Coffee is done brewing. 47° mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 68° with mostly sunny skies. No rain in forecast until Saturday. Cut lawn again today. Take Sassy to the Vet. Getting ready to have her fixed. Garden pond needs a little maintenance. That should be enough for today.

Don, hope you get ice maker fixed.

Roy, glad you enjoyed the days off.

Rick & Eric, I have a full set of air nailers. Most are Porter Cable. Bought 3 HF pin nailers. Hammer part would jam up on HF nails. They all failed. Bought a PC pin nailer. It has been flawless. Be interested in how well the battery operated one works.

Thomas, maybe time for 2 E muffins. :licking:

Wngsprd, Pepe La Pew has not been around here lately. Please do not chase him back up here.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 5:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 88F. Winds light and variable.

Was it the nailers or the nails, Ron? The nails I've been getting at HD seem to work fine, but as often as HF changes suppliers and designs, anything could happen.:confused2:

Power came back on sometime around 1PM yesterday and the Red Flag Warning petered out at 5. Now there's a Fire Watch Warning starting Wednesday, running into Friday, for the strongest offshore winds since 2017. Low humidity, too. Looks like the generator is gonna get an even longer workout.:confused3:

Before I shut the generator off yesterday, I used the volt amp meter on it to make some measurements, and also learned that it doesn't put out enough juice to start the A/C or either of the air compressors. And with both well pumps running, it's at about two-thirds of capacity.

It did get windy here, enough to shift the new cover on the fire truck enough that it needs straightening out again. Need to find a better way of strapping it down.

The rest of the day was spent documenting which wire goes where on the Engine Management Unit on the van. There are almost a hundred pins on the computer, and a bit more than half of them have wires attached. I downloaded what looks like an official Subaru shop manual that tells what a wire should have on it and what it's supposed to be hooked up to, but when I compare that to what's actually there, I find wires where there shouldn't be any and no wires where they're needed. That's partly because the EMU is talking to a VW instead of a Subaru, but I think there are a few mistakes as well. More digging is on the agenda for today.

First, though, I need to find another electrician, so that's number one on the job list.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

RNG, not sure. I gave up after the third one failed. Got a refund on nails and gun.

I use the Porter Cable 23 gauge pin nails only and never any problems. I use the PC Brad nails also.

I’ve got an old Craftsman brad nailer that’s as reliable as my dog, I use either Sears or HD brads. Built a set of shelves and repaired a dresser drawer with it last spring.

Going to about 80 today, then maybe some rain and 65 tomorrow. No measurable rain here in weeks.

Good morning to everyone! Had our first frost here this morning, going up to a high of 68.... Nice.

It's been a difficult few weeks, but we are through most of it.... Thanks to my son, DIL, and neighbor. The "cottage" was completed enough to move into this past weekend. All that is left inside is some misc. "final touches" and fine tuning where things go. It has been a loooonnngg struggle trying to accomplish this project/move with the knee issues going on. A lot of people stepped up and did a lot (all of) the heavy work. We are thankful and grateful for all the help.

I have still not received any date confirmation for the knee replacement surgery, probably won't happen until after the new year begins. The bad news is that when my employer was given the report, they have decided to "separate " my employment. I am "eligible" to be rehired for a position suitable for my "disability". All my medical, dental, and life insurance will cancel at the end of this month. Not good news at all.....very depressing....

So, I thought that they could not do this since I was injured while "on the job", returned to light duty, and was re-injured by another employee while I was "on the job" ......nope....all legal....
I spoke with an attorney who informed me that they are quite within the law. In other words, I'm screwed.....
COBRA insurance would cost more than half of my current disability pay....can't do that....
We have exhausted just about all of our savings just paying the for the mortgage and other costs over the past year and a half.
We will be ok financially now that my son is buying the 'big house', but it will be tight for the next year.

The ortho surgeon told me that I will never be able to return to work as a "paramedic on the streets", so a new career search will be in the works soon. I just have to wait until after the surgery and see what the outcome will be....another depressing situation.
I am a tough S*B and will just deal with the pain until then.

RonJ, I hope you are doing well...

Kyle, I hope your kids enjoyed the Balloon Fiesta.... Sunday's show was fantastic!

There was way too many things to remember about what you guys have been doing.... I 'll get caught up and be back on regularly.

