After i posted, got word of gunfire going on outside of work, across the road somewhere..

Now hearing its a shooting range. I have never heard it before.

If history is any indication, STL will see that as a challenge to their supremacy. :rolleyes:

Well, the running boards that came in for the truck were better quality than I expected when I opened the box! The install was super easy, very good engineering, fit with very good tolerances. Took me about an hour with 2 wrenches.
Afterwards, things went downhill....fast.... my new trailer hitch is the wrong one, and the brake controller does not actuate the brakes! The little voice inside reminded me to check the plug / hitch. The first thing I found was a loose mounting bolt on the hitch to frame mount...nope only the washer is loose...the bolt is cross threaded and super torqued tight. Upon closer inspection, found that the hitch is only a class III.... It's supposed to be a class IV. BIG DIFFERENCE!

Then I plug the trailer in. Lights work, no brake actuation.... Mmmm... Check the controller--- has power....no manual control...no control adjustments whatsoever.

NOW I AM FIT TO BE TIED !!

Call the dealer. They say..."we didn't do the install..." "I'll send you the number to call -------shop, they did the work, so they will fix it". Called them and drove right there. They pulled it into the service bay. After an hour, the tech came out and said "well it was working with a test light, but I can't get it to work now" ....DUH ! They said they couldn't check with their trailer "because the wiring on the trailer was messed up" . That did not instill a vote of confidence in them! So then I asked them about the hitch...they only have class III... They can't get a class IV for my truck....

I'm lucky I didn't get a ticket on the way to the dealer.... Told them I paid for a class IV hitch, that's what I expected. Asked them why would you put a 5,000# hitch on a truck rated to tow 6700# ?. They first said.."we put on hundreds of these hitches and never had a problem". I said you do now! Then they printed out a sheet that had the specs of the hitch. Yes, it could go to 8,000# with a weight distribution set up. I said that's fine... You can supply an $700-800 weight distribution system then. Story changed real quick. Nope they can't do that.

So, after presenting my case about how they shorted / fried out my brake controller, hacked off the Nissan factory 'plug and play' connectors, and mounted a substandard inferior aftermarket hitch (installed incorrectly at that) it had to go up to the sales manager "for determination". I then explained the whole thing again...showed them pics...then it had to go to his boss...then the boss's boss. Needed to threaten with pickets out front and a legal consult with my attorney.

My appointment to have all genuine Nissan equipment installed with a new brake controller is at 8AM tomorrow morning. It's only taken about 3 hours, but I've finally calmed down. Another day of incompetence and "the run around with pointing fingers". Geeze... I'm almost regretting this....

LS, sorry you have to go thru all that.

   / Good morning!!!! #91,767
LS to hear you had to put up with such incompetence. Imagine someone that didn’t know better or didn’t check.

   / Good morning!!!! #91,768
Got my new flail uncrated and put together. Slight hiccup. After uncrating and taking mental inventory, I questioned the mounting of the 3 pt frame. Seems they shipped me the FMC instead of FME. Centered vs extended or offset. No way I can mow close to fences as mower width is same between my tires. I emailed seller and near immediate response. Seller is sending the hydraulic offset kit which will definitely fix the problem. Kits weren’t available when I ordered, hence the decision favoring the FME model. After set up, managed a couple of circuits before it started sprinkling.

   / Good morning!!!! #91,769
It just seems that incompetence has now become the "normal". After I got home, wifey and I had that discussion of 'how many people are taken' without even realizing that they didn't get what they paid for. I almost believe that they "plan" for the "sheeple" to just go along with whatever they are told. I heard every excuse in the book when they were trying to get out of fixing the hitch. When I didn't back down, and was able to provide evidence of the mistakes, they changed their tune real quick!

Here's a pic of the wiring where they cut the plug off. And one of the stickers right on the hitch! They were actually trying to argue that one!

I'm really sorry things turned around so fast, Ted. At this point, you may still be able to insist on a refund and just walk away from the "deal". The rules differ from state to state. At the end of the day, though, you need to figure out if the hitch you want is really available for your truck, and determine what it takes to get what you want. With that in hand, you can tell the dealer to supply the parts, or issue you a cash credit for the coat of the parts plus installation. Otherwise, he's got a bigger check to write, for your refund on the truck. Unfortunately, that's all these @$$holes understand.

Good morning all. Warm this morning, high fifties, in fact low temps are now in the 50's all ten day. Good growing weather.

Ted, geez, what a hassle, new truck, want it done right, and they try to throw on a marginal hitch, and can't even install that right.
I remember getting a factory hitch with my Frontier and had no problems with it. Not sure I'd pull a full 7000 with that truck though, think you'll find the V6 a little underpowered for that. Plus there's always the issue of stopping... Personally I think competition has pushed up tow ratings likely right to the ragged edge of capability for these trucks. Like pulling 11k with my Ram. I wouldn't...

Got a recommendation on a new landscape service for weedeating, next door neighbor of my electrician who gave them high reviews.
Going to call him today, otherwise back to working in garden, probably pulling tiller to weed in the potato and collard gardens since ground is soft from a little rain, but not a lot of rain. All sort of fizzled before it got here. Enough to wash off the truck and leave piles of gold pollen in the corners of the parking lot.

