Those using an Apple iPad to post here might be having problems with garbled text when trying to type an apostrophe (') or quote ("). In Settings...General...Keyboards..., I turned off Smart Punctuation, and the problem seems to have gone away. I guess Apple's programmers aren't smart enough to check their own work...:muttering:

Thanks for the tip. I almost exclusively use my iPad for TBN. I thought maybe the issue was with the "TapaTalk" app. I turned off the "smart punctuation" so ...... let's see what "happens" with all the weird characters.

I do know the "TapaTalk" app has lots of problems with inserting pictures.

I see many weeks ahead refinishing the camper interior and installing it into the van, folks, so a road trip is not happening anytime soon. As it sits, the only thing inside that van is the drivers seat, and it badly needs recovering, along with the passenger side seat as well. I will probably snag some cheap-o covers off the net for now, and when I do get to take that road trip, swing through New Mexico and Texas looking for just the right Southwestern themed cloth. And by then maybe a nice set of adjustable Ricaros will turn up...

Is it Friday yet?:confused2:

While it may be aways out of your planned trip. My wife picked some very nice southwestern material in Old Town McAllen, TX. Including the lace she used for the window treatments. Prices were very good.

Deciphering code early in the morning is aways a challenge.

Let's see
1. The Avon lady from the Amish community came by window number 3 in the bedroom and the perfume she was wearing was enough to wake you up.
2. A female skunk came by the bedroom window at about 3A.M. and the smell woke you up.

Am I close on one of them at least?

I think it's actually between the two of those possibilities, but it could be an Amish Avon lady with a pet skunk.... I was wondering if Thomas has to walk to work now... Slow STROLL to work?:D

Drew, in the 70's they did make a HarleyDavidson golf cart.
1977 Harley Davidson Golf Cart - YouTube

RNG do you build a Vanagon golf cart with a harley motor?

They certainly did, I owned one, slightly older than the one you pictured. Mine had handle bars that my early teen son replaced with a Plymouth steering wheel. He and my daughter and every kid in the neighborhood had stories about that unit.
The handle bars were more of a triangular device as I recall.

Morning all!

I'm glad the sun came out again yesterday as it seemed like it had been gone since I left lovely Kona Hawaii... Good riddance to Florence, luckily I had nothing except rain...

Grapple seems to be fixed!!! Long story so go see my other thread for that. but found a great mobile service guy (Mobile Repair Service out of Oilville, VA 804-955-8158, Justin - I HIGHLY Recommend him) and now it is working.

Gotta go drive up North to the office now for meetings and a mandatory happy hour...

Be well all,
David

Good morning to all! Cool and damp this morning, down to 45°. I was awakened last night around 11pm by this loud metallic rattle......realized it was a very heavy downpour hitting the metal roof on the back porch. Rolled over and went back to sleep.

Speaking of sleep.... The last two nights have been the best sleep in over 6 months. The knee is still swollen again, but actually pain free...not even the slightest discomfort. The cortisone must be working. The massive swelling is worrisome.

I thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers

Kyle, I have 3 children, all now adults, all totally different when it comes to speaking. The oldest, our daughter, is a magnet to all people, and she is very open to talk. She is a Nurse Practitioner. Number 2, our engineer son...once you can get him started...good luck finding the OFF switch, but the conversation must be of a technical nature, otherwise very quiet. Number 3 has the greatest ability to converse with anyone and will often start the conversation. He has his degree in psychology, but works in IT for a bank.

No work outside today, still intermittent light rain. Going to do some errands and putter around the house and pester the wifey:D

Prayers out for everyone this morning, have a great day.

Just put a pair of horns off a locomotive on your golf cart, Don. You can get away with a tiny 12 volt compressor to run it, but you蛟、l need a BIG air tank! That is guaranteed to get EVERYONEs attention!

Reminds me of my idiotic teen years. There was a vacuum, rather than air pressure, horn that was just about as loud as a train horn, and I put one on my 1956 Mercury convertible.

71°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 94° today.

I only have stepsons, but they are definitely more outgoing than me, especially the oldest, who's never met a stranger. Wife says he's always been like that. Even as a little one sitting in the shopping cart at the grocery store, he'd flirt with every woman who got near him. Most people are more outgoing than me. I've always been something of an introvert (back when it was just called shy). If I hadn't become a working musician, I might never have met anyone, as everyone wants to talk with the guys in the band. In fact, with the sole exception of The Wife, everyone I've ever dated initiated the contact with me.

Every one is so polite around here I wouldn't get to use an air horn. We have a emergency siren on top of there hill in the neighborhood and it is tested the first Saturday of the month at 11:00 A.M. This is the first place I have ever lived that had a audible alert. Does anyone else have an emergency alert siren they can hear at their house? We are about 30 minutes from Jarrell Texas where they had that terrible tornado in 1997 - 260 mph winds 27 people died. I'll have to inquire if that is when we got the alert sirens.

We can hear the sirens from Trenton at our place, but only if we're outside. As I have always understood those warnings, that was the intended purpose; to warn people who are outside of potentially dangerous weather.

Edit: we're about 4 miles north of town.

72°F and .08 inches rain. A bit drizzly this morning.

No firm plan for day yet.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

We have a warning siren about 1/3 mile from our home. Does a test run every Saturday a 1 pm. Shortly after that my whole house generator does it's weekly 20 minute run.

We have the warning sirens here, but I'm not sure if or when they are tested, and while one is within a mile of my house, I likely wouldn't hear it if I was inside.

And I guess I'd have to say that I've always been pretty outgoing. I don't think I ever got a report card in grade school without a comment "talks too much" penciled in. And when I'd been a police officer for about 3 years, one day my lieutenant told me, "When you come in tomorrow, report first to the assistant chief in the chief's office." So of course I did, and the assistant chief told me, "We're going to try something new. We've never done any recruiting, except a short ad in the newspaper, so we've decided to try some active recruiting and want someone who likes the job, looks sharp in uniform, and likes talking to people." So I became the police department's first recruiter. I was told I was being transferred to the Personnel Division and to report to the captain in that division, so the next morning, I went to see that captain and asked, "What am I supposed to do?" and he said, "That's for you to figure out, go find us some police applicants." So I did.

We have Tsunami / CD sirens down the hill from us. Tested every month, but unless the wind is right usually don’t hear them. At 1100ft elevation, figure we’d likely see the tsunami before it arrived.

Well, got stir crazy due to rainy weather, so after pestering the wifey for a while, got into a little project. We had some left over tile from a bathroom remodel about a year ago, so we decided to take out an old Formica countertop in the laundry room and tile the area. I'll take some pics after I get the sink back in tomorrow. Think it will turn out ok.....especially for free:dance1:

Very nice, Ted. Extra special in that all that's involved is a bit of tinkering and locating those left over materials. It'll be a nice bump in sweat equity for your home as well!

94 today. 74 for the low. Rain chances start tomorrow and continue till Wednesday.

Rng congratulations on the van. To a speedy finish. Then enjoy.

Glad no one received any major damage from Florence.

Currently sitting in doctors office for my 20 minute wait after allergy shots. Then headed out to a buddies house to set a no-till drill for him. Then take boys horse riding.

Spent the morning putting a bearing back in a feedline. Birds are over half grown.

Have 10 of the expected 13 calves on the ground. Hopefully the rest finish soon. Although they have till November. Started calving 9/8. 10 calves in 11 days is a nice stress reliever.

Closest storm siren is over 5 miles away. Sometimes I can hear it when it comes around if the wind is correct. Tested every Friday at noon.
