Checking in from Watkins Glen by way of the Cornell Ornithology Lab. It's been HHH weather with episodic sun, rain showers, T-Storms, and strong storm cells with torrential rains. 82ºF presently. Interesting driving; beautiful scenery; no real traffic on the highways and byways. :cool:

Williamsport, PA was nailed by T-storms and straight line winds over the weekend. Many neighborhoods had significant tree damage. The funeral was well attended. The funeral procession really tied up the typical citywide traffic patterns. :cool: I caught up with many of my childhood friends; one in particular has anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to live according to the specialists. He's a tough hombre; I hope and pray he proves the specialists wrong. He has great attitude.:cool:

Lynn, Wngsprd and David- any/all pictures of snow is appreciated.:cool:

We will be home tomorrow. Hopefully the barbecue joint on the way home will be open. Friday I need to restart my healthy dietary practices and start losing the excess poundage.

Drew- Good luck with your rear hatch. Our Forester's rear hatch has a mind of its own; especially after it visits the dealership. Cars and trucks are getting too fancy with all the added gizmos that are supposed to make operations easier (when they work as expected).

David- I am happy to read that you and Sophie made it home safe and sound. Congratulations on the new tractor. A nice looking rig. I hope it works to your expectations.

How can the Bank of America be the Bank of America when there are no kiosks to be found anywhere in the USA? Internet searches with BOA's website could not find any nearby, local anywhere throughout our recent multi-state travels. Even when home it is a +30 mile drive to get to a kiosk.:mad: We'd drop them in a heartbeat if we were not so tied into their financial accounts and functions.:mad:

Good evening all. Yesterdays weather 74F for the start, moderate wind, partly cloudy. Sky cleared off mid-morning, wind increased more than forecast, Clouds came back, and high temp of 91F. Went fishing with neighbor, first time with the boat, and him. He caught a small bluegill, I was skunked, had minor issue with live well over flowing into the bilge area. Wind was a negative influence on fishing. Went for bike ride after fishing, then lunch and nap.

RNG hope your fourth goes well.

Today 72F for the start, partly cloudy, light wind. Wind uneven through the day, blew 5 mph or 15 mph not much transition. Clouded up like it would rain but didno and high temp of 91F again. Will be seeing temp increase after tomorrow. Men's meeting, bike ride, and clean up boat to watch fireworks tomorrow night. Short nap and work on fishing gear.

Listened to a recording of Paul Harvey talking about the men who signed the declaration. It didn't end well for almost all of them. Many lost everything, some gave their fortunes to the good guys....and they never got re-payed.

Eric, I have a friend from Liverpool (lives in Widnes now) - whose name is also Paul Smith - who lost a bet on that game, and now has an American flag as the background picture on his Facebook page. Some of his friends have been giving him a lot of grief over it, but his reply was, "Hey, a bet is a bet."

PJ, they always say, never make a bet you aren't prepared to loose. Your namesake sounds like a good looser.

The 4th of July is just an ordinary work day in the UK, yet we don't mind at all that most of you will be off celebrating Independence - this country has had 243 years to practice being a good looser :)

David, how good did it feel this morning to be home again and waking up to a shiny new blue tractor that looks as eager as a puppy to go and explore it 's surroundings ?

Good morning all and Happy July 4th.
Hot and sticky here today, windows are fogged up, headed into 90's again today with thunderstorms predicted.
I'll be in the garden early watering, maybe that will make it rain.

No great plans for today, might go down to the River tonight to watch the fireworks but I'm usually falling asleep by then.
Alternatively, one can watch live fireworks online in the comfort of one's recliner. in this case, there is an app for that.
However, to feel the whump of a big shell going off never comes through the speakers, that you have to feel live.
I have, and now I admit I like the air-conditioning...

Personally worried about bad things happening during July 4th spectacle in Washington DC.
Not worried about elsewhere, all the press and sensation given to the use of M-1 tanks, etc etc will waken up the loonies
and out they come. Really am glad I live in the country. I bet most of you do too.
