the rate of spread should drop. It's coming up against US101 on the west side, and hopefully firefighters can keep it from crossing. It's already started spot fires in Windsor, a fairly large community north of Santa Rosa. One of the local TV stations is posting links to a pretty good map showing evacuation zones, fire perimeter, and MODIS satellite data. The MODIS data is updated a few times a day, so it's the best indicator I've found of current fire activity.

The winds caused power lines to fall in several places locally, but no fires because the power was off. One fire was reported in a home where the owner was back feeding his generator through a 110V outlet. It was quickly extinguished. No reports of problems with CO, yet. A new CO detector was delivered last week, so I'll try to find time today to get it installed in the alarm system. PG&E is forecasting more PSPSs starting Tuesday, and said power may not come on today in all areas. That turns out to be the case, it would make this the longest outage yet at four days.

Went to make a phone call yesterday and found the land line down. AT&T's website trouble reporting page wasn't working, but I caught a good moment when the cell reception was, and was able to report the outage. It was working again when I got up this morning. I don't know what I'd have done had the cell reception been bad, as it is this morning.:confused2: Ov course, there was no notification of any kind from AT&T of the repair.:muttering:

The veneer of civilization is very thin.

The shipping container is supposed to be delivered today. That should be interesting.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

We got a total of 1.51” of rain with yesterday’s rain event. A cloudy, drizzly 46ºF for today’s low temperature; a humid 48ºF presently; and I anticipate a drizzly afternoon high temperature in the mid50ºF’s, maybe higher if the sun ever shows. Sunshine looks to be a rare event this work week with clouds and intermittent rain showers possibly daily until the next weather event Thursday-Friday. Today will probably be a day to putter around and try to avoid getting wet outside. My Tundra developed a serious shake yesterday; I hope it is just an under inflated tire although the low tire pressure idiot light has not so indicated. My Tundra was not on the frame recall list.

Paul- I hope that you are on the mend.

Phil- There is a correlation between mast crops and ticks. More mast = more rodents = more ticks the following year :(

Rick- Nice cleanup job until the next time. Is there a reason why they are rutting up that particular area?

Bruce- There are feral swine in VT and NH; probable escapees from game preserves. They are considered private property of the game preserves if I understand the laws correctly. Within the NH preserve one needs permission from the preserve. The VT preserve is now closed. I do not think there have been reports of feral swine in MA (so far).

RNG- I hope that you continue to remain out of harm’s way and your generator AKA chick attractor remains operational.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Monday.

My + thoughts and prayers.
