30 going to 57 and sunny.

Eric, sorry about your wife.

Roy, sorry Suzette was unable to come home yesterday...hope it clears up quickly.

Ron, I wasn't able to view the frisbee catch...for some reason clicking on the link takes me to a viglink advertisement. But just reading the headline is very impressive.

L4N, sorry about your tree...but 5 feet of snow sounds really cool (for a couple of days).

I'm getting itchy for a mountain hike. May go soon.

Kyle, sounds like you are keeping yourself healthy.

I had an annual eye doctor checkup yesterday...still 20/20 and no problems. I like the way she looks into the back of the eye and talks about NO problems from cholesterol, blood pressure, glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc. I don't like the fact that I can hardly keep my eyes open when I leave because of the bright sunshine after pupil dilation. She did a new test for glare.

Spring is creeping up...clovers are starting to green up, dandelions blooming, red maples taking on a pink fringe from bud swelling.

Kyle, glad your heart healthy and got a fridge. My fridge was ordered without the ice and water on the door, we had so many problems with that over the years and it takes a chunk of space. I have not regretted that decision.

Wow, got to 23 this morning, going to about 50. Cold week next week.

Have a fine day folks, prayers and wishes.

We are in the middle of a three day wind and snow storm. Apparently Cheticamp, which is just on the other side of the mountain from us, had 180 km/hour = 111 mph winds. We had about 90 km. Usually I have a beautiful view out the windows of my man cave. It overlooks over the farm and the harbour but today I can't even see the farm.

Thanks
Ray

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:30AM. Rain and wind. High 48F. Winds SE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. Localized flooding is expected.

"Only" picked up an inch and a half of rain yesterday, but it was pretty windy, especially last night. A couple 40 mph gusts kept me awake. Weatherman, a kind of new guy that usta just be on weekends, last night predicted 10-12" for this area over the next few days. Sure hope he's wrong.

Bill, I think I'd start limbing that tree at the very top, trying to get as much weight off the trunk as possible, and shortening the trunk as I went. I like to cut off small pieces that won't hurt too much if I'm not quick enough to get out of the way.

That sounds like a good recipe for those Costco chickens, David! I love ginger, but had to remind myself about turmeric's wonderful color. Sounds delicious. Last one I did in the Instant Pot wasn't so instant; I like what happens to the chicken overnight in slow cook mode. I substituted two bottles of Guinness Stout for the water, added some smoked sea salt, and left out the vegetables. That black chicken soup was good, too.

Glad the doc didn't find anything too wrong with the BP, Kyle, but hope they figure out what's going on soon. Could it be stress? If so, I'd prescribe more seat time.

Grabbed the bent shifter fork in the jaws of a 15" adjustable wrench and gave it a little tweak to bring it back into alignment yesterday. I was surprised and more than a little disappointed how little force it took. I have a more robust aftermarket set of linkage on order, but the company that makes it has a miserable reputation for slow response and poor communication, so there's no telling when it will show up. :confused2:

Also re-mounted the wind deflector to the top of the big touring bike's windscreen yesterday, from where the ScotchLoc let go somewhere north of the ton on that Christmas ride. This time it went on with stainless steel screws and Delrin spacers to protect the plastic.:D

I have a little winch from Harbor Freight mounted to the lift table to help me roll bikes up the ramp, especially when going back wheel first. I went to use it last week and it will no longer reel in the wire rope; broken just sitting there. Today I'll try to take the control box apart and find a broken piece, but more than likely I'll just end up buying another one. At fifty bux all in, it's not worth a big effort to fix. Before the winch broke, I was going to remove the steering head bearings from that bike and repack them with low temperature grease. I made the mistake of using boat axle grease, and learned last winter that it stiffens in the cold temperatures and acts like a too strong steering damper. That means a lot of overcorrecting until I figured out what was going on, a problem that mysteriously corrected itself once I got to warm Death Valley, then reappeared again on the Christmas ride.

Looks like 32° for the low this morning. Yesterday was in the low 40's but sill had a 20 mph wind all day. Today looks like a repeat of yesterday.

Helping the neighbor ended up taking longer then I thought, I was up there most of the day. Going back up there today to help him work on his skid steer.

Eric .. Wishing you and your wife the best.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low at 30, going up to 52 and sunny! Should be a nice day, mild breezes. They are starting the hype already for an approaching storm for the weekend. Should only be rain, but they are hyping the "wind" associated with it.

Roy, hope the wifey gets released soon! Sounds like progress towards that. Prayers sent.

RNG, I had an issue with a HF winch that suddenly stopped working. Found out it was the ground wire from the batt to the control box. Totally corroded!, inside the insulation. Did a quick jumper with a set of jumper cables and it worked fine. At least a place to start looking.

LNF, be carefull! Those limbs could have a LOT of tension on them! Usually will cut the bottom side to avoid the saw getting pinched, but there could be a hidden suprise.

Hope everyone has a great day. Prayers sent

55°F and a bit foggy here this morning. Forecast says 62°F this afternoon. The predicted rain yesterday .... never materialized but, the radar indicates lots of scattered showers in the area this morning.

I did maintenance on our bulk diesel tank yesterday. Installed a new Goldenrod water block filter and cleaned filter bowl. Waiting on bulk truck to show up and refill the tank. I need to pick up a new jug of Power Services to add to the tank prior to filling.

With the predicted rain today, think I'll head into town and run a bunch of errands that have been stacking up. I ordered some WeatherTech no-drill mud flaps, for our new F-350, at the Ford Dealer and just got a call they they've arrived. That will result in shop time out of the rain.

Hoping for a great Tuesday (Hump Day Eve) for everyone.

Prayers to all.

Good morning all,

32 this morning and cloudy. I think it's supposed to snow.

I ran out of wood yesterday so the furnace has taken over. I have more wood but it's where I was renting while this house was being built. I think I'll go get some today even though I need to go through 2 feet of snow to the field/shed where it's being stored. No way I can take a trailer in there so it'll just be a pickup bed full. (full size bed)

Another note, the damage to my sled is more extensive than my initial thought. The overstructure that the bumper bolts to is also broke. Just the tab that the bumper bolts to but it'll have to be replaced. More time/cost. :mur:

RNG, the center of the tree is supported on its' limbs on top of a mound of dirt about 20' wide. I am thinking tie the tree off on some others to keep it from rolling my way and get to the lower limbs on top of the mound first and lop off the top there. Then work my way towards the stump after I reposition the ropes, still cutting the lower limbs and maybe cut a 10' log or two out of it. I have no intentions of salvaging any of it. 10 footers will be more manageable, is my thinking.
