62°F and foggy this morning. Forecast says 74°F this afternoon but, overcast all day and 20% chance of rain.

There was a multi-18 wheeler wreck, on I-10, in Columbus mid-day yesterday that backed up traffic in all directions for several hours. A lot of the traffic decided to bypass the wreck by getting on highway 90 so ..... backed that up as well. It took me 3 1/2 hours to complete what should have been less than a one hour trip.

With the thunderstorms that came thru all day, I got very little accomplished yesterday but ...... another chance today. We had just over 1" in the gauges at 6 p.m.

I was able to pickup my Weathergard "no drill" mud flaps, for the new F-350, at the Ford Dealer yesterday. Now just need to pressure wash the wheel wells so, I can install them.

LS, I'm very happy with the HF Lynxx 40 Volt tools. I bought the chain saw, pole saw, and blower. I did exchange the first chain saw because it leaked chain oil if it sits for several days. HF cheerfully exchanged it and even told me to just keep the battery and charger from the first saw. Guess what? The replacement one leaks as well. Strange ..... if your using it, it doesn't leak a drop? Guess I just put a diaper on it when not using for several days? I will say that the chain saw and pole saw both cut very well and are much lighter than our Echo chain saw and pole saw.

Everyone have an excellent hump day.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:00AM. Rain. High 52F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a half an inch.

Pretty much steady rain and wind for the past two days, dropping about 3.75" yesterday and gusting to 45mph. Picked up almost an inch already this morning, but it seems to be tapering off. Still lots of wind, though, enough to cause the BBQ to dance around on the back patio, a bit like the rocks at Death Valley National Park's famous Race Track.

I hope Julie gets use of her arm back before your cooking gets the better of both of you, or you lose any appendages, Eric! Might you want to consider some gloves and safety glasses, and careful reading of a cook book?

Good luck with that new electric Husky, Bill. Let us know how your batteries hold up. Lots of good advise on dealing with that tree here; just take things slow and think about what could happen as a result of a cut and you should be fine. Each of my Stihl saws have come with a manual that included many pages of chainsaw safety information. My guess is your new saw has the same, and it's well worth reading, especially if it's been a while since you last did. On the last downed tree I had to cut up, it was sometimes difficult to tell which way a limb or trunk was going to go, or whether to cut from the top or bottom. A while ago I picked up a pair of plastic wedges, and started driving one into the kerf once it got deep enough so as not to interfere with the saw. That kept the blade from being pinched even if I guessed wrong on how the cut would open or close as the cut progressed. But even without a wedge, if you pay attention to the width of the kerf, you can see it opening or closing and stop cutting in time to avoid a trapped bar. Or not, but that's where the FEL and bucket come in handy, as does another saw.:confused2::eek:

Never made it out to the garage yesterday to work on that winch; instead I ordered a new laptop. It seems the other 2011 MacBook Pro succumbed to the same graphics processor malady as did the 17" last year, but instead of spending another $400 to get it fixed, I decided an upgrade was in order of my main MBP. More memory, faster processor and graphics chip hopefully will mean a longer useful life. And repurposing the current MBP to the home control task will let me take advantage of some new features, mainly video processing, that the older versions of MacOS didn't support on the 2011 vintage machine. Avoided the mistake of ordering it directly from Apple and instead found a substantial discount on one offered by B&H Photo. Free shipping should have it here by Monday.

Hope everyone enjoys the ride over the Hump today...

Did my taxes on Tuesday 19th. Refund was deposited in my account yesterday. Wish I could get others to refund money as fast.

It was 26° for the low this morning. Yesterday was in the mid 40's and partly cloudy with some gusty winds. Today is going to be back in the 40's with some clouds this afternoon and windy.

Made a dump run with a neighbor yesterday and picked up a few things in town. It was nice enough to move the welding table in to the sun and practice some welding. I spent a few hours doing that.

Plan on greasing the snowblower and tractor day. And if it's stays sunny I'll play around with the welder again.

Hope everyone has a good hump day.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low only down to 35, going up to 56 and sunny. Maybe some breezes.

Eric, hope the wifey recovers quickly. Patience can be a difficult thing for a lot of people to practice. Hopefully she will head her instructions and perceive her 'relaxing' as a mini holiday!

Drew, Hoping you are making progress with the garden, take care and don't overdo it. Hopefully another helper may be in your near future.

Jay, I hope your knee is cooperating and soon you will be out playing in the woods, or at least on the tractor. You have been able to subdue the urges to do 'stupid' things....let's hope to maintain that control...

RNG, good luck with the new computer. Hopefully you'll be able to accomplish more without any interface problems. We have multiple IPads, mine being the oldest, can't even 'update' it anymore. I'm amazed at the difference between mine and the wifey's, which is about a year and a half old. Her's is so much faster!

Everyone have a great "hump day". Prayers sent

Good evening all. 48F for the start, overcast, calm wind. Light to moderate wind, overcast stayed all day, and high temp was 63F.

Lynn sorry about the new found damage, can you fix or do you have to take it in.

I plan to fix it myself. The parts have been ordered. Of coarse my bride will be over my shoulder instructing me on a better way to do it.

25 degrees today and partly cloudy. It got warm enough yesterday that snow was melting. I might try and get some of my farm equipment moved from my brothers place to mine if it is warm today also.

That was too close for comfort, Randy!
My Monte Carlo is in that little garage, how it missed it I don’t know.

42 now after a low of 26 early, some cold weather on and off before spring like weather gets here later next week.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

5ºF was today’s low temperature, 12ºF presently, and it will not be getting much warmer today. Light powder snow predicted for tonight (20:1 snow:rain); 1” - 4” predicted. The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory.

