Good morning to all! Low of a nice 52 this morning, going up to 90, sunny. Tonight a cool front is supposed to come across, bringing some 40-45 mph wind with it overnight. It will drop tomorrow's high to the mid to upper 80's. That's ok.

76°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 95° today. The 76% humidity is going to help make today somewhat miserable around here. On the bright side, some thunder storms are expected to roll through the area this afternoon, and highs the next couple of days will be in the mid-80s.

Made another work trip to a customer in Southern Illinois yesterday afternoon. Took them some modified parts, which resulted in happy faces all around. I was initially dreading that trip, but it turned out quite well. This company makes the pitching machines for high schools, colleges, and even Major League Baseball. Pretty neat stuff for a small company working out of a metal building the size small machine shed. (They even have a little MF SCUT with a Woods mower sitting out front to mow their property.)

Did some mowing of my own when I got home. The Wife had mowed most of the lawn, except for the marsh between the lake and the road. I walked through it over the weekend, and it seemed like it might be firm enough. With rain expected today, I wanted to give it a try. Got most of it mowed going reeeeeeal slow, as some of that grass was 2-3 feet again. The new Husqvarna zeroturn did a great job. Amazing how much more powerful the 24hp Kawasaki motor is over the previous 22hp B&S. It never bogged down or clogged once, even with the deflector down. I did start getting into some slick spots towards the middle, and decided to leave that little bit in the lowest area for the line trimmer.

Thanks for passing along the message from Randy, Drew. Sounds like things are going along well for him.

Yesterday ...... was not one of my best days.

Ouch. I have some trees along the south and east fence lines in our pasture that I need to trim up so I can mow closer to the fence. Always worry about just this thing happening. Hope you didn't get cut or whacked.

Happy belated birthday Mostly.

Will watch storm brewing in Gulf.

I might luck out if wife and daughter do the weed eating. It's too hot in the evening when I get home.

Drew, thanks for relaying Randy's message.

RNG, I'm trying to see what your jack shaft or half shaft looks like?

Mostly, can the frame just simply be brazed? Not pretty, but lower heat required.

Slow at work this week. Hate it like this. Have some side projects to work on.

Have a blessed day all.

Rick, my buddy was cutting a customer's hay pasture and hit a diagonal hidden ravine so hard, his head hit the side window and cracked it. I told him that he's been hard headed all his life.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

A hazy sunny 52ºF for today’s low; high temperature is expected to get into the mid 80ºF’s later. The humidity is increasing; I’ll be using the A/C tonight. I tested the knee on my hill trail early this AM and no body parts are complaining. I have not been up there since January. I was surprised that there was as much tree damage as I had expected. I started preparation for my stir-fried rice with chicken, spiced tofu, and veggies tonight.

BEF- I hope the MRI and tests reveal the cause for your pain and a means to treat it. Good luck.

Drew- That pizza really looked like good eats as does the bean dish. From what I understand bacon is “healthier” than sausage. Did you make the crust? Thanks for sharing Randy’s post. Hopefully he’ll be posting here soon. The NH is too big and heavy for mowing the “lawn,” especially with the weighted R1’s. Once the D130 dies I’ll be looking at more appropriately sized mower; maybe even a 0 turn. I am learning a lot from the owner operators here. Good luck with the laser treatments.

Rick- I am sorry to read and see the window damage.

“… Not surprisingly, the plant-based diet was found to be healthiest for blood cholesterol.”- Don. I really do appreciate your willingness to share dietary information. From what I understand the plant based diet is also the best anti-inflammatory diet. I have no known family history regarding genetic disease predispositions. My blood sugar has been well managed. MY worst A1C ever was 6.7 with bloodwork taken years ago. I do know my GI system does not like red and processed meats.; it is more accepting of the “white meats.” I have bloodwork ordered, a physical, colonoscopy, and endoscopy scheduled for next month. I am not looking forward to any of this since I fell off the healthy diet and lifestyle bandwagon in January. It is time for me to restart healthy living practices again.

“…. What most people do not discuss is that your body will manufacturer cholesterol especially when you are stressed no matter what diet you follow.”- DABSGT That is my understanding.

