Nice modifications Ted.

Do you have a RK link for your new seat? What is the upholstery material? Were you able to install the seat safety switch on it?

I also use my FEL to lift up my 84" Rear Finish Mower for cleaning, blade change, etc. It makes that job very easy. Nice to stand and change blades with pneumatic impact.

Now .... get that thing dirty!

Here's a link... Not on sale anymore, but still a great price with free shipping to home.
Black Talon Seats Tractor Seat Universal High Back 44BK3UN

It is a very comfortable seat, the fabric is "cordova", really heavy woven cloth but waterproof. Definitely will be cooler in the heat, allowing your butt to 'breath'. Yes there is a cutout in the bottom for the safety switch, I had to make a bracket to span across because my switch was much smaller.

Thanks Ted. I'm happy with both of my tractor's seats but a neighbor has an open station NH that's seat has seen it best days.

OK, a bit of recap for those interested.

Plan A involved my homebrew water drill. 1st 12 ft went in readily using constant water and 20lb sledge. Unfortunately, operator error and I bunged up my screw in connection. Used backhoe for next 6 ft section, which should have brought me to edge of drive. Even digging foot or so under the concrete did not expose the end. Finally gave up and pulled out what I could, but 1st 12 ft remain in the ground.

Plan B a modification, mainly using power of the backhoe to push (pull) pipe, this time starting from other end. Note able to have a continual water connection using backhoe
Cottage John fabricated a cutter for lead end. Would rotate clockwise with large pipe wrench periodically.

Basic tool, but in 4ft lengths. Post pounder fit over trailing end to exert bh pressure to both 3/4 pipe and 1 1/2 pvc.

Put in 4 sections (16 ft) from the undercut side of drive. Paid particular attention that guide sled was well aligned and level.
Attempt to drive 5th section resulted in bent pipe. Took a break, a bit of comfort in that section connection was still accessible and thinking I could possibly replace that 1 section or worst case pull back complete line. John arrived about then and I updated him. He asked if he could explore a bit with shovel as I prepped for above options. Less than 10 minutes later he exclaimed he found the end of pipe. It was about 6 inches in from my dig. PVC pipe maybe 1.5 ft short from where it needed to be.

Cleaned out clay around end, disconnected cutter piece and attached a hook to pull.

A length of chain and backhoe eased it to desired position.

Freed up exit end of 3/4 pipe and moved to other end.

3/4 pipe gently extracted from pvc sleeve. Water flush to clean out some dirt before inserting 1” poly. Expect plumber will replace with his own. I just wanted to make sure pvc was clear.

Now to apply those lessons to remaining line.

warm 71 going to 92. No relevant rain in ten day forecast continues, been weeks since we had a decent rain. At least I was able to stop mowing the lawn for a little bit.

Up since 3, since I slept yesterday afternoon.
Arm is swollen half way up between wrist and elbow, but overall swelling down, can now close my fist. Progress and onward.
I guess i need to wear gloves more...

another volunteer collards pick party this morning, likely the last. Church group from neighboring town. Pastor in 80's says his congregation
who got the collards the last time said, any more of those good collards? They were the best we've had.
Now I'm sure the good Pastor was trying his best to come up with a thank you but I was touched.
Frankly these collards are picked at about half the size of normal
so they are more tender plus there are different varieties that the recipients have probably not had before.
We are pretty much stripping the plants for the summer, I will bush hog the tops off, and see what survives into the Fall.

After dinner yesterday I got a little work time in and powerwashed a variety of open shed stored equipment
with layers of pollen and/or mold; felt good to get all that equipment cleaned up.

Rick, doesn't your big tractor lift that rear mower high enough to get under easily for blade changing?
Clearly you are a lot higher/easier to work on using the FEL.

for our musicians, I wish I were back in PA for this little event, a first for our Meeting. Not sure who all is coming.

A pic from the router class.
View attachment 605136

Don, as mostly also says, the router picture looks a little scary. The leading hand is fine, but the pushing hand is too close to the router bit for me as the wood leaves the bit (I'm a real wimp when it comes to sharp, fast spinning metal :)).

A push stick would give a lot more room for error before needing a trip to the hospital.

If that's a beginners lesson, I'm surprised too they are not showing you how to fit a plastic comb on the fence to help keep downward pressure on the timber directly over the router bit - much safer than pushing down close with your palm.

A tribute to Doris Day was on the radio when I woke this morning. I kept hitting the snooze button to hear her voice, which always makes me feel like I'm a kid back in the the 60's.

Que Sera Sera is my favourite. Such easy going lyrics too - what will be, will be - great advise, especially when at that time, the big thought always at the back of my mind was when the nuclear bomb was coming  Probably accounts for why my wife says I'm so laid back about almost everything - almost horizontal :)

The weather was kind for our garden visit yesterday. A nice place, 4 acres planted up as lots of small compartments and great food too.

26 ーF and going to a high of 52. Wind N 8 gusting 17 mph. 60% chance of 'periods' of rain.

I got the driveway regraded yesterday and today I will charge up the battery for the lawnmower. I will probably check the blades for sharpness and fluid film the underneath as well.

That is my day planned out. The rest of what I will be doing you guys/gals probably don't want to hear about anyway, because for many of you it is still back in the dark ages and illegal.

Eric; Awesome looking gardens!

Have a good weekend all
