Randy and Ron, although we only see reds here, down in Southeast Virginia where I do a lot of hunting, all I see is gray foxes, never red ones.

When I grew up in northeastern NC and southeastern VA, in the 50s and 60s, there were a lot of red foxes as well as grays. Back then there were no coyotes in that area either. There were scattered packs of red wolves.

I would be afraid to put wheels all the way around. For the same reason as she does not like the walker with brakes. Will like it will get away from her. Buy the skids in bulk.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

Temperature was 10ｺF earlier this AM; now 19ｺF; and I might see temperatures hovering ~30ｺF later today.

Randy- Gracie is a cutie. I have the same reaction 努atching football on TV.

Sigarms- Thanks for sharing your snow picture. Your school closings are legit with this weather system.

Eric- Thanks for the laugh and even better your tree cutting story. é„* proper adventure

Bill- Have fun with the tarts. The group box at the closest intersection a 1/4 mile away sustains vehicular damage on a regular basis; usually Friday night through Sunday morning. We prefer to have a PO box.

Thomas- Actually I was copying Gracie for most of that game. I wish that I had slept through the final 6 seconds . The NE may see a snow to mixed precip to mostly rain and back to snow again event this weekend. The weather models do not reflect the upper and lower jet streams phasing with this weekend system and do not agree on track yet. The pending midweek clipper system is moisture starved; the NE may see some scattered snow/snowshowers with that system.

Don- I致e never seen resistive rear wheels for walkers. I agree with RonJ about 4 wheels and walker control and buying skids/sleds in bulk.

Buppies and Billy- Have fun with your snow management. I always liked the first plowable snow event. Later in the snow season and much colder I find moving snow to be somewhat less enjoyable.

Bird- Those skids last a long time on rugs. They wear pretty quickly walking on sidewalks and pavement and many walker owner/operators really do not use their walkers properly as they tend to slide and not lift their walkers when walking.

The low was 14° this morning. Yesterday wasn't to bad at all, sunny and in the low 40's. Warmer then they said it would be. Today should be in the high 30's and partly cloudy. The forecast still shows a change in the middle of the week.

One of the neighbors and I ordered manual windshield wipers for our side by sides a few weeks ago. They finally showed up this weekend. We plan on getting them put on today. I told him that I was going to let him be the first to drill a hole in his windshield. If we have any problems we can get it right the second time around. I'm not sure if he thinks that's a good idea.

Don't have much else going on today.

Buckeye, wow, put together nicely. Now if you could put it all in a Box you could market it to many churches for their home bound members.

Someone has, at $25 month. I asked them a couple questions, then realized i could do it for $0 a month using facebook.

If anyone needs help doing this, i can write more detailed instructions. You need a computer, internet access, an IP camera, audio source if the camera doesnt have it. You dont necessarily need an IP camera, there are hardware converters for analog cameras that can also be used, but IP cameras are cheap. I used an amcrest 4MP with zoom.

I have it setup on my laptop at home also, i can quickly watch/record any of my ip security cams with it.

Oh my gosh, Buppies, you win the snowfall award this morning! :shocked: Hope everyone takes it easy in the white stuff; don't wanna hear about trips to the hospital...

That was quite an adventure, Eric. Very nice of Mother Nature to wash that tree before you brought it into the house!:laughing:

Speaking of trees, there are a dozen and a half dragged over to the pasture next to the wood lot, just waiting for someone with a chainsaw to limb and buck them. All of them had been burned, but very oddly only at the root end for the first foot or so. All I had to do was throw a chain on them and pull them along with the tractor. All except for two, one of which got stuck in the fork of an adjacent tree, and needed decapitating with the chainsaw, and another that fell down hill and half the root ball was still firmly attached to the earth. More chainsawing got it free, but not before the bar got jammed requiring a careful pull to spread the cut back open. Only had the front wheels in the air a time or two trying to pull something too big; I think it was L4N that warned us earlier that could happen and it was a good reminder. I do that kind of thing very slowly, and never try to take a run and jerk the chain even though it just might break something loose. More likely to break something on the tractor or worse. Anyway, still have two very big oaks to bring in, and both of those will have to be sectioned up before they can be moved. I was half way through sawing one of them up last night when the saw unexpectedly quit, and when I checked the gas the cap fell into pieces. Was it you, Eric, that was complaining about Stihl gas caps? Will have to get a new one in town today. Only picked up 0.01 inches of rain overnight, so it should be dry enough to get a few more trees in this afternoon. It's sad to see so many on the ground, but the fire also burned the five greyhound buss sized brush piles I was counting on to provide firewood in my golden years. I'll try to take better care of this batch.