Finding a competent medical specialist takes some effort. I was lucky that I did have choices when I first got sick. Now most of my specialists are retired or in the process of retiring.:(

I hope that everyone is having a decent or at least manageable day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

While cutting one of our pastures, I was backing up, cutting under low hanging limbs on a live oak tree. I backed up and while shifting back to forward, the tractor rolled back about a foot and the back window exploded! I'm going to clean up all the shattered glass in the cab and get rear window frame removed so, I can get glass replaced. Ironically..... the live oak was next on my list to get trimmed up so I could mow around it. Oh well.

Sorry to see that, Rick. But it just confirms my decision to purchase an open station (no cab) tractor. I'm dealing with a lot of oaks as well, and on steep hillsides to boot. I've already flattened one fender on the Kubota when I slid into one, and I don't think a cab would fare very well with that kind of treatment. I've also been hit a time or two with flying rocks and pieces of wood from the flail, and I know the glass would've been severely tested.

How's the loader working out on your LS? Any issues with mount flex or floppy arms? The XR4155 is in the same power range I'm shopping, and it would be a huge savings over a JD of the same size...

套. What most people do not discuss is that your body will manufacturer cholesterol especially when you are stressed no matter what diet you follow.? DABSGT That is my understanding.

Yes, cholesterol is vital to life, and your liver makes all you need. But like every good thing too much is fatal to over half of the population. Since I do not add any cholesterol to my diet I know exactly how much my body produces when I'm off all meds - my LDL hoovers around 90. Only on the plant based diet and statins can I keep the LDL at 70, the safe LDL level. What people do not talk about is the spike in your cholesterol level that goes up for 4 hours after eating cholesterol(meat). Your fasting diet right before a blood test is not your daily average level and that is the problem. This was explained in detail to me by the cardiologist conducting the Century Study. I'm confident my fasting and non-fast cholesterol levels are 70. After a meat meal I had my cholesterol tested (about 15 years ago and my cholesterol level was 400. (The spike after eating)
Drew it will be up to 6 more years when the 1200 people finish the study and you will have a bigger data base study that you wish for. From what they are leaking on the yearly test it is astounding, I've just finished year 6, 4 more to go.

Anyone have access to studies relating stress with levels of cholesterol? LDL or HDL?

Rick, that's how my cab would look like if I ever had/got one. Ron can tell you about the dents on the canopy of my Kubota.

oh my that's sad looking, sorry Rick. I was using the larger tractor to mow around the barn, simply to stay in a/c, and as I negotiated around this old pecan tree, was telling myself, stay far away...

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 9:00AM. Mostly sunny. High 92F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Congratulations, Randy, on your big day. Hope the walk down the isle wasn't too long, and you'll continue to make steady progress toward a full recovery.

Thanks for passing along Randy's note, Drew. Reading it was a big relief!

Jay, one of the reasons I left the Kaiser Permanente health plan/complex is that every time I went in for a physical, they'd assigned a new "personal" doctor. Very high turn over, and from experience, many of them were not very good doctors. I'll probably be losing both my internist and urologist to retirement within a few years as well, and I'm not looking forward to the search for replacements.

jackShaftCirclip.jpg
That's a photo of me using a porta-power to try to pry off the outer CV joint from one of the jack shafts, Kyle. The pliers are holding the ends of an Omega shaped circlip apart, forcing them into a groove in the CV and out of a matching groove in the jack shaft. The porta-power is rated at 1000 pounds force, and it didn't budge the CV at all. Without a better idea, I plan to clean up the parts again in the parts washer, load 'em with grease, and reinstall everything to see if replacing the viscous coupler with a solid splined shaft fixes the vibration problem. If it does, I'll put a few thousand miles on the jack shafts and pull them again in hopes that the splines have loosened up enough to get them apart. I want to polish the CV races because they are left fairly rough at the factory, and they're expensive enough that anything to extend their life would be worth while cost wise.

I plan to stop by the JD dealer tomorrow while I'm in town with a few questions. Mostly about configuration and intended use, and just to get a feel for the place. I was very happy with the way the New Holland dealer treated me when I talked with him about a skid steer, but I see no sense in buying one of their tractors when the LS is available for thousands less, except that the LS dealer is about an hour's drive away.

When you guys tractor shopped, what kinds of questions did you ask the dealer prior to purchase? There's probably enough experience in this group to write a book, and I want to go in with both barrels loaded, so to speak.

Happy Hump Day, Folks!
