Don, they sure put a bigger muffler on the Yamaha.

ordered new trans assembly for tiller, DR people very helpful, nice chat with tech about why they didn't offer me a better alternative to the 300 hour throwaway engine they use. Pressure lube engine would last much longer, we both agreed. He said to add more oil if operated on slope, but no more than extra 2-4 oz to avoid oil starvation. Typical splash lube engine, oil flinger spinning in air unless fairly flat.
Tech said buying whole assembly gave all new bearings and seals too, plus much easier to install. Sold.

I never use Ebay because I thought you have to have a Paypal account, yet another financial account I don't need.
Does Ebay accept Visa directly or must you go through their portal?
I've never used Ebay since my original feeling it was the Wild West.
But I bet it's gotten better and it seems Amazon is getting worse.

Yes, PayPal works best with EBAY. I use PayPal to buy and sell things not only on EBAY. When I sell something on Facebook I use it. Pay our house cleaner with it. I hate writing checks.

Good morning all,

Brisk 8 degrees this morning. A few inches of snow last night with several drifts that I'll need to tractor out.:D

Looking like this summer we should have plenty of water for watering the fields. More snow predicted for this week.

Good morning to all! Low of 24, going up to only 36. They are still forecasting a brief period of snow, maybe an inch. They are pretty specific too, saying by 09:00. Then a high wind warning in effect until 7 pm, 40-45 mph with gusts in our area (east of the mountains) as high as 60 mph!

Right now, perfect calm, sunny, just a few dark clouds on the western horizon....Hmmm... I don't know...

Eric, I tried putting my location in on that site. I think it's giving me YOUR sunrise /sunset times at my location....tells me that sunset will be at 00:38, sunrise at 17:10 ??? I tried a couple of times.... Neat site though....

Drew, we had a similar experience buying tree seeds from Amazon. After purchase, no information was given about the seller, just "order processed" then "shipped". After about 2 weeks, a small envelope shows up from China....thought I was buying American tree seeds....

We bought the next batch off Ebay. They came from Georgia in about 3 days, knew exacty from whom. Ebay does not require a paypal account, you can do bank debit or credit card. You can also use those forms of payment through Paypal, that way your purchase is 'protected'. I have NEVER purchased anything from Amazon, the wifey has made 3 purchases through them and all of them turned out to be nothing but trouble. I have made hundreds of purchases through Ebay and as far as I can remember, only had one issue with a seller not shipping the item....Paypal covered and refunded the entire amount in less than 2 weeks.

Today is pin cushion day again, this may be the last session of acupuncture, the knee has more pain and swelling for 2-3 days after getting stuck.... I don't think it's working....

Not much more happening ..... Everyone have a great start to the week. Stay out of any nasty weather if you can. Prayers sent.

Guys, Sara is fine. Late last night, I followed her around the yard, and found “ proof of poop”. She pooped out pistachio shells. Talk about roughage! I was glad I didn’t have to run her up to the vet, last week she ate a tube of hydrocortisone, all we found was the cap and end. X-ray, $180. Nothing showed up, so we don’t know if she passed it or hacked it up, before we found the pieces on the floor. I am thinking of renaming her to maybe Jaws! We have put more effort into puppy proofing the place.

Have a good one!

Eric, tried the link again, still gives me reversed times for my zip code, but has the location correct....tried the next town's zip code and gives me the correct times....go figure... I always thought our little town was strange....NOW I KNOW FOR SURE!!!

Irv, that's great news! Well for Sara anyway...:D Our puppy is spring loaded and is definitely wound tight!! He keeps us busy nonstop....at this point I can't wait for him to get through this 'stage'. Wouldn't give it up for anything!!

Reminds me of a Giant Schnauzer puppy we had about 14 years ago. My granddaughter was sitting in her highchair, the puppy (about 6 months) reached up and pulled her sock right off her foot. The wifey immediately tried to get it back, but down the hatch it went.... Of course I was then on " poop patrol" for a while... As long as the poo kept coming out at the appropriate time, all was good. Never saw the sock....until around 6 months later.... Saw something white over in the corner of the yard....there it was. I can't remember the outcome thereafter:thumbsup::D

Well, it's been almost a half hour since my first post. There was absolutely no wind at that time....now the trees are trying to touch the ground, stuff is flying by, the wind is howling!! Someone turn off the fan and close the window!!

It was 3° again this morning. Looks like we got about 5-6 inches of snow overnight and it's nice and sunny this morning. Today will be in the mid 20's with the wind 20-30 mph and mostly sunny.

I need to go out and do the driveway before the wind picks up. That's about the only thing planned for today.

