Reading on another thread about waze do any of you all use it?

Sometime back, Google bought Waze, so if you use the Google maps app on your phone, you're using Waze real time update technology. That's the same technology that routed me through a residential neighborhood a couple years ago during rush hour, to a "T" intersection that was closed to through traffic, and had a police officer writing tickets to any who ignored the sign. The sign had been put up by the local city council when residents complained that their quiet neighborhood had become a traffic jam every evening due to Waze routing commuters around stopped traffic on the nearby freeway.

Buppies, when I had to replace my 026 last month, I got a MS 260 CM. So smooth, and the decompression valve works great...never knew about them before.

Funny you should mention the decompression valve, Wng. I just noticed a little black button on my new-to-me MS 261 yesterday. The saw was idling at the time, and when I pushed it, the saw stopped. Tried to read the fine print on the little button, but it was too small. Couldn't get the button to pop back out with my fingers, but when I started the saw the cord was soooooo much easier to pull and it lit right off. That's when it dawned on me that it was a compression release, and I'll be using it from now on. Life just got a little easier!:dance1:

Good morning to all! Low of 36, going up to 58, breezy. Rain showers predicted for tomorrow and Sunday. High temps dropping back into the 40's for next week. Not much planned for the day, maybe attempt to finish some errands we didn't do earlier this week.

Saw 2 things on the news this morning that really irritated me.
The first was a state legislature bill being presented for a vote: It was a bill to teach "circus art" in the schools.....literally teaching juggling, puppet operation, costuming, and clowning to name a few.......WHAT ?? HOW ABOUT TEACHING TO READ AND WRITE PROPERLY !!!
The second was to convert some of the jails to "alcohol and drug treatment centers". This isn't using the old ones...but converting some of the current ones. Of course it doesn't address the 'shortage' of jail space and overcrowding. But the criminals that are convicted of non-violent crimes such as burglary, theft, etc...would be sent to these "treatment centers" "because their behaviors are caused by their addictions". WOW.... THATS ALL I CAN SAY ON HERE !! I don't want to get thrown off....

Hey, maybe they can combine the two and teach the criminals to become circus acts....

Everyone have a great Friday, the weekend is almost here! Prayers sent!

29°F and light flurries this morning, going up to 40° today. The weather voice on the radio this morning is suggesting 4-8" of snow for Saturday night / Sunday Morning.

Lots of wild life encounters at various places on the drive to work this morning; skunk on the side of the road decided to stay in the ditch, possum ran across ahead of me, deer jumped out in front of me and I just missed it, and ABS saved me when a school bus jumped out in front of me from a jr. high school parking lot. Always an adventure when driving, but today was a little more adventure than I normally care for.

Welcome to the GM thread, Ortimber. Good luck with all that snow.

Eric, my Wife also has a specific order that she puts things on the conveyor to ensure the cashier or bagger bags them properly. And just to aggravate her, I'm going to start using the word trolley when I'm shopping with her.

We usually have a similar arrangement as Ron; she shops and unloads to inside the sunroom door, and I take them from there.

RNG are the water issue and shift linkage your main problems to tackle before adding the interior?.

Not quite. I need warmer weather for the contact cement to work well on the sound deadening material I plan to install on the floor and walls. And since the van will no longer fit through the garage door opening, it would be nice if it also stopped raining. Looks like we're in for another week of on and off showers.:confused2:

Even while shaking my head, Ted, I'm not surprised at all. Of course, our state government here in Illinois has been running like broken-down carnival ride for as long as I can remember.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

6ºF was today’s low; 18ºF now and I expect to see temps ~freezing later. Light snow has been falling off/on all morning ~1/8” on the ground. An active weather pattern with 3 systems impacting on NE. The first more of a midAtlantic event may bring ~3”, the second ~1” as the tracks too far east, and Sunday night-Monday will be the first nor’easter of the Winter Season and may drop ~8” around here with a rain/snow line setting up somewhere near/along the !95 corridor.

