"Congrats on your new truck LS. Did you get 4WD?" -----Kyle

Absolutely...I'll need to get some all-terrain tires when I wear these out. Definitely need 4WD out here.

Drew, wish I was closer....two of my favorite tractors were the old cub cadets (my dad had one) and the old wheel horses (I just gave away a '72 that I wanted to restore). I think you should be able to get a bit more than $500, especially if it has been fixed up like you described. Good luck! Sure don't make them like that anymore!

It was 47°F here this morning, 20° colder than yesterday morning when it was 67°F. Guess this will be winters last gasp here. Forecast is for 55°F this afternoon and down to 40°F overnight, and 36°F for Tuesday morning.

It's been very windy here since the front came thru yesterday.

Sunday is always tractor, Kubota ZT, and Polaris Ranger maintenance day but, will most likely do all four inside the shop with doors closed.

Good luck with your gall bladder Kyle. And yes ...... you do need an air fryer. You can get "fried food" flavor ..... without all the fat. We use our at least once a day and sometimes for multiple meals. I think "fried" chicken is one of my personal favorites.

RNG, going back to your building plans, if you started moving some dirt around yourself with a box blade, maybe you could "chip away at the stone". Or does your soil have a lot of stone in it which requires much larger equipment? Seems to me if you did a little at a time, you wouldn't have the authorities breathing down your neck....

My experience with augering in fence posts and digging trenches tells me that there are rocks of all sizes in the dirt, then at some point you get to the mountain itself, which will either be limestone or schist. Either way, it'll stop the little 3PH hitch backhoe on my Kubota cold.

As for chipping away, that might work for a while, but the county has started reviewing satellite imagery looking for illegal marijuana grows. Then they cite them for building code violations and environmental impact/pollution ordinances, and of course for the dope if the proper licenses haven't been pulled and adhered to. I've seen fines levied close to a million, and it's not uncommon for them to get into tens of thousands of dollars.

At this point, my bulldozer neighbor has agreed to come down and dig an exploratory trench or two, the idea being to determine how much overburden there is before hitting solid rock. Before that, he's also offered to help me scope out a more level area to start with to help me see the forest for the trees. Regardless, with the prices being charged for earthwork, it would be more cost effective to purchase a bulldozer and excavator of my own and do the work myself. Even if I kept 'em for a couple of years, I could sell them for not much less than they cost, and still come out way ahead on that aspect. I just don't know how long my on-the-job training would take, and how successful I'd be at producing a level pad at the end.
