Randy and RonJ- I am happy to read about your doctors' visits.

David- Thank you. We are planning on going to a really nice restaurant and "close" at ~22 miles away. The menu there rarely changes nor does it need to.

Today's high was 34ºF. An uneventful day.

Happy Birthday to your wife ronjhall.

If you guys get into some hot stuff that all of a sudden you find too hot, drink a little milk. Milk will put the fire out.

Two weeks from today? So her birthday is Christmas Day. And 6 days later will be my wife's birthday. Before we retired, we used to have a New Years Eve/Birthday party with all the neighbors and other friends and famiy on New Years Eve at our house. Lots of winter birthdays.
Yes, hers is Christmas Day. She doesn't recommend it, but wasn't her choice. She complains she never gets to go out on her birthday. Lol

22ーF and clear skies this morning, going up to 52ー today. A few more days of warmer weather ahead, but rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. Looks like we won't dip back below freezing until Sunday night.

Happy Birthday to Betty.

I heard some crime stats on the radio yesterday that suggested overall crime was down in the city of St. Louis. But, even the reporter questioned that and presented some startling numbers. While they like to focus on "gun" crimes, the one that stuck out the most to me was the 2500 cars stolen in the city from January through November this year. That's over 200 cars a month. Those numbers are for the city only, and don't include the surrounding areas of St. Louis County or the metro east communities. That's just insane.
Crime Drops in St. Louis, But Numbers Still Staggering | KMOX-AM

I think they could drop those numbers easily, by the insurance companies requiring new parts only on repairs. Those cars are going to chop shops, to be parted out. Take away the market, take away the reason for theft. SE Michigan had a crazy high rate for T top theft on cars. The insurance companies stopped buying used parts, the thefts stopped.

You always take such numbers with a grain of salt. It's far too easy to manipulate those numbers. A new chief may want the numbers up so it can look like he's taking on a tough job. Then later, he'll want the numbers down to show what a great job he's done. Nothing new about that. I used to annoy our top ranking people in staff meetings by asking, "What's wrong with just telling the truth?"
