14F this morning, my new LaCrosse weather station from Costco sent me an alert when it got to 15F (I set the alert to see how it worked)..

Wife had me order a new stainless sink and faucet from Costco, UPS put it on side porch as normal, I decided to put it in garage, never gave it a thought until the back pain started flaring later... my lifting days are over until this back pain gets sorted out..

It's 19° this morning, yesterday was mostly sunny and in the the low 30's. Looks like today will be about the same.

Finally got the tire chains on the side by side yesterday. That will make it easier getting around. Making a trip into town this morning to do some shopping. Going to pick up a new block heater. And talk to the dealer about why they keep going out.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

54° here this morning with forecast for 68° this afternoon. We're expecting same big rains as Don here tomorrow as well. 4-6" possible.

Decided to take the Corvette into town for its annual State Inspection yesterday. Got in and the battery was totally dead. Put a charger on it and it wouldn't take a charge? Corvette is a 96 C4 and this is it second battery so guess they don't last forever.

To get the battery out, you have to remove the body panel directly behind the driver's side tire. Since last battery replacement was over ten years ago I had to think a bit to remember how to remove the fiberglass body panel.

IMG_0357.jpg

Called local Chevy Dealer about an ACDelco replacement and they didn't have one in stock. Had they had one their price was over $250 for the pleasure of having an OEM battery.

Went to Wally World and got one with 5 year warranty for $94. No brainer.

Battery in, panel replaced. It started right up so ..... will try again for State Inspection.

Hope everyone has an excellent day!

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Partly to mostly cloudy this morning, low at 38°. Storm system moving in by this evening, a total mixed bag of precipitation expected....rain, sleet, snow, freezing rain. Depends on elevation, time of day, etc... Supposed to be like that for the next 3 days.

Ortho doc visit went well. Took the stitches out. He was surprised that it was still as swollen as it is. I will start PT in 2 weeks. He reported 2 more meniscus tears, one on the inside of the knee, one on the outside. Probably caused by the " re-injury" at work the first time I went back on light duty....the reason why it wouldn't heal.

Don, I too, see the "snake man with the cap". No video of the concert?

Drew, tractor view from the cab looks nice. Don't get too comfortable in there, a nap might sneak up on you:zzz:
Talking about HP ink cartridges... Some years ago, because of the cost of cartridges, I decided to try one of those refill kits.... Seemed simple enough.... So, sitting at the kitchen table, the wifey intently watching, I started filling the cartridge using the supplied syringe full of black ink. All of a sudden...POP !!... That ink went everywhere... I'm not kidding... We looked like Dalmations  that ink does not come off. We tried everything. Took almost a week for the spots to finally disappear. I definitely got people laughing when I told the story of what happened. There are still some very faint spots on the kitchen table.

Bird, glad you made it through the fall without any major hurt... The way you described it made me chuckle...just because of similar "been there, done that" situations. I usually describe the scene as being like an air crash...by the debris field, you can tell where the fall started, and where it ended.

Ron, good luck at the Doc this today, hope you get good news.

BEF, yep lecture # 15.... Also #'s 1 thru 12 usually follow :confused2::D

RNG, hope you get over your respiratory gunk... Take care

Errands are on the agenda for today...hopefully we will be done before the weather sets in.

Everyone have a great day, prayers and thoughts for all sent out.

Drew, if you look real close in the pic while you were in the tractor planting the poppies, there is a big black vehicle with two guys in it taking pictures of you....

Naw, just kidding....

Dr took half the arm brace off. Still recommends that I wear a sling while away from home Incase someone wants to grab my arm and shake hand. Start PT Monday.
Flashpuppy, that does not sound good. Like Bird be careful.

RNG- I hope you shake your respiratory illness soon.

Ron- Good luck with the PT. I hope your rehab progresses w/o incident. Good luck with the remaining scheduled doctors visits this week.

Bird- I am happy to read that you sustained no real damage other than to your ego. I hope that you recover quickly.

Flashpuppy- I hope there is nothing broken and that you recover quickly.

"… nor intend to have amorous Bubba as my roommate. ”- Drew We’ll chip in and buy you some soap on a rope. Any particular scent?

Hawkeye- I am sorry to read about your back. Please take care.

Rick- I am happy to read that your corvette is up and running again. It amazes me how difficult simple car maintenance has become…. and every replacement part is a $$$$$ “kit” with components one does not really need. A really nice looking car. Thanks for sharing.

Ted- I am happy about the orthopedic exam, but sorry to read about the MCL damage. Take it easy with the PT. I hope this will be your last knee challenge. That weather system tracking your way is pretty strong. That storm will probably be "out to sea for me." Actually the NE looks pretty snowless after today’s/tonight’s passing cold front’s snow showers for the 7 days.

18F during Walk#1. Today’s highs should hover around freezing; the warmest it will be until next week. Venus was so bright this AM that it probably would have cast a shadow on the snow if I turned off my headlamp. Light snow showers this AM; a gift from the Great Lakes. It still amazes me how those snow plumes/snow impulses make it to my location (~600 miles). Nothing really planned for today.

I hope that everyone has a decent day. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Don, I too, see the "snake man with the cap". No video of the concert?

SEE I'M NOT Crazy!!! Thanks LS and Newbury. Whew!

I was too far to the back at the concert, next year I'll know where to sit to get the video of the 80 YO whip lady, trumpeter horse whiny, and horse trotter drummer during the sleigh ride song.