Wifey and I are going to the early matinee today and pick up some kind of take out on our way back home.

I called the plow guy yesterday and left a message that he came here twice and we would pay him for both visits. He called me later and said he would only charge for one plowing. He is concerned about plowing in my Tundra; he may come here next week with his Kubota and move the plow banks. 50.5” of measured snow has fallen here this Winter so far, and my tractor has moved far too little. Poor thing sitting out there in the surrounding snow.

Lynn- Nice rig. Thanks for sharing. That was a lot of digging. I hope that everyone’s muscle groups did not protest too loudly.

Ortimber- Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Kyle- Good luck with your meeting. I truly hope your feedback will result in changes in your Daughter’s program. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for + outcomes.

……. Weird weather is the norm. But I do understand what you mean.- Randy. I agree. NE has weird weather sometimes changing every 15 minutes. It saddens me that discussion of weather vs climate has become so politicized . What is weird to me is that the # of ProMets discussing weather patterns with limited to no historical analogs. One reason for the weather models’ relatively poor performance this year. I look forward to the weather discussions here; a lot of different perspectives essentially in agreement. Personally I like going out 240 hours with the weather modeling realizing predictions approach some degree of accuracy 72 hours out.

Eric- I like to go grocery shopping by myself and try to avoid grocery shopping with the Wife. Good luck.

RonJH- Thanks for the laugh.

Buppies- I hope that your shoulder/arm continue to mend and the aches & pain subside. We use Waze all the time traveling on the highway. We like it for the approaching roadside “heads ups” and route change suggestion due to traffic patterns.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 6:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 53F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.

Got the linkage piece installed yesterday without too much fuss, but finding all six gears is proving to be a challenge. The basic problem is that the shifter is in the front of the van, and the transaxle is in the rear, and that makes for very poor mechanical leverage between the two. I can shift the transaxle into each gear by hand at the transaxle, so I know it's not the problem. I suspect the shim plate that's installed under the shift lever, an aftermarket part which is supposed to decrease the throw of the lever, is also decreasing the throw of the arm on the side of the transaxle, so today I'll take it off and see if that helps things. I did find a good thread at theSamba.com on adjusting the linkage, and it's a pretty cut-and-dried procedure involving a 23mm wide gauge, which I made, and a series of steps that were accompanied by photos. So whatever is amiss, it's not how I'm doing it, but something different with the hardware I'm using.

I didn't want to end the day on that note, so I tried to fire up the Kubota side-by-side and cut some more firewood. But the battery was dead, so I had to push it over by the F250 so the jumper cables would reach. It started right up, so while it was running I went up to get the mail. But the key to the mailbox is on the same ring as the ignition key for the Kubota, and before I could stop myself I'd turned off the ignition. As soon as I did I realized my mistake, and sure enough, it hadn't run long enough to charge the battery enough to start again. So I walked back down the hill, drove the Ford back up to the side-by-side, then played leap frog getting both vehicles back down the hill. That was a half hour I didn't have to waste, but I still managed to cut a bed full of wood and get it stacked before dark. And then I hooked up the charger to the Kubota, and put a new battery on my shopping list for the coming week. One of my inside jobs while it's raining will be to find the receipt for that battery; I think there's still some time left on the Walmart warranty.

The surveyors are supposed to be here this morning to finish up their job, and the building contractor said he'd try to come out with his excavation contractor so he can take a look at the building location. In between that I hope to fiddle with the skylight; the upcoming rains should be a good test for it if I'm successful. If there's any time left after that, I'll have another crack at that shift linkage...

TGIF gang!:drink:

The morning is starting out at 26°. It made it up into the 40's yesterday with partly cloudy skies and windy. Today is going to be in the high 30's and mostly sunny and windy again. Yesterday forecast didn't show the snow we got over night, ended up with about 4 inch. But they are saying we might get another 3-4 inches tonight.

I didn't do much after the trip to town yesterday. I did clean up around the welding table.

I'll go out later this morning and move the snow around. Don't have anything planned after that.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend.
