Thanks for the thought, Hawkeye, but I once tried an X10 based sprinkler control, and experienced first hand the excitement of being awakened by a neighbor pounding on the door at 2AM to tell me my sprinklers were on. No, I'm looking for a tried-and-true system with a sterling history and big user base that has already worked out the bugs. Such a thing might not exist, yet, but I'm gonna spend some time lookin' for it...

OSPi is the one I was looking at.. OpenSprinkler Pi (OSPi) — Sprinkler / Irrigation Extension Board for Raspberry Pi << RAYSHOBBY.NET. Some good reading even if you're set on using off the shelf controller.. perhaps OpenSprinkler is what you are looking for (rather than OSPi)... no worries. I have a Raspberry PI running some network tools on my home network.

Don do you take a B12 supplement? If you don't I would recommend it if you do which one is good?

It is almost hard to believe that parts of Texas are seeing 36" of rain and other parts little to none.

We are back from the regional recycling center. One nice thing about recycling junk metal is that it is free to the depositor. They are pretty $ reasonable with other junk. A full load on the Tundra usually costs ~$10.

BEF- Have the docs done a nerve conduction (velocity) study on you? I hope that your neurologist and you can get a handle on this.

I remember my nerve conduction test done just over 5 years ago.. Quite an interesting experience.

Yep, that's Texas alright. Yesterday, our temperature ranged from 70 to 92 and sunny, and I mowed, edged, and trimmed the lawn in hopes that the rain down south would get up here. Today the temperature has ranged from 73 to 82, and stayed mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain in the forecast. This morning, we had fine sprinkles on the windshield 3 times, but never enough to turn on the wipers. If we hadn't been out in the car, we'd have never known there was any precipitation at all. But the NWS is still saying a 50% chance of rain tomorrow, so I haven't completely lost hope. And I'm sure grateful for the cooler temperatures.

Hawkeye- I get them every two years. My last one was my 5th or 6th. I agree that it is an interesting experience; not exactly pleasant during the procedure, but definitely interesting. It's worth the cost of admission

Hawkeye, was that an EMG? doc turned the dial up all the way to the right on me and I heard a snapping sound, sure didn't feel good.

finished washing the truck, and while it desperately needs a wax job, at least a little wash and wax made it cleaner.

If I have enough energy left, might make some muffins for guests. Might do that tomorrow morning also.
Energy meter is on E and the little red light is blinking.

It's nothing like this:eek:

The nerve conduction test is usually followed by electromyography (EMG)

I spoke too soon. We just got almost an hour of good rain. Lots of lightning too.

The lightning drove me out of my pasture cleanup about 2 pm. I was playing “pick up sticks” around some dead trees that had dropped limbs. I got the big stuff with my grapple yesterday.

He basically said, we know its GBS, no need to do the electric test unless the insurance wants to see it done. As far ad he's concerned, it will just take time. Other than treating pain, not really anything they can do right now. Go back in Dec.

Haircuts done, taking a break from brushhogging. Sounds like no concrete before next week, George waiting for scheduler to get back to him.
Time to hit the tractor again so I can get done and come in and take a nap after drawing a nice porter.

My nerve conduction test was two parts, one with precise measurements between marks on my ankle, knee, thigh and back (left leg had the issues). pads with wires were stuck on and a nice woman ran some diags with a machine. She left and the doc came in and put needles in where the pads were and clipped wires to the needles and apparently could test function of the nerves with a machine.. it hurt significantly. Nerves intact and functional, immediate surgery recommended for best recovery of left leg use.. took from March to Nov to get the surgery.

".... He basically said, we know its GBS, no need to do the electric test"- BEF It reads to me that you are dealing with a neurologist MDiety.. I would try to get a second opinion. Auto-immune disorders seem by own my personal experience to morph to other body organs and systems. Your body is fighting itself. ".... unless the insurance wants to see it done"- That explains a lot to me. I was fortunate to have doctors who put my well being above the BS that they had to deal with getting the appropriate testing approved by my insurance carriers in order to determine causes and effective treatment interventions.

If one looks at established assessment and treatment protocols for GBS, neurologic testing is SOP.

Good luck.

Hawkeye- I likened the procedures to the neurologist selectively tasing muscle/nerve groups and timing the reaction times; not unlike an electrician testing continuity and resistances of circuits/cicuit breakers running from the fuse box.

Thanks Jim,
Hmm, Mom's Cardiologist stressed this was quality of life not an extension of life procedure. This will be totally her decision I just want the info provided is a fair assessment of what to expect, all the positives and negatives. Kyle what was the age of the people you know that got pacemakers?
Mom was 89, over a year ago.
Wife's grandfather was almost 95. His memory started failing, along with his ability to carry on a decent conversation. After the pacemaker, his pulse was stead, blood pressure steady, his memory and communication/speech came back remarkably.

Good Morning everyone!!!!!!

Thanks for the + posts. I am much improved from yesterday and no more blood passed. I’ve known about the pre-cancerous cells in my esophagus for since my first endoscopy ~10 years ago. Based on risk factors then I had a 1% chance of those cells going cancerous. Now I have just about all the risk factors and I now am up to 5% chance. Like DABSGT this is a good time to start on the dieting, food choices, and some lifestyle changes. Other than my challenges with portion control, sausages and red meats we really eat healthily. Don would approve of most of what we eat ;). I need to work on portion control, timing of meals, and cut down on the martinis.:(. The last time I did this I started having serious challenges with hypoglycemia; I needed to stop almost all the insulins that I now take. We’ll see.

I really enjoy the project and life sharing from all. I much prefer to read about the shenanigans here than what's reportedly going on in the "real world."

I hope that everyone is having a decent day today, projects moving along as hoped, those on the mend and healing keep mending and healing.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear you are improving. Prayers sent.

Would shenanigans include putting horseradish in the okra malt/shake???

Whipper wants you to adopt her, the okra leftovers do not impress her.
;)

Ouch! Why so long to get the surgery?

Good morning all. The sun is shining and forecasters are still confident there will be no rain until the weekend.

I always enjoy seeing what others have been up to too. There are always things going on here that are interesting, even if I have no need to do the same, such as RNG's fire sprinklers and with others you can never know how they will turn out, like Davids underground tunnelling adventures. We get to admire Checks cladding, frown on Don cheating at woodwork by using a laser (only kidding Don!) and lots of other things, something different almost every day

My project to get the house passed by building control is getting closer to completion. This last section is not as old as the rest of the house. We think it was built just over a hundred years ago to house a static engine, but hadn't been given much TLC for many years. This is how it looked when we first bought the place.

A skilled bricklayer rebuilt the far corner for me and I got the worst of the wall at ground level sorted a few years ago. With a new roof on it didn't look too bad so I left it while last. All the bricks are machine made and many have been laid with vertical joints less than 1/4 inch wide, with mortar missing going right back, so this will take me a few days. I need to get back to it now or the mortar won't have firmed enough to strike off before nightfall.

How long did your place take you to get it "livable" to your wife's standards....(with no grease on her pillow). Did you live there whilst repairs were going on?

Remember, you are repairing for the next guy a 100 years or more from now. Leave him a little time capsule note.