Mostly, I'm envious you are back out on the water already. Have fun and stay warm.

Hope this is a good weekend for all. David gets to try out his new flail, yeah (glad you got such good service on it, hydraulic positioner sounds very good). Flair will make nice counterweight for FEL too and doesn't stick out as far as conventional mower.

Toppop, cool Monte Carlo. Very sleek. Once you "decontent" them is that now a restomod? Not sure of class it goes in, other than fun car.

47 high of 68 today got almost one inch of rain yesterday

Went for physical therapy yesterday at 5:00 pm have to talk to a computer wow not ready for that. Make copies of cards and fill out papers then told I am at the wrong place where they say I知 supposed to be is 45 min away I say no way they say oh we made a mistake have to come back in two weeks. Screw up Friday I guess for lots of folks. Ted sorry for your troubles which seem the norm now, hope your knee is improving

Jay sounds like you are recovering well

Rng nice looking van it will be beautiful when done love the color

Toppop great looking classic car

Haircut this morning jobs to look at then see about unstopping pond drain the pond is overflowing thru spillway now more like a lake

   / Good morning!!!! #91,773
LS, don't forget that the hitch installer owes you a new rear harness installed because they butchered your stock harness thereby destroying the waterproof integrity of the original harness.

~~~~~~~~
Temp is 30 °F and going to a high of 48. Wind WNW 15 mph. Mainly cloudy.
This will be a good day to scrape some more hard packed ice and snow off the parking area and the driveway. I have a neighbours place to do too.
That is all that is on my plate for today, quality seat time.
Have a safe weekend all
35 going to 60 with clouds and possible rain all day. Taking wife’s car in for service then maybe start removing blower and plow from tractor. Want to clean and paint the plow before I put it away. Might fire up the convertible. Hasn’t run since October. Hope everyone is safe and healthy!
   / Good morning!!!! #91,775
Firing up the convertible. Someone sure has the Itch of Spring...:thumbsup:
Headed out to plant okra seeds aka tiny industrial strength ball bearings, like to be soaked in water first, which I'm not doing this year, I'll just water them heavily in trays in the beginning. Hard seed shells, tough to wake up. Once they get going, they are indestructible tree like plants.
Buppies, sorry, sounds like my last epidural appt, where I showed up, with a driver, and was told, oh, so sorry, we can't take you today, we forgot to write your appt in. Never did get the shot, second time same place had botched an appt. Huge practice, patients are cattle.
Some pain clinics work like clockwork, this one was so caught up with hospital procedures I don't think they could sneeze without a form to fill out.
Would you like to make another appointment?
No.
Found a new doctor.
Problem is all the time lost in waiting in queue for next visit.
Some of you are really suffering from leg and joint problems.
Best wishes for a better weekend.
Need to pour first cup of coffee. 39° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 64° with mostly cloudy skies. Got a little more cleaned up on garden pond yesterday. Fixed wiring to lights. Then spent rest of day resting. Going to visit my aunt that is in rehab today. Should be a good day for the 170 mile round trip.
Ordered a new HP computer yesterday from Costco. AMD cpu and all the latest updated ports. While researching I was looking at the same computers from several outlets. Checked my email. Costco offered me $25 coupon. Found better deals but when you add extended warranty they were almost $100 more than Costco. Costco includes a 2 year extended warranty with all their electronics.
Ted, hope you get the hitch you want. Quick look shows only Class III hitches for your truck. Draw-Tite makes a 750 lbs tongue weight. But still 5K towing. But Nissan may have the correct hitch. Wonder why installer did not heat shrink the connectors they installed. They look like that type.
RNG, Van is looking good.
Buppies, wait 2 more weeks for PT. I would be calling the owners.
David, I like the hydraulic shift on my Woodmaxx Flail Mower. Like you I need it to do fence lines.
Randy, nice car.
Prayers for All.
Good Morning All
Good morning all. The sun is up, rain has stopped, yard is swept and now I'm sat here waiting for a delivery of a ton of sand and 11 bags of cement.
RNG, I've not heard of Chapman screwdrivers before. I have a little Bacho 1/4" rachet set that has a holder for standard hex bits. The one you showed on amazon looks to have hard edges, would a rounded shaft be easier on your fingers ?
LS, my condolences. I just looked at the origin of the word hitch and found it was from the 15th century "icchen" - " to move with jerks". Seems appropriate :) .
David, being able to retro fit a hydraulic offset sounds a great result.
Don, first it was playing on tractors without paying for them, now you have virtually free access to all the tools and materials you could ever want. To think just 6 months ago we were all worried you would get bored out of your mind. Only one thing missing now - a club that scrapes out cattle grids with a teaspoon :)
a club that scrapes out cattle grids with a teaspoon :confused3: Is that a club a misbehaving english lad might need to be joining. :confused2:
Drew if it wasn’t so far I would put the top down and we would go riding. I have not been to Washington since the early 90s Oriental sp 2005 a long time no doubt. I did get to visit fountain power boats though. You are right about doctors therapists etc. doctor hopes therapy will help prolong my need for surgery
Ron why not just take a mini ex and pick it up sounds easier
I’ve never heard of Chapman either Eric