I see Cat Fever posted this morning, can I blame him for the snow?
Lynn, I hope you are enjoying your new home.

Hope everyone has a great day.
CWB.

32°F and light rain this morning, going up to 38° today. Rain is expected all day and into tomorrow, ending as snow. More rain later this week, and snow this coming weekend.

Got a little bit of stuff done outside on Saturday, when the wind subsided enough to burn the ever growing mountain of cardboard boxes. Sunday was a total loss, as we had freezing rain pretty much all day. The walk to the chicken coop yesterday morning was fun. I got the impression that the chickens and ducks were kind of rooting against me. :confused3: Spent the bulk of the day puttering around in my studio.

An 88 acre parcel of land is up for auction just down the road from us. It's the field that GPS directions take people to when they enter our address . I've noticed the recent trend around here is to divide land into smaller tracts and sell them separately. When our neighbor to the south sold their 15 acres, it was divided into two tracts. This one is divided into two 40-ish acre tracts, and one eight acre tract with a long, skinny access strip from a road on the other side of the property. We're hoping it doesn't get gobbled up by some developer and turned from productive farm land into a crowded neighborhood full of overpriced "country homes."
Not envious of Eric's situation at all.

A friend of mine from South Lake Tahoe traveled to Texas over the weekend and bought three old BMW Isetta 300s. He trailered them back and will restore them, something he loves doing. The dealership where I bought my BMW motorcycle back in the '80s had one of those in their showroom. Neat little cars.

Hope your wife is doing well, Roy.

Kyle, the guitar kit came complete with everything to build a functioning guitar. I only have to supply the tools and the finish. I'll probably be replacing some of the hardware, but most of it will be stock from the kit.

Good morning. With lighter cloud cover it is noticeably lighter this morning than it has been for quite a while. Now we are getting towards mid-February, the extending daylight time in the late afternoon is particularly welcome.

If anyone would like to compare how much daylight we each enjoy, this website is a good place to find out The Time and Place

Where I live in Whitchurch, England, it shows

View attachment 591116

Subtracting sunrise from sunset (which no doubt some can eaisly do in their head - I cheated and used Time Calculator ) gives me 9 hours and 40 minutes of good daylight today.

I expect there will be quite a few reading Good Morning who have more light (way more, if you live in the southern hemisphere) and some who have less, although northern dwellers get extra light from all that bright snow :)

Too much work, Eric.

Weather Underground reports length-of-day for each of the reporting weather stations, under the Astronomy section of the Today tab. For today, in Shrewsbury, for example:

Length of Visible Light 10 h 49 m
Length of Day 9 h 37 m
Tomorrow will be 3 minutes 50 seconds longer

Where I live, it's:

Length of Visible Light 11 h 29 m
Length of Day 10 h 33 m
Tomorrow will be 2 minutes 21 seconds longer

My days are longer now, but yours are catching up fast! Better start resting up while you can.

I hate our vacuum cleaner so much I actually bought one of those cordless Dyson models at Costco last week. It's pretty slick, and hangs on the laundry room wall when charging. RNG, didn't you try out one of those robot ones?

I did. Three of them in fact. All top-of-the-line from their respective manufacturers, all dumb as a bag of hammers, and none of them could reliably climb up onto and down off of the various area rugs scattered around the house. And some became hopelessly tangled in the fringed tassels that adorn the edges. Sigh, I was really hoping to delegate my vacuuming to one of them.

The latest Dyson stick vacuums are getting pretty good reviews from what I've seen. And I've been very happy with my older ball model.

There is a way to pay via PayPal using a credit card, without having a PayPal account. But I think the seller needs to configure PayPal to allow that. Not sure, though, but it's easy enough to look for that option during your next transaction, then bail if you don't find it.

I refuse to use ebay for any seller that doesn't have a brick and mortar store. Just too many bad transactions in my past from idiot or down right dishonest individuals. And even with all the ebay/Paypal safeguards, it's still a royal PITA to get your money back.:muttering:

Good Morning Everyone!!!

21ºF morning low with some surprise accumulating snow showers (1/8”). 24º presently. Today’s high ~ freezing. The NWS has backed down the anticipated snow accumulations with tomorrow’s storm to ~7”, but added a 1/4” of ice. A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted. Areas to my north and west should see NWS Winter Storm Warnings issued. Nasty mixed winter precipitation weather anticipated for this area..

A forester is coming here today. I really need a professional tree service to take down some widow making driveway trees, trees encroaching the house, and some trees down near the solar panels that should be removed (more for the winter shadow)

Irv- I am happy to read that Sara passed those nuts. Something must have been in the canine air this week; yesterday Brogen was caught carrying around a sponge that he found in the bathroom. It must have tasted awful as he spat it out with some yelling on my part; and lately he’s been stealing kindling for chew toys.