Eric- I hope that Julie mends quickly. I am sorry to read abut your thumb. Cuts and burns are the facts of life in the kitchen. Stay safe.

Ron- Thanks for sharing the iced over tower picture.

Ray- Thanks for sharing your man cave/studio picture. Your cloud deck outside looks like more snow is coming. I have a similar cloud deck this AM.

Buppies- I hope that your bloodwork provides no - surprises.

Randy- That tree looks awful close to your house.

Ted- Thanks for the + thoughts and support. As you know from your own knee rehab challenges there are good days and not so good days. All the ice and snow outside is saving me from stupid so far. It will be a long +3 weeks until my next ortho appointment. I do not see much real thawing going on the next 3 weeks either.

Lynn- Good luck on the repairs.

I hope that everyone has a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

54 going up to 61 in light sprinkles and some rain at dinner time.
Ten day weather forecast sure opened my eyes. 21 forecast for next Thursday morning.
So...spent an hour yesterday putting up row cover hoops, ordered more online, ordered more plastic online,
I am not going to lose these veggies....what a lot of work though, hoped I'd get lucky but no surprise here.

spent a few hours transplanting more flowers this morning, think I have enough to plant a long row of flowers down the middle of the veggies garden, plus already have a dozen or more little pots of Burpee Pollinator mix growing.

Was really aggravated by DR sending me the wrong pulley for my Rotohog pull behind tiller. First I had to replace the motor last year, uh, I'll say my error. Engine sits in frame on an angle, and I was running it on an angle anyway, tilling sides of foot high rows. Clearly I didn't have enough oil in it as with a clatter, it said that's it. DR suggested I overfill the crankcase by several oz of oil, sounded like they were familiar with this problem.

Then the the axle broke two weeks ago, and I ordered an entire new assembly. That came in three days, most impressive. Could not get the pulley off, bought a 90 dollar US made puller at Napa and promptly bent the pulley. Sigh. Called up and ordered another one and they sent the wrong pulley. Got an email this morning with apologies, don't send the old pulley back, keep it, new one in the mail. Can't ask for more than that and mistakes happen. But I sure did tell him the right size pulley because I had to measure it to buy the puller, an 8 inch very weak pulley I might add, but no stronger than it had to be assuming one wasn't doing the wrong thing, which I did despite the best of care.

I put the manuals for my Kubota F mower in a very secure place. Too secure...now headed back to barn to go through all manuals, plus it would have been on top, since it was recent. Sure need them to sell mower. No response to CL ad yet. I'll give it a month and then I guess I'm forced to deal with local Kubota dealer for consignment sale. Massey dealer sold my L5740 within a week, no surprise there... but wasn't too interested in this admittedly low demand mower. I just need to be patient. Not one of my strong points...

L4N, if by lower branches, you mean those that are now in contact with the ground, it is probably easier to leave those alone between ground and the trunk until last as they will be under a lot of force from the weight above and will want to pinch your shiny new saw. If the tree is not hung up in others and for the most part down on the ground I would clear away branches that are hanging in the air first as they are easy cutting, remove weight and let you get a clearer view of what is left. At that smashed stump, my first job would be to cut away any vertical spiky bits that are waiting to impale you if you lost your balance.

You have plenty of time at the moment, so instead of worrying about cutting that trunk, put the chainsaw away and have some fun instead. Pile some dry branches underneath, light a fire, then we can have a competition to see who can guess how long before it burns through and drops to the ground :)

With only twenty feet to the rest of the bush I am a little reluctant to light any fires. Also the tree was only half dead. The top half still had green on it.

I can't do anything with it until at least 4' of snow leaves. I think I know of someone that will take the trunk IF I can get it out of the back yard. If not then I will just shove it into the bush to rot. That is where the tractor comes in.

PILOON; I am going to invest in a couple of wedges, just in case.

Randy; you had better get a powerball ticket.

49°F and clear skies this morning, going up to ... well, actually falling through the day into the lower 20s tonight. Weather guy suggesting we may get some freezing stuff overnight and into tomorrow morning, but not too specific on what that might be.

Was quite amused on the drive home yesterday by the normally all-business traffic reporter throwing in sarcastic remarks about the terrible driving of some people. Comments like "Congratulations on messing that up" and "Well, that was inevitable" and "How can this happen in such nice weather" had me almost crying in laughter. It was entertaining to hear someone else voice the things that go through my head every day.

Nice of that limb to not crash into your garage, Randy. Very considerate.

61°F and 2.00 inches rain last 24 hours. Forecast to be sunny this afternoon but will have to wait and see. Hoping yesterday’s painting dried enough before it started raining

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

More crazy weather for us. 56 degrees for a low this morning with a heavy mist in the air and going for a high of 62 today. BUT the forecast is for 32 tonight. Yesterday, I noticed the blossoms on one of my Bradford Pear trees. This morning, I had a couple of places to go and I noticed quite a number of trees in the area with white blossoms. And I had to use the windshield wipers only intermittently. So everything is wet, even though my rain gauge hasn't had more that .01" in it.

That tree looks awful close to your house

That is my single garage I replaced the burned building with, if it had fallen that far in the opposite direction it would have hit the house though. I had one fall on my main garage two years ago, but it was a small cherry limb.
But maybe I will buy that lottery ticket though!

Good thing i delayed filing taxes, company said they have mistakes on the W2s and will reissue them.

Hawksbill at sunrise will only happen if im camping up there, lol.

My first date with my wife was on the skyline drive. We hiked a lot of trails when dating.

Eric had best suggestion for that pine, light it up.

I need to order a grapple to help me get things cleaned up.
