At least my potatoes are liking the “extra” hour of daylight, they are up!

But I will sacrifice my potatoes to save the world, if we got rid of daylight savings time we could eliminate global warming according to this California source- Stop Daylight Savings and End Global Warming | TreeHugger

33 right now...high in the mid-30's today.
Just plugged the tractor is to clear the drive in an hour or so. Glad I waited as there looks to be a sheen of ice on the snow.
I'm off today to take care of Suzette....she's doing pretty good but still can't use her arms until the breast bone is pretty much healed...

Good morning all. We had high winds all days yesterday, which may have helped in persuading the wet snow not to hang around. All the white had just about disappeared before it turned to freezing overnight and this morning the sunshine has made short work of the frost.

I have been doing more homework on rainwater collection and now have a slightly better understanding of "wet pipe" collectors. They would be a neat solution, however I'm not sure how well water filled PVC gutter down pipes survive in places that get frost. Perhaps "dry pipe" collection will be better for me. All thoughts welcome.

Ron, great to hear your aunt is recovering.

49 going to 68 and sun...but seems the NWS has been overly optimistic, forecasting a high that has averaged about 5 degrees too much lately.

Roy, real nice Ruger. Will you get a new suppressor for it, or use the one you have?

Eric, hope you get your water collection figured out. I'm just trying to deal with too much water, not trying to collect any, except in my well.

Have a nice 311 Day!

27 and going to a high of 30°F. Wind W 22 gusting to 34 mph.Snowing as I type.

I will go out and scrape the snow we got yesterday and overnight off.

Eric, moving water won't freeze. Your downspouts will not get full to the point of the water not moving.

For 23 years my sump hole line has been going across the top of the ground and even in -40 ° temps it doesn't freeze to the point of water not moving.

I am out this morning to get a bag to hold all the accessories for the chainsaw. 2 chargers, 2 batteries, 1 file and a jug of chain oil.

I priced out 2 Odessey AGM deep cycle batteries for the boat.....$352.06 each plus tax. A lot better price than I was expecting.

Have a good day all

I have two now....both .22LR. I'm considering this one: Mask – DeadAirSilencers, but it's going to have to wait for a while...probably in a few months. It'll be another .22LR can, or maybe a 5.56 can. Haven't made up my mind yet.

warm morning here, 57 out now. Ten day forecast shows mostly dry weather, what a switch.
Headed out now to start planting potatoes, have two rows to do, will try to get one done today and rest tomorrow.

was invited by County Ag Extension agent to be part of new pilot program educating the community about local farming. Likely mostly involves local business people but the description was interesting: once a month, we will travel out to visit local farms, see planting and harvest operations, ride tractors and combines, and talk to the people who make a living on the land. For sure this will be my only opportunity to ride in a combine. And will likely learn about all the chemicals I have no intentions of using.......

Drinking first cup of coffee. 25° with with clear skies this morning. Heading to 38° with sun and winds. Snow and ice are doing a slow melt. Lot of branches to be picked up. But most are still frozen to ground. Anxious to get out and clean things up. That may happen Thursday when temperatures are forecast to be in mid 60's. Cough from sore throat is hanging on. Hope it goes away soon. Take wife to OT. No plans for today because Amazon delivery did not deliver part that should have been delivered yesterday.

Spoke to my Aunt yesterday. Very weak, but ready to get back to normal. May have to spend some time in rehab.

Drew, sounds like a good program to learn about farming in NC.

Roy, glad Suzette is getting better. Be careful on the ice.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High 66F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Wild weather here yesterday, no less than four rounds of showers with a paltry 0.04" to show for it, with a dusting of 1/4" diameter hail thrown in, just to keep it interesting. The day ended with enough sunshine to get a downed tree cut up, and a wee drop on the back porch to watch the last of the sunset.

Drew, are you sure that program won't be bringing folks to see your operation, instead of the other way 'round?:confused2:

FWIW, Duluth Trading has tool bags on sale right now...

Gonna be a nice day for workin' on the van, and sharpening chains.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

49 degrees going for 54 with a 40% chance of rain today. NWS says 60% chance tomorrow and 100% chance Wednesday, but also gradually getting warmer, and we may see some sunshine after Wednesday.

While I like the Duluth Trading stuff and there is a store next door to Menards here. Their prices make my wallet cringe.

We have one of their new stores in our area. My wife and I went in and looked around a bit once; can't imagine having a reason to go in there again.

Yup. Looking out the cottage window to the lake, drinking my first cup of coffee, and it does not look inviting. Weather is still blustery, blowing the snow around. We did have a bit of an accumulation yesterday of wet sloppy snow, and it did freeze up overnight enough that I can probably use the snowblower without the chute getting clogged. Then heading south to the city later today, where it is going to get over 50°C by Thursday!

Also, we lost power yesterday morning with all of the wind, but only for about five hours or so. Automatic standby generator took care of things in my sleep, and we barely noticed.

Have a nice day and prayers for those in need.

69°F and very foggy here this morning. Forecast says 73°F and 50% chance of rain this afternoon.

I'm sneaking up on getting all our machines cleaned up. Washed the Polaris Friday and the Kubota ZT yesterday.

Now just two tractors and my F-350 left to do. At this pace I think I can milk this job for most of the week.

Hope everyone has an excellent week.

Prayers to all.