Well, I got the mail. I thought the PO opened at 8:30. It doesn't, it opens at 9, so I sat there for the half hour and listened to Jeff Foxworthy. The tarts have thawed out. All 9 boxes of them. I guess I will just have to eat them. I certainly will NOT trash them. Next time and there will be a next time, I will just take the almost 80 dollars I spent on tarts and give it away and not order any tarts.

I cannot get Bramley apple tarts in this country. I can't get Bramley apples in Ontario either. Anybody that grows them doesn't ship them.

Good morning to all! Low of 28° this morning, going up to 42°. Clear and sunny.

Got back from Colorado later than expected last night. I was just plain wore out from driving. We stayed later than planned, so all of the driving was in the dark. That probably contributed to the 'being wore out'.

Good trip overall, but went too fast. Did some things around my daughter's house (little maintanance type stuff). She has a Ford Excursion she uses for her family road trips. She went to start it last week and it was dead...not even a click. Jumped it and got it started, but wouldn't stay charged. Looked at the sticker on the battery and it was only 16 months old. We went into Durango and she was able to get it replaced for free under warranty. Works fine now. It was a big deal for her to get it fixed. She'll be bringing the family 'big group' down here for the Holidays.

Today will involve taking some packages to the PO for shipping. Then just take it easy and get some needed rest.

Jay, we had a PO box for probably 20 years. The local boxes are about a mile away at a larger offset type intersection. It seemed they were always being 'taken out' by a non attentive driver failing to negotiate the offset in the road. It only took the powers that be about 15 years to realize they could move the whole cluster back about 100 feet and avoid the situation. I think they probably had replaced the boxes at least 20 times. Since moving them, they haven't been hit. When the POBox fees went up to $72, and the local boxes weren't hit anymore, we opted to do the local box for free....so far so good for about 3 years.

You guys getting the snow / nasty weather, take care, go slow, be careful....no falls or injuries needed!

Drew, glad the Audi did good! Are you missing the tractor yet? Glad the grapple worked out good.

Exactly, she goes through $100 of skids and tennis balls every few months, Thats why she needs wheels in the back with friction resistance (so it would not get away from her) that would turn hard instead of scrape and wear down.
I called Kaye medical equipment and they have nothing for adults. Their variable resistance wheels ( exactly what I'm looking for) fit their speciality children's physical therapy walker only.

I'm tempted to order a set and see what I can rig up.

Don- This site may be of interest to you and your Mom: Press Down U Step II Walker : easy to use brakes The design seems to address some of the challenges of handbrakes for arthritic fingers, hands, and wrists.

I cobbled together walkers and wheelchairs with spare/surplus/used parts. There is a fair amount of standardization with hole spacing and pins. I just wonder if those pediatric wheels would fit your Mom's walker? If the frame tubes are the same diameter.

Ted- I am happy to read that your return home went w/o incident and that you had a good time with family. I hope your knee did not "complain" too much.

The group box I mentioned sits by guardrails at the intersection where it is an inclined curved, sloped poorly, and open for wind gusts and snowdrifts. Due to the usual periods and timing of damage "inattentive" = DUI. Not a lot of choices; it's either hit the guardrail, hit the mailbox cluster, and/or go airborne and it's a serious drop off.:eek

David- I hope that you finally get some dry weather.

RNG- I am looking forward to reading about your trip and your adventures.

Back from PT. Arm is on ice. Sure hope it goes better in future visits. They were very carful. But it does not take much to get pain started. Little bit at a time should get me back to full motion by spring.

17°F and clear skies this morning, on it's way up to 39° today. Supposed to get up around 50° the next few days.

Crazy day here at work today. Apparently, my three days off was almost more than they could bear. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in this building who's not deathly afraid of metric measurements. I'll never understand that, as metric is so much simpler. Wondering how they'll fare when the same thing happens this coming weekend.

Eric, you can assure your puppy that no dogs are harmed in the making of Happy Dogs Hot Sauce. It was named after the three dogs they had when he started making it (all have since passed). Patrick and his wife are both animal nuts, and I believe he donates a portion of his profits to local animal shelters.

Don, I find it not too dissimilar to Tabasco in heat level, which I consider a fairly mild-to-medium sauce. It won't have you seeing Aztec temples or anything.

CWB, if the windshield is polycarbonate, get a proper sized piloted hole saw. Using some water with Dawn detergent for coolant, drill your pilot hole and then cut about halfway through with the holesaw. Finish from the opposite side.

I like Frank's red hot sauce too.
