36 going to 55 and sun.

Rick, I didn't forget about National Nap Day...took a nice 15 minute one.

PJ, I like that clock. Every school should have one.

Well, I may have finally killed the John Deere mower yesterday. Since getting the zero turn, the Deere's job had been reduced to mulching leaves in the fall, and mowing the part of the side hill where I've left the yuccas to spread, and need something narrower to mow between them once or twice a year since the tractor and bush hog won't fit. Got the mowing about done, but each time coming up hill was slower...finally it would not back in reverse, and no longer had the transmission strength to come back up the hill. Maybe this morning after cooling off it will move. Otherwise, I'll take the tractor down to pull it back. 828 hours and 15 years, so got my money's worth on their 100 series lowest-end yard machine.

poured first cup of coffee. 16° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 45° with lots of sun. Every place that still has snow is a sheet of ice. Very slippery. Still a slow melt. Which is good. Hope to get out to shop and get work done today. Head cold is hanging on. Need some fresh outside air. Wife OT are not fun visits. But hope that the Vital Stimulation Treatments (similar to Tens) are going to help in the long run.

Buckeye, sorry for your wife's Aunt's passing. May she RIP.
Sad about 2 college girls.

Don, watering brown grass makes it grow?

Wngsprd, maybe it needs a trans oil change.

PJ, neat clock.

Rick, nice wash job. No nap for me yesterday. Maybe I should take 2 today.

Kyle, several different math clocks on Amazon. None for me. I dropped my slide rule last year. It broke. Filed it away in the round basket. :D

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! 57 ˚F might rain today. I fertilized the yard grass yesterday after mowing it very short. It was the first time I used the rear bag on the EGO mower. The mailman delivered the new battery while I was mowing, I immediately put it in the 20 minute charger and it got broken in yesterday. Mowing the grass 2" shorter really cut down on the mowing battery life time.

Today and tomorrow are suppose to be wet days if not we have to move some dirt to the picnic area before we mulch it. I volunteered for an "easy" job for the new trail's grand opening at the end of the month but I don't know what it is.

Ron I don't know why they are watering the brown grass, but probably because they have fertilized and it hasn't rained in a while. They are trying for an early green-up.

I forgot to celebrate Nap Day also. :confused3:

19 and going to a high of 32°F. Wind NW 11 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

Yesterday I plowed everybody out and got farther on the lane to the downed tree.

I also picked up a tool box to hold all the extra goodies for the chain saw.

The rain we had the other day put the kibosh on my using the ramp I built to the north field. The ramp was made of snow and got really soft. It wasn't all that wide to begin with, wheel track wide. My bad.

All you guys planting your seeds get to enjoy the bugs and snakes and such so much earlier than I do. I am happy for you all.

I need to plow again today.

Have a good day all.

No WNG .... I'm the dummy who forgot.

Maybe I'll take two today .... to make up?

Edit: Since so many of us missed / forgot about Nap Day yesterday ...... I make a motion that we promote WNG to TBN "National Nap Notifier" for next year. All in favor .....?

THE NAP YOU SAVE .... MAY BE YOUR OWN!

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. High 62F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph, becoming NW and increasing to 10 to 20 mph.

decouplerActuator.jpg decouplerHousingOpen.jpg
Got the front end of the van up high enough yesterday that it only lost a quart of fluid out of the transaxle when the output housing came off. That was the good news. There was so much goop on the sealing surface it took a porta-power to break it loose, but at least there was a tab to press against. The bad news is that the actuator shaft has no seal, nor an o-ring, to keep it from leaking. There's no counterbore to accept a seal, and no groove for an o-ring. I don't know if this thing was made on a Monday, or if it's just a bad design. The linkage that moves the splined coupler is held together with snap rings, another indicator it was designed to be cheaply made, and I'm probably going to replace it with a more robust one. More money down the drain, but I'd rather spend it now than have it come apart and take out a very expensive transaxle. Sent an email with photos off to the supplier, and it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.

Sharpened four saw chains, then went out and cut a few rounds off a the big pine trunk. As it started getting dark the saw didn't want to idle, then it didn't want to start, and I think it's fouling plugs. I don't think it had much use before I got it, and now that it's getting broken in, it's probably time to tweak the idle settings, and maybe treat it to a new spark plug.

I like your idea of using a tool box for your chainsaw accessories, Bill. I'm using a cardboard box, which works well enough, but it's no fun rummaging around looking for this or that. Might have to go shopping at HF next time I'm in town...