I hope everyone is doing OK. Have a great start to the week. Prayers have been sent for all!

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Ted, really sorry you are going through this. If the initial injury was WC and you are now left unable to do that occupation, you may be eligible for some kind of permanent WC benefit. Hope the attorney talked to you about that but anything legal should be offline.

was out watering shrubs when a small thunderstorm went through, almost total whiteout, by the time I got back to barn it stopped and I was pretty wet, but
I was getting wet anyway...back out I went, did my two barrels of water.

Now to work on the rv, might give it its first bath.

LS, wow. How is it legal?

Deep down I’m afraid of the same thing since I’ve been out 3 months now. My job was protected by FML up to a week ago. Then I had to apply for an ADA disability, but I honestly don’t know what that does for me. Unless my LTD gets approved, I’m on LWOP currently. I think next week I might try to go to work.

IMG_1761.JPGmy PC Brad nailer.

It’s really can’t shoot big enough nails for door trim.

Unfortunately I did the whole house with a hammer. Don’t remember why I bought the Brad nailer, but I needed it for something small.

It does work on the small side of trim. I use 6 and 4s finish on trim.

47°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 72° today.

Finally got the escaped gravel raked and shoveled out of the ditch on Saturday and back into the giant holes in the driveway. Used a garden rake, a flat end shovel, and a wheel barrow. Every muscle in my body is still sore today. Wife started painting the remainder of the doors, since we finally got a weekend where we could open windows.

Sunday was a loss outside, as it rained on and off for most of the day. Didn't get much, maybe 1/10th of an inch, just enough to keep everything wet. I stayed in and worked on the guitar project, while The Wife continued cursing at why she ever thought french doors were a good idea.

Not sure about any promotions here, RNG. As the Quality Manager, I answer to the President. Unless his father (the owner) suddenly adopts me, there's not really anywhere up for me to go. As for pay, when we negotiated the details before I started, he actually offered me significantly more than I requested. I said I'd take more vacation time in lieu of some pay, and he gave me both. Making more now than I did even in aerospace, and I'm good with that. We have our problems here, and some days are frustrating, but I'm probably here for awhile ... until I decide to end my slow rolls, too.

Gosh, Ted, that's a very bitter pill to swallow. Seems like the employer was leaving the door open a crack for a different position, though, or is the situation really that hopeless? Also, there's good attorneys, and bad attorneys, maybe a better answer is to be found by interviewing different ones. I'm no expert, but do lawyers specialize in legal matters related to employment and disability claims? Is the idea of filing a civil suit for damages out of the question, or is it too tough to prove them liable or negligent?

On the bright side, it also sounds like you and the family have been making good progress on your long term plans, and your escape from New Mexico. And you're a pretty sharp cookie, and with the job market starting to perk up, I hope you can find an opportunity where you can excel.

Wow, took a few days off of computers.. had a massage last Friday, a couple hours of killing time (Harbor Freight, Quilting store and lunch), then Chiropractor visit. I was sore after massage, then in HF, the low back pain was bad, chiropractor was not happy, she felt I should be good to go. She did the adjustments and suggested another appt next Friday..

I rested Friday and then Saturday we decided to change the front hub/wheel bearings/abs sensors on wife's Tahoe. I had ordered the parts from Rockauto so had them on hand.. took driver sie apart, rested back, put new parts in, wheel on, etc.. took a rest, then took passenger side apart, had a rest, then put it back together wrong, had to take apart again and do it right.. at some point, my wife pushed the brake pedal with the caliper uninstalled so ended up doing brake pads on that side (clip was bent up, one pad worn more than other).. decided to wait on driver side brake.. n

Needless to say, I was wore out and sore... sore enough we stayed home Sunday morning from church, muscles were sore, back was fine. I needed the workout, I know my back is on the mend for sure and may need an adjustment once in while.

We have been trying to get the deck redone all summer, have the old deck torn out, have the decking boards, just need to build infrastructure.. decided this morning that in our current shape, we won't get it done this fall so postponed it until spring.

We will be moving the total gym to the living room where we can both use it to get stronger and more limber. Should have never allowed it to be moved where it is not used..

Lots of folks with challenges, took awhile to get caught up after being off a few days.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need.

Thanks all for sharing and encouraging.
