Good morning!!!!

It was 50* for the low this morning, yesterday was in the low 80's and overcast most of the day. We did get a light shower for about 15 minutes. Just enough to settle the dust on the roads. It looks like a 40% chance of showers today with the high in the 80's and some wind.

Toppop... Hope you have a great birthday.

Going into town this morning to get a few things done. Not much else planned for the day.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low of 54 this morning, going up to 90. No rain again last night, storm started forming just to the north of us, made some noise overhead, then dumped all the rain to the south. Same scenario happened for the past few days. This morning, the weather guesser on the morning news finally admitted to how they are predicting the storms / rain here:

HE HELD UP A DART BOARD WITH A STATE MAP TAPED TO IT! .... Called it "dart board predictions":Do :laughing:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDY!

Going outside to get some stuff done before it gets too hot. I while back, I had posted that I really had a desire to "cut green grass".... After hearing how you guys have to watch for it to dry, drop what your doing, hurry and try to cut..... I'm now having second thoughts...

Have a great day all, morning prayers are sent.

62°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 91° today. Summer warmth is returning to the STL area, with low to mid 90s through the weekend.

Happy Birthday, Randy!

Congrats on the Vanagon progress, RNG. Does this have you starting to think about where you'll drive it first?

LS, one of the things that always sticks out in my memories of our trip in 2011 to the Grand Canyon was driving around in Flagstaff and noting that there were no grass lawns, only desert landscaping. Honestly, I think I would probably miss cutting grass if it wasn't there. Yeah, it's sometimes inconvenient, but there is a therapeutic value to it that I've always enjoyed.

Wife got much of the garage cleaned out yesterday. Still a lot to do, but it's much more organized. We're getting there.

We found the same thing in Sun City, AZ, many years ago; yards that used different colors of gravel instead of grass. But, unlike you, I don't think I would miss cutting the grass.

I've had several years to think about that, PJ. A friend of mine down in San Diego has a motorcycle transmission he's been trying to sell, and with my new tools it would make a great piece to learn further. Neither of us wants to shell out $60 for shipping, though, so might as well kill two birds with one stone and get some break in miles on the van in the process. I do want to install some sound deadening material and flooring in the van first, and I've already been warned that the mechanic wants to drive it a couple of weeks himself before he turns it over. He's already complaining that the exhaust header is hitting the engine mount he butchered, and I'm telling him I'll take care of it when he hands the thing over.

All of this is predicated on passing the smog test, something he has trivialized up to now, but in my mind the process is unpredictable enough that it could pass the emissions part but fail some bureaucratic requirement and make all the engine building efforts to date count for nothing. Hope I'm just worrying about nothing, but I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

One of the few benefits to the dry summers out here is that the grass will dry out and quit growing if not watered. Having grown up in the Midwest, I'd been pushing a lawnmower since I was old enough to reach the handle. And learned to hate every minute. Hot, sweaty work, and the grass cuttings made my allergies go absolutely nuts. Now I cut once, maybe twice in the Spring, and I wear a pollen mask that almost, but not quite, takes care of the allergy problems. To each their own, I suppose, but I'd rather get my therapy behind a pair of handlebars on a twisty canyon road...:)

Well, yeah! But that's a whole different level of therapy.

But, there's someone there every week cutting the grass.