One thing I did do that makes life a little easier is tape a magnet to the handle of the small No-Spill tank I use to fill the saw. I slip the chainsaw wrench through the handle and the magnet holds it in place. The tank is a lot bigger than the wrench, so now both are easier to find out in the weeds where I usually use the saws.

67°F and very foggy here this morning. Forecast is for 76° and overcast today with 10% rain chance. Tomorrow .... 90%.

Yesterday .... it stayed foggy here, till well after lunch. Probably same today.

Still sneaking up on getting the entire rolling fleet washed, I have the 55 HP tractor and the F-350 yet to do. That seems like 3-5 days worth ..... right?

I'm really bummed about completely missing "National Nap Day". .

Hope everyone has an excellent day.

Prayers to all.

Yep, I learned on my neighbor's yard that mowing taller grass doesn't change the engine sound. In other words, it never sounds like it laboring, as a gasoline engine will. But the heavier load really does shorten the battery charge time span. And the same is true for the string trimmer.

56 degrees with a pretty good mist here this morning, going for a high of 66. I just took my granddaughter and her little dog to a groomer to get the dog a haircut. When they call to say she's ready, I've got to take them home. This week is Spring Break for the schools around here, so our granddaughter and her little dog have been here since Saturday, and going home today.

Good morning all,

8 degrees this morning and some fog. Bear Lake has little to no ice so fog will be the norm until the sun burns it off.

Unfortunately I attended the funeral of my cousin's son yesterday. He was only 29, married 2.5 years and lost a battle of Colon cancer. As funeral's go it was very nice and good to catch up with relatives I haven't seen in years.

Prayers for all those in need, have a nice day.

The low this morning is 6°. The sun was out most of yesterday and in the upper 30's. Today is going to be partly cloudy with a high around 30°. They are saying there is a good chance of a storm tonight into Thursday morning. With maybe a foot of snow.

It was nice enough to set in the sun yesterday and practice some welding. Also went and looked at the neighbors driveway for the propane driver and saved him a trip. I sent him a picture and he said wasn't going to even try to get in to the tank.

I know that you guys like pictures so I took a few when I was out yesterday.

One is from the county road look at the our house. One is looking out of the driveway and one is looking up the lower subdivision road towards the neighbors.

Not sure what the day will bring.

Wishing everyone the best.
CWB.

Do your neighbors actually expect to get delivery when a road looks like that?
I am going to assume they don't reside there year round, vacation homes?
I live in the Northeast and know that I can't get deliverys if there is snow on my driveway, I get fuel enough for the winter in the fall.

Good morning to all! Low of 38, going up to 54. The weather guessers are forecasting possible t-storms this afternoon. We only got 2/10ths of an inch yesterday....disappointed that's all we got. Right now the sky is clear. We'll see what changes with the cold front coming across later. It's supposed to develop a "squall line" moving to the East. Probably some severe weather / tornadoes will develop in northwestern Texas / Oklahoma.

Sorry to hear of the loss of loved ones...always sad. Prayers for the families.

Rick, when you run out of tractors / trucks to wash, you can do a road trip up here. I have quite a few vehicles that need a bath....then we could go up to the peak..

Claye, when do you usually get your 'final melt-off'? Beautiful pics.

Wifey broke her glasses last night, so today will entail finding an optometrist and hopefully new glasses. Has anyone used CostCo eye center? How fast is the turn around on glasses?

Hope everyone has a great day! Prayers sent.

"..... I live in the Northeast and know that I can't get deliverys if there is snow on my driveway."- Lou

FedEX, UPS, and DHL are pretty decent with home deliveries if they can drive through the roadside plow banks here. The propane deliveries are similar. I feel badly that there is no shoveled path to the tank and the tank fuel hatch is snow/ice covered for the past 8 weeks.

The USPS will not deliver here in any condition be it rain, snow, sleet, dark of night, sun, heat, wind, mud, blackflies, big dogs, crazy occupant, etc.

Ted- Sorry to read about Wifey's glasses. Good luck with the optometrist.

34°F and thin clouds this morning, going up to 55° today. Rain expected to move in later in the evening and into tomorrow morning. Mid-60s the next couple of days; we'll take it.

I had just finished the upper driveway and was in the process of shoveling snow from the deck the last time our propane delivery guy showed up. He was very appreciative.

Agreed. I know I've probably said it many times, but this thread has become my favorite place on the internet.
