What's up with the one that has white feathers. Mixed with a domestic turkey?
..........................
We had white young turkey several years back also other folks in the area soooo guess its not uncommon...just makes it easier for the predators.

Until it snows.

interesting trip to Massey dealer. Utility tractor with Sisu, Finnish motor, and built in China to very high spec.
Got a 19 percent off first quote on a 73K tractor that cost at least ten thousand more than I thought it would be.
Now we had to go up one model to get that, the
4708 instead of the 4707 which is what drove up the cost. He said safer to have a minimum of 70 pto hp in this area and I have to keep local resale in mind. Next week I go look at JD. The lowest horsepower model would be fine for me actually, same weight and loader specs, but it has regen instead of DEF and I'd prefer the latter. Still might consider that. At 100-150 hours a year, can't be all that much regen going on, nor would I use that much DEF. DEF makes more sense to me, less emission controls on engine.

Local cotton is starting to get picked, looks very healthy.

heart is still pounding from another run in an hour ago with tenant farmer, once again discing up my leased land, once again pulling up my stakes. Got ugly this time, he knows I'll call the police on him next time. It's an odd sized lot so he wants to cut through mine. Tough. Stay off my land. I stated at high enough volume the entire neighborhood heard it. I went out and pounded in metal stakes this time. I heard from other locals that he's done this multiple other places, the man is a fool. Renting land from the drunken farmer who lost his farm. What a pair.

Good morning! Clear day 57˚ heading to 70˚ finally getting back to normal for late October, we can save that cold weather for February.

Randy, I did not see any 75' Pinto Hatchbacks in the bunch. :confused3: Rings? Just enough info to tease, or should we say congratulations:cool2: on your engagement!!!!???:confused3:

A chinees cherokee wedding theme, now that sounds interesting.

No engagement, just having fun with cheap rings.

Drew
I suspect you neighbor problems aren’t going to fade away.
Any chance you could file an information report with local PD?
Maybe you write up a detailed report of both incidents (before and after pics?). File a copy with the PD and send a copy registered mail to offending neighbor. Would put both on notice and negate neighbor pleading ignorance.

. . . . . . . . And while I'm on a recycle rant, how about making it a requirement that all political lawn signs be 100 percent recyclable. Now there's a waste of resources for sure. A blight on the neighborhood, ever see an attractive one?
Do you think the loser is really going to save all those signs? The incumbent might, but otherwise all that plastic goes into the landfill.
I can only imagine how many Cruz signs there must be stuck in the ground right now in Texas. . . . . .

Drew, those signs are pretty costly. {the middle sized ones were 10 bucks each in 2012} Anyone who thinks they are going to run again will pick them up. Or even hold on to them after they are out of office. They are good for all kinds of projects around the farm. The stands make pretty good tent stakes. I had a few of them under my pole barn.

Good evening all. 53F this morning, overcast and some drizzle, 1.6 inch in gauge, light wind. Ground stayed wet all day, clouds/drizzle moved out about 3PM, high temp 59F. Was going to ride but lack of dry roads put me off, possible ride in Farmersville Saturday. No progress on van, did get nap in.
Drew sorry to hear about neighbor run-in
Randy didn't see any Vega hatchbacks either:laughing: Enjoying your pics
RNG, sorry to hear about the wiring issues, hope that goes with minimum fuss and you get your documentation.
Ron that 'Vette would get my blood flowing at idle :drink:
Ed hope your inspection went well, how often do you have to get inspected?
prayers for all.

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 9:15AM. Mainly sunny. High near 80F. Winds light and variable.

. . . . .Lots of bad news out there, and when it leaks into the stock market, prices drop as uncertainty increases. Maybe time to take a nibble or two while prices are low, but probably too soon just yet. . . . .

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!
Any news that is good for workers is bad for the market. A company lays off 10% of it's workforce, and the stock price goes up. Low unemployment means wages my go up, so stock price goes down. But I think this is just our regularly scheduled correction. Ten years is long enough for every one to forget the last down turn, so they think it is never going to happen again. {but it always does}

It's a cool 66F at the Larro Ranchero. Has been spitting rain since early afternoon. But the radar says it's cleared up enough for me to get some miles in tonight. It's been a challenge staying inside at night since the power came back on.

Life is so easy for the elite powered folks. Put coffee grounds and water into a machine, turn it on and coffee comes out. No measuring fuel for your stove, or starting a fire in the grill. And you can charge your devices without going out to crank your car. Just plug them into the wall. And I won't even start on water. {I haven't taken down my rain catcher, so it should be pretty full if I do need some extra flushing water}

32 right now...high in the lower 40's today.
Boy, the bug I have is finally subsiding somewhat. The aches, pains and stomach problems have abated....still a hacking cough, but that's better now too...
I think this weekend is going to be chore free (at least outside stuff) until this thing is done.

Up early today so I can go in early to do what's called a Gage R&R on 3rd shift. This is a method to determine how well a measurement system works.

Our dry weather has come to an end with a few showers passing over. With a bit of luck it won't be anything to rival what Bird has been getting and should clear again by the afternoon.

CWB, although your elk haven't been as cooperative as those Randy came across yesterday (thanks for pics Randy, what beautiful animals), the if/when/where uncertainty of it all must make every trip out thrilling.

No such exciting uncertainty for me, I'm about to go round the sheep now that daylight has arrived and I'm pretty sure I will be returning elkless

That's getting to be quite an expensive machine Drew. Are you sure about all the pros and cons of going for a larger tractor ?

Ignoring the money, I still wouldn't get anything larger than what I have now. A bigger tractor would certainly make for faster field work, but as I get older I find it quite enjoyable to go at a steadier pace. Smaller is much handier when working close to buildings. Whatever you get, I can highly recommend spending the extra few hundred dollars on an air suspension seat, especially for those of us with ageing bones.

38 and clouds building for a 47 rain this afternoon.

Roy, glad you're feeling better.

Randy, nice elk pix...to add to what Buppies said, they have been reintroduced in several other states like Kentucky and Virginia, and now there are thousands in the east...where they once were native. They seem to thrive on reclaimed coalfields where meadows have been planted.

Finally brought a load of firewood and kindling up on the porch...a little late this year. Went over to the neighboring county to bow hunt at my son's place yesterday afternoon.

31 and headed for 39F. 30% chance of rain/snow. Wind SE 6 mph. Most likely it will be rain.

My new Mukluks came yesterday, now to break them in. Lined with rabbit fur including the feet and I put rabbit fur insoles in them.

I think today I will conserve energy.

Have a good day all

Good morning all, 38 going to 45 with a 100% chance of heavy rain. The inspection went well, everything passed. Don't have to worry about that for another year. It was really a nice meeting, after the inspection we sat around a chatted for a bit. Need to go to the grocery today, not sure what else, will see.

Larro, you sound like someone dealing with culture shock after returning from a 3rd world country. After 4 trips to asia I am kinda stuck there, this culture is a lot of effort for a lot of "fluff". Glad things are slowly getting better. prayers sent for the many things that are still .....

Drew, it does sound like this guy is good at playing the game, would go ahead and head him off if I could. Hope the tractor search goes well.

Randy, thanks for the pretty pics.

Hope everyone has a great day, prayers sent. Ed
