a cool 48 this morning going to mid 70's today.
Going to take a few portable heaters down to friend's house today, her hvac system isn't being fixed from the hurricane until next Wed and I bet it's getting chilly in the house. Hvac folks, and most trades actually, are still really swamped from hurricane damage. Awful lot of electrical panels and hvac equipment ruined.

I was pretty lazy yesterday and spent a beautiful afternoon reading a book. After mowing everything and storm cleanup I needed a break.

anyone ever lose one of those expensive electronic car keys and have to replace it? Big bucks. So a big smile on my face when out from under the passenger seat of my truck slid my spare set of truck keys, missing for six months. :thumbsup:

I think we are all feeling LS's knee pain. Sure hope they fix it right this time. I think I might be getting a second opinion by now. And Ron, feel better each day.

8 inches of rain a year. Not like a lot of veggies are going to grow in that....wow that's dry.
I'm assuming any local farming is done totally through irrigation, like California.

going to cook some Smithfield sausage this morning with no preservatives in it, nice that more options are here but finding healthy food in the processed pork department isn't easy.

I have the same saw...can't beat it for those smaller clearing jobs, limb trimming (annual requirement before mowing season) and such. Since I have other EGO products (string trimmer and leaf blower) I have three batteries but only one charger. I've been pretty impressed with the saw and trimmer...not so impressed with the leaf blower

Have you tried your saw with different capacity batteries Roy ? Mine came with the 2 Ah and that leaves a safe amount of lubricating oil left when the battery goes flat. With the larger capacity batteries you must need to check the oil tank and refill long before the battery ran out of power.

I will try and get a measure of how long this battery lasts next time I'm cutting firewood and report back. My guess at the moment is that 2 AHr is just short of what a full tank of fuel would do with my Stihl MS181. It won't replace my larger Husky for when there is a lot of heavy cutting to do, but once I get another battery I can see it taking over most jobs from the little Stihl as it's so easy to use.

First day of the season in the 30’s. 33 going to 50 today. Looks like foggy to start with clouds all day. Will be in the 30’s every night this week. Time to keep the pellet stove fired up.

Good morning all. I've been out for an hour in the rain and now I'm more than ready for breakfast, just waiting for the porridge to cool and congeal to the consistency that reminds me of long ago autumn holidays at Aunt Gladice's guest house. We would sometimes go there for a couple of days around this time of year when there were few tourists around. Too cold to play in the sea, but I didn't care as long as I could collect conkers, which I would polish to a high gloss, each one a potential future champion.


Kyle, that's a smart looking gator your FIL has bought. Is it still called a "utility" vehicle with those fancy wheel rims - they don't look all that utilitarian

When the guy that was going to erect the portable shelter didn't arrive by 10:45 (he said he would be here around 10) I called him. He said he was going to call me, to let me know that he wouldn't be doing it yesterday due to a family emergency. Rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon rain or shine.

Why do you think doctors call their offices 'practice'? Because they are trying to get it right. If you want to get good at something, you gotta practice. And this Dr. is practicing on you. At your expense.
LS, I sure hope that your Dr. does it right the second time and for free.
When you take your car into a garage to get it fixed and it is still doing the same thing when you get it back, IF you go back to the same garage the job is called a 'come-back' and the mechanic gets to do it again for nothing, $0.00.

All summer long while I was in the northwest part of Ontario, my knee was golden. No pain at all. I get back down here in the south and the pain and unreliability is back, with a vengeance.
Thunder Bay is on the northwest shore of Lake Superior and South River is about 35 miles south of North Bay. As the crow flies distance is about 500 miles (720 by road) and it is so much drier up there compared to here.
NO I am not getting my dam knee fixed. I will continue to do the MM and use my cane down here. The cane is never too far away from me.

I am off to the boat to get the batteries out and bring them home for the winter, at 10 this morning.

Bill, it took my brother six months, instead of the six weeks he was hoping for, to heal from a knee replacement. And now two years later, he is starting to play tennis again. If you aren't into sports or need the mobility for work, lot of downsides if things don't work out.
But medicine has never been guaranteed, hard to do that when we are mostly fluids and chemicals. The structural part, the bones..., you would think they would get that right by now.

They got the five inches of titanium in my neck right. Worked better than I thought. Allowed me to keep going and do all this play farming. Without it, would likely have been in a wheelchair by now. I think we all heal at different rates. And after you yank a tendon off a bone or break something, I think there will always be weakness there. Just don't give me 40 percent use when I could have had 80...

There is a new procedure out, announced by hospital in my old home town, saying the artificial spinal disc they have been putting in the lumbar area is now available for cervical use. Yeah. Supposed to greatly reduce number of fused necks like mine. But...how about replacing C6 for me, where my fat head now rotates around on a metal rod, all on that one little spot. Boy I'd like to get the one underneath it all replaced, as now it's just bone grinding on bone. I lost all my cartilage years ago, dropped two inches in height.

So yeah, could be major upsides to new surgery. And I could also become a quadriplegic.
Which would surely cut down on tractor seat time.
Lots to consider. My MIL sent me the article on the local hospital, bless her.

there are all these wonderful words for things that don't work. RNG will chuckle about this.
Non optimum results. Doctors have some standard lines. Rarely will they say any fault lies with their work.
So it's hard to tell what's going on. Second chances are good. Second chances that don't work means it's time
to find another specialist.

Went to the Folk Festival yesterday. Great time, we learned to polka and danced to a polka family band from Muskegon, Michigan. Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee Lewis' little sister) played some rockabilly, we also heard zydeco, blues, bluegrass, reggae, etc.

Drinking first cup of coffee, 35° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 59° with some clouds. First of the season. Got a lot more than my normal amount of sleep last night. Feel much better now that I am off the Opiods. More rest today. May take a walk outside to pick up some branches that have fallen over the week. Nothing else happening. NASCAR in afternoon.
