Ted- Thanks for sharing your world today.

I am now in "Winter Mode" as to daily weather information gathering, and I do not see snow happening around here till sometime mid to late November at this point. :( A couple of "cold" shots and rain through the end of October, and temperature-wise a "warm" early November.

68°F and 0 rain this morning.

Nothing officially scheduled for the day, but I’m sure it will be interesting.

Maybe take dogs for a ride in their truck to PO this morning, just because we can

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning!!!! 75F @ 9:45AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High around 90F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Still under a Red Flag Warning, and the winds were strong and gusty most of the night. Strong enough to slam the master bedroom door shut at about 3AM, what a rude awakening that was!

Power went off at about 3PM yesterday, and remains off. As usual, no word from our beloved power company on when they might see fit to turn the juice back on, but not likely until late today when the RFW expires at 4PM. Also as usual, the generator fired up without hesitation, but then several hours later, in the dark, unexpectedly died, complaining of an overload. After futzing a bit, I remembered I'd left the small air compressor on in the garage, and when it tried to start it overloaded the genny. Once it was shut off, the generator went back to behaving itself, and continues to do so.

Got confirmation from the shipping container company that they think access to the pad will be OK, and the neighbor was over with his monster backhoe in the afternoon to finish the pad. He found the rock my FEL bucket was bouncing off of; it was about three feet long and half that around. In fact, he found a lot of rock, and spent a good amount of time scratching at it with the hoe until he got everything level and to the right depth. The laser level really came in handy there, with me poking the stick here and there as he worked back and forth, and bending over to toss out rocks that had found their way into the gravel that he spread on the pad for drainage. He also pushed the south end of the pad out to the little approach road that ends at the back porch, making a nice ramp up to the pad that is level side-to-side for easy transport of firewood pallets. Might also be a good approach for the container truck and trailer, but that will be up to the driver on Monday.

Also got the new line on my backhoe yesterday, but still need to refill the tank with oil and give it a bath with degreaser.

I want to give the red bike I rode last weekend the once over today, and then a bath to clean up the bugs. Tried to fix the non-blinking left turn signal yesterday, but it has healed on its own. Pretty sure I haven't seen the last of that one.

But I'll probably start out the day with a little housekeeping so my guests this evening don't find out what a slob I really am. Besides, yesterday's excavations put a lot of dust in the air, some of which found their way inside. I'm leaving the cob webs in place though, because Halloween's coming up fast and I'm not one to turn down free decorations.:D

Lou- We'll see what happens.

RNG- It's good to read that your generator is working as expected and your site is leveled with your neighbor's assistance. Good luck with the backhoe line.

This morning also brings news that, despite our utilitie's precautions, a wildfire started at about 11PM last night, and has now grown to something like 10,000 acres. This time it's in Sonoma County, near the little town of Geyserville, in the US101 corridor. Our route tomorrow to the coast will take us about 25 miles north of there.

My sister's son and family, who did not enjoy their Redding fire experience, and moved much further South, must think the fires are chasing them.
Santa Rosa isn't much further South than that.

finished cleaning out the rv, will turn off refrigerator shortly and cushion the doors open to dry.
Then I asked my neighbor to come over tomorrow and watch the roof as I go under the shed for the first time.

other neighbors who I had shared my blueberry and blackberry crop with, then shared with me the bounty, five jars of blackberry/blueberry preserves, all from
my bushes. I of course had to find time for a bagel, preserves were yummy.

lawn stopped growing, have leaves to mulch but waiting until tomorrow

have a gallon ziploc bag full of sweet peppers, last batch picked.
Think I'll make steak sandwiches with onions and peppers for dinner.
Then I'll chop up rest and put them in freezer along with the tomatoes.

Jam sounds good, and a level spot for a container is surely good. But you can keep the snow LS.

Beautiful weather here, sunny and 67° for the high after a frosty morning.

Wife drove the BAT mobile and we picked up a ton of wood pellets. Just got them in the barn. Tomorrow I will swap the new to the back. Might get another ton to be safe. Just over 2 tons in my stock. Price up to $289 a ton this yr.

But you can keep the snow LS.

Send the snow to Texas. LS are you sure you don't just live close to a cotton gin that kind of looks like my wife's grandparents house during the late summer that was next door to the cotton gin.

Ron I like the size of the iPhone 8 but the battery and camera of the 8plus. I think I'll go with the 8 because I just like sticking it in my pocket and get my wife the 8plus. I'll be keeping an eye open for the best Black Friday sales. The 8 will also charge on the Stinger charging pad, the pad the corvette will get NEXT year.

RNG I was just going to start replacing parts in the refrigerator when I got the November Sales add from Costco. This counter depth refrigerator will be $1000 off.