SEE I'M NOT Crazy!!!

nah, it's the poppy dust coming through the internet...

spent a fun two hours retilling the fields, got warm in there, almost drowsy... lot of lumps of grass (hey goes along with my pots and poppies...)
and then cranked up to full speed on the last lap smoothing those lumps out, at 1.6 mph.
Tractor didn't get very dirty, blew it off with cordless blower. Might just leave the tiller on there as a counterweight, sits pretty close to the tractor unlike a mower. Will put mower on in late March to start mowing roadsides.

now I should do something productive but got up at 4am and a nap is sounding pretty good right now.

34°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 39° today ... although, at 37° now and slowly dropping, I don't think we'll make it. Supposed to get some rain and snow mix, changing over to all snow after noon and about 1" accumulation. Should make the drive home interesting.

You guys who are falling and dropping things on your feet ... stop it.

Since we got a new bed a couple years ago, I've slammed my toes into the middle support legs on the sides probably a dozen times. Wifey wrapped some short sections of "pool noodles" around them, and I've still managed to get my toes under them a couple of times. Man, does that hurt.

Today is Friday for me. I had a couple of unused vacation days left, so I'm using them to make every weekend in December a long weekend. I don't hate this.

Good "morning" all, 30 this morning going to 41 and mostly sunny. Wife got up early this morning so I slept in, wow two days in a row. Been taking benadril for my sinus and the swelling in my shoulder went down. First time it feels like my arm since the end of June. Still hurts if I move it wrong but the "tooth ache" in it is mostly gone. Been to the grocery this morning and now wife is taking a nap so I am watching the boy.

Kyle, your girl can sure sing, made me cry listening to her. Prayers sent, Don thanks for sharing.

Ron, glad for the good news. Praying you continue to recover.

Friend of mine sat the landing gear of a semi trailer on three toes, the dr just cut what was left of them off. Prayers for your foot.

Have a great day, prayers sent Ed

Kyle, very nice!

L4N, the way State Farm has handled my claims since 1984, I think they are the best in the world.

Another cold dry day, heading to Elizabeth City for a quick visit and drop off a tree at dad’s grave.

Good evening all and God bless.

Watching the Funeral of President Bush, I can’t help but think back to attending the funeral procession of General Douglas MacArthur In Norfolk, VA when I was 11. A lot of pomp and circumstance, but also a deep respect and reverence for the man. We won’t see the likes of these Americans of that generation for a long time if ever. Patriotism over politics, duty before self.

Ed- It's hard to appreciate "restfull sleep" until they re-experience it. I am happy to read that your pain is more manageable and you can get some real sleep.

As I experience #41's goodbye I reflect that what I feel is more about who we are rather than what we've become as a society.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 28° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with some snow flurries in morning. No accumulation. Listened to the eulogies while traveling around to my various stops yesterday. Very inspirational. This morning is that doctor appointment I have been waiting 8 weeks for. No other plans.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

I watched as much of Bush's train ride to College Station as possible. Then when it got here, around 4:10 I jumped in my car and headed over there to see the squadron of F18's. When I was a mile or so away, they went over the Bush Library in groups of 4 diamond pattern. The cloud ceiling was waaaay tooo low to do anything else. It was pleasing to see all the patrons lining the train tracks for the 60 or so miles.

We've had some clear, sunny weather lately, although a bit cool. And now the NWS says it's 50 degrees going for a high of 51. Yep, more or less steady temperature with a light breeze from the south,, and a gradually increasing chance of rain today with 100% chance tomorrow and tomorrow night.

And old age gets worse all the time. I tripped on the step at the patio yesterday afternoon, dived between 2 chairs and under the table, scattering furniture and making enough noise that my wife came running out to see if I was dead. Haven't seen her move that fast in a long time. I still have no idea how my right leg got stuck between the seat and arm of one of those chairs. So I had to put a big band-aid on my left arm to stop the bleeding, and my left elbow and right shoulder are a bit sore this morning, but no serious damage. She didn't really need to tell me that I need to be more careful.

Bird, glad your alright.

Welp... I am an idiot. Managed to break some very basic tractor safety rules yesterday evening and dropped a rear grader blade onto my foot from raised 3pt height. Not sure if it is broken, but it dang sure is not prettythis morning. Really am not able to walk on it at all.

Pretty mad at myself about this. I am a big stickler for safety and am always preaching it at my wife and our toddler as well as all my guys at work. I work in heavy industry and have seen horrible accidents. Making sure everyone goes home with all their fingers and toes is always my first concern. Yet here I am breaking every basic rule because I was in a hurry...

Guess this is gonna slow me down for a little while.

That doesn't sound good. Hoping for the best.

Glad your arm felt better, King for a day. Since June anyway.

Kyle, that was YOUR daughter? Absolutely amazing....brought tears to my eyes. She is exceptional.

Not sure if I typed something out of context, but that is not my daughter. But she is beautiful

So, my nieces husband got to ride in the co pilot seat of one of the F18's. He works at the Naval Air Station in Fort Worth. Will have to yak at him to see what it was like. I enjoyed seeing the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets being there, the band, and the singing Cadets. They are going to put that locomotive at the library eventually.

RNG, hope you get feeling better. Not fun to feel crappy for days on end. Fresh air is NOT over-rated.
