Went to the Dentist, had a heavy discussion about extra fees added to every bill... I call BS ! I am contacting the insurance company to verify this FEE thing ! I will at least find out if they are good charges.

Having a cup of coffee, trying to determine what to do for the rest of the day.

Got the trench finished that will supply power and water to my Patio/Cover, Fireplace, and Potting Shed, using the little Max28XL TLB.
As I have said the ground around here is very hard, and the little girl works her butt off ! Waiting to hear from BXpanded.com about a Piranha Edge for my BH.

Patio Cover is up, electrics being installed as I type, ended up costing a little more than the quote but agreed too cost. 34 feet long x 17.5 feet deep... about $11/sq. ft., Alumawood, no maintenance... hopefully.

Should have all of the PVC connected and wires run for the Fireplace and Potting Shed this evening after the Patio Cover Guys finish up, made it to the Patio Cover Post this AM, left it for the Installers to finish t up for the Cover electrics !

After the electrical is completed, Water Pipes are next.

Not too warn today, started around the low 60s, 71 now headed for a high of... 83... going to be a great outdoor day.

Gotta get my Honey-Do list together.

The electrical is completed except the Flood Lights, I got them today, should be up tomorrow.
The LED Can Lights... asked for 4000K Light Temp, brighter white, even 5000K would be good. I turned on the light at evening fell and the lights are yellowish, more warn white, probably around the 3000K Light Temperature. The Owner of the business that put in the Cover went on Vacation after the Cover was completed. His Office Manager replay to my e-mail about the color of the light, he contacted the owner and they will get new lights installed after he returns. I it happens, that will make me fell good, and good customer service.

I am also adding additional outside flood lighting to the barn, all Photo Cell Motion detecting, should light the yard up really well.

Temp tomorrow around the low 80's, should be good outside working, finished the lighting and start on the outdoor fireplace... metal studs and 1/2 cement board, doing a gas log, no more wood gathering and piling, and getting tired just moving wood.

I make my own horseradish. Simple ingredients = grated horseradish root + vinegar, that requires lots of extra efforts involving water baths, open windows, holding one's breath, and maybe a fan to manage the fumes that can take one's head off. The finished product is just as potent, but manageable in small portions.. It will definitely clear one's nasal cavities.

good evening all. 73F for the start, cloudy sky, calm wind. Some peaks of sun, periods of light drizzle, light wind moderate gusts, high temp was 82 HI 87. Slow start to the day, bike ride in the morning, was going to get wood but the guy went fishing on me, did get nap in.
David, I always thought the Big Island was neat, we were able to do a day trip there.

Mowed until the fuel level warning light came on then hot footed it to the shed. Made it without running out of diesel. One more go with the rotary cutter and hopefully all the rocks picked up I think I’ll try the flail.
Did enjoy a nice porter, but didn’t get a nap.

Now Don, how can you not like horseradish? I grew up near a local horseradish grower, Kelchners in PA, and my house guest
asked what she could bring down for me today. Kelchners! can't get it here at all. Cocktail sauce is so good you just want to cook
some shrimp for it. Even better, take their cocktail sauce and mix in about a third straight horseradish. Your eyes go wide and you breathe
in deeply through your nose and go whoa.

Scrambler, I'm with you. I think dental charges have just gotten out of hand. 175 for a cleaning, 225 for a filling. It was only a few years ago
charges were half that. And any kind of work is a thousand a tooth.

What do you use to clean up the brick face after you're done re-pointing, Eric?

On the hand made bricks with reasonable width of joints, I don't really have anything to clean up. Narrow vertical joints on engineered brick are a different matter, I'm not good enough to not leave mortar marks, though I've found an easy way to clean up so I don't need to worry about keeping the brick face clean while pointing. With this being relatively soft lime mortar, I can easily blast it off with a jet washer provided I keep it way from the finished joint once it has had a few weeks to fully go off.

Nowadays soft sand and cement mortar has replaced "old fashioned" lime mortar made with sharp sand. Cement is useful because it hardens so quickly, yet in most other respects, in the longer term the old stuff is a better material for brick walls.

If I was building a house from scratch and had plenty of time to do it, lime would be my first choice. There is no rush to use up a mix, it will last all day and tools and mixer can be easily cleaned. If there is any movement, it gives and self-heals instead of cracking and is vapour permeable. For those eco minded people, it takes less energy to produce than cement, lasts much longer and if the time comes to take a wall down, is easy to clean off and recycle the bricks.

Good morning. It looks more like mid summer than late September, with an abundance of sunshine delivering just the right amount of warmth. Lots of tractor sounds yesterday and will be same today as everyone makes the most of the weather and the last chance to take some grass for winter.

I've always liked shrimp cocktail and many years ago, one evening, I found that I had shrimp, but was out of cocktail sauce. So I mixed a little catsup with horse radish sauce that was on hand, and liked it so much that I never bought cocktail sauce again. I just mix catsup and horse radish sauce about 50/50 and dip my shrimp in that. And in fact, I had some of that each of the last two days.

Speaking of the real world, that was exactly the thought I had yesterday as we hiked down from the mountain top and starting getting near the parking area...time to reenter the real world. The hike was great - upper 40s early, hiked up into the clouds and then started clearing and reached the upper 50s. Saw a lot of deer and lots of wildflowers. There were many trees already in their red or yellow fall outfits.

Good morning all. Headed to 100F (normal should be about 89F) today. I'm off, but have errands to run.

Today is my wifey's birthday. She makes things so easy for me, she's already bought her present. I just have to get a card. I usually make her a cake, but she made a cake the day before. She's headed out for lunch later with 2 of her girlfriends. We will go out as a family for dinner tomorrow night. Tonight is high school football!

Chickens are doing well. I bought 2 more bags of feed yesterday. Have been having about 75% lay rate each day, although the new neighbor kids made a box nest at their house and 1 chicken I believe lays over there.

My phone went off twice last night with some alert or something. I'm becoming immune to alerts.....I know, bad habit.

Eric, did not know the differences in mortars.

NWS says it's 74 degrees going for a high of 90 today with a 60% chance of rain. I'm hoping, but not too optimistic. Two months ago today we both got our first Singrix shot, so I reckon we might go get the second one. Just don't know whether it makes any difference whether we go now or wait a bit more.

I don't eat it either. I wipe off the cocktail shrimp before I eat them.
