good morning all. Very quiet on this property in VA countryside. Got a ride yesterday in a 1931 Model A rumbleseat, that was a first. Took pics of barn finds, two Jag 140s in awful shape, one Vega Cosworth twin cam with Summit Racing stickers all over it. Funny thing is I might have seen this old Chevy race, used to go to Summit Raceway and watch showroom stock cars squeal around the track, way more fun that real sports car.
I was worried about my friend not keeping his house warm enough but zero problems with that, giant old water radiators throughout the house have kept it warm. Best part is he doesn't pay for heat/LNG; Texas Eastern has a big pipeline nearby and the deal for running across part of this property was free LNG for life.
Of course the owner of this place is so rich, six or seven houses all over the world, that free gas is almost humorous. Apparently this property is the last remaining estate still owned by the family of one of our first five Presidents, still at original 2000 acres. I was told that once Monroe was elected President, Jefferson came out here, looked at the place, said you need a new home, and designed this place. The gardens went on and on and on. Five full time people working the place.
Don't have the patch cord to load pics from Apple phone, will wait until I get home.
Headed downtown to little Aldie this morning to check out the car garages of my step brother, he has an Amilcar (French)stored there, among other things. Won't sit in that, I could barely fit into the Model A, not much room inside. Old cars are neat but not all that comfortable.
Then off to my brother's later this morning. They say this Thanksgiving will be the coldest on record for many.
