Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 4:15AM here in Chico, CA. A good deal of sunshine. Expect widespread areas of smoke and haze, reducing visibility at times. High 63F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Guess I'm still a TBN newby; no shirts, hats, or coffee cup, yet...
More evacuation orders were lifted yesterday, but not the ones covering Yankee Hill. Lots of homes were lost in the area, and I suspect the evacuations won't lift until search and rescue teams have cleared the human remains. There are still almost 700 people unaccounted for. This is the map that matters most now:

My hosts got a wild hair for a tandem bicycle, so yesterday we rode down to Davis in my truck to pick up a new-to-them Schwinn Twin in bright yellow. The thing was made in 1971 and looks brand new. Lots of smoke in the air all the way down there, but it was definitely thicker the closer we got back to home. Hopefully the coming rains will clear the air considerably, as well as helping to dampen down the fires. Fingers crossed...
Finally got through to an electrical contractor about installing a transfer switch for my generator. He sez that Butte County is taking six to eight weeks to approve permits, but he's working with them on an expedited process. So it looks like I'll end up pulling the meter out of the service panel and wiring in the generator myself when I get home. Probably be a good idea to change the oil in it, too, so I've got some shopping to do today. Also need to pick up the ham for our Thanksgiving dinner.