Amazon does not give a squat about selling defective, potentially dangerous products. I’ve gotten several canned computer generated responses thanking me for my less than stellar review of those ice cleats. The Portland, OR website front has no physical USA address, but its patent name application is from a Chinese company.

Drew- Good luck with the CBD oil. There are all kinds of CBD products. I hope that it works for you.

RonJH- There is the Northfield power company in MA that uses pumped/stored water to generate electricity. It does raise/lower water levels in the Deerfield River. I do not know how it really impacts on the river. That river is still a decent trout fishery. I have no complaints with PayPal. They are a necessity purchasing Asian drone stuff.

Drew- Chinese prisons are a great source for slightly used human “donor” organ parts. I doubt the donors have much say about their donations.

Ted- Good luck with the acupuncture. It is frustrating to read about all your MCL challenges. My knee hurts in sympathy. There has to be a source that driving the pain and inflammation. I am glad that Mr. Pup passed his yarn.

I hope that everyone has a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, ad prayers.

Good Morning!!!! 35F @ 8:00AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 43F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

China currently enjoys discounted pricing on postage into this country, something that costs the Post Office money and that the current administration is trying to end as part of the trade talks. China is no longer a Third World country, and it's time they stopped acting like one and we stopped treating them as one.

Sent the updated building pad spreadsheet off to the building contractor yesterday, and spent another slug of time trying to get new maps loaded into the resurrected GPS. Apparently the Garmin software for doing so now chokes on the size of the North America set, and even just all of the US, so all that's in there now are the states west of the Mississippi. The program hasn't been updated for several years, yet another sign that Garmin is going the way of the dodo bird. And each time I launch MapInstall, MacOS warns me that it won't run in the next version of the OS unless Garmin provides an update.:muttering:

Loaded in another dolly of firewood yesterday, and it looks like there's only one more load left on the pallet in the garage. It's been a cold month of February so far! Emptied the coals out of the stove this morning already; they were almost blocking the air vents at the back. Saved a few to get the fire going again and it took right off from the Kindling Kracker provided kindling. How's your home-built KK working, Eric? Still got all yer fingers?:D

Took another poke at getting the low coolant level LED alarm to stay off in the Vanagon yesterday, but no joy. I did learn that both the aftermarket level sensor I'm using and a brand new VW sensor produce resistance readings well above the recommended range specified by VW, and now I'm wondering if the Prestone "green" antifreeze is the problem. Or it could be the level control relay, which is also new, or the gauge itself. I have what is supposedly a known working gauge on the way, so I'll cross the bridge with the relay vendor after I try that...

Monday already? Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Shortly after I retired, I wanted a Dell Precision M6500 17" laptop, same as my previously company furnished laptop. Found a reasonably good, supposedly new, one on eBay. I ordered it using my Paypal and it came in less than a week.

I hooked it up and as I was ready to start installing my MS Office, AutoCad, etc. it started throwing up screens showing fake operating system, and one screen indicating it was shown as stolen in Washington DC.

I contacted the seller, via eBay messaging, and was well protected by PayPal. I received an immediate PayPal refund and free return shipping label.

BTW ..... I contacted (at least tried to) Washington DC police to give them the information and after being put on hold and switched around from department to department, I gave up. That was an hour I'll never get back.

I really like Paypal and there is an increasing number of online vendors accepting it.

YMMV

60°F and no rain but winds picked up during the night and a bit blustery. A strange weather pattern but so far rather benign compared to other areas.

Will have to see what the day brings. Would love to get 2nd coat of paint on this set of 2x6s.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

It was 51°F and very foggy here early this morning. Forecast says 69°F for this afternoon but, 60% chance of rain late afternoon.

Fog gave us zero visibility until about 9:30 a.m. then, within 15 minutes, it was completely clear by 9:45 a.m.

As planned, I made "fried chicken" in our Power Air Fryer for dinner last evening. Took four huge drumsticks, seasoned with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning and black pepper. Let them sit and get closer to room temperature, then egg wash and dredged them in seasoned (more Tony Chachere's and pepper) flour. Set the AF to 380° and 25 minutes. Misted the chicken with olive oil cooking spray, after putting it in the AF pan, which helps the crispness. Turned the drumsticks over, after 12 minutes, and misted other side with the cooking spray then finished the cycle.

Not sure which was better, the chicken or the skin.

Think I'll do a "drive by" at local Church's Fried Chicken ......... and stick my tongue out.

Hope everyone has an excellent start of their week.

Prayers to all.
