Wonder what Ellen has in store for Randy’s birthday today?

I was thinking the same thing.

Toppop, we all hope you have a TOP birthday.
You've been through a lot and now you can celebrate going
forward to new adventures. And a new tractor I think...????
oh that's it....Ellen will have something shiny in the driveway.
Corvette or Kubota. Either one. Life is good.

Of course nothing beats a big hug for the self admitted cute birthday boy.
This is the year Randy should drive Route 66 in a '66 something convertible.
Now that would be fun.

Saw a 56 Chevy yesterday beautiful car with LS 4 motor solid black cream interior rolled pleated trunk done like interior. I just love the old restored cars American muscle at its best

71 outside this AM, light rain earlier, more down pours this afternoon are expected. Heading to lower 80's. Really need a break in the weather.
Yesterday was interesting with all the water rescues. I think the local sheriff alerted over 20 roads closed in the county due to water. Made for some long trips home for a lot of people.
Managed to cut a patch of grass in the back late yesterday. I will not do that again due to the mosquitos. Need serious bug spray in the evening hours, but it was the only time it was "dry". Here it is August and I have drained my pool at least five or six times this summer. Normally I await the rains to have it at a good level. Not this year. And back to the grass..... having a hard time keeping up. I bagged an area around the pool because it was so high, that took 4 times as long as usual. I forgot how much green grass weighs as I hauled it to the compost pile. Yeah, almost done with this weather.

Prayers for all, good wishes for a safe and productive day.

Happy B-Day to Top..

Hope all are on the mends!

So far I got a big kiss and a 100’ expandable garden hose, more after breakfast I hear.

71 going to 86, and storms this afternoon.

We lucked out and got only a sprinkle yesterday so roasted coffee while waiting for the grass to mostly dry, then sneaked in a mow before the storms could catch me.

Randy, Happy Birthday! We know you are really only 39. Enjoy!

Good morning! Daisy says it 63˚ in Sun City, I did not believer her till I walked outside. It is too cold to bike, so I guess she is right. No wind, heading to 98˚ this afternoon.

Mostly, I do not have a heart monitor. I haven't really used one since I stopped running but I may need one for biking. Do you have one you use? Biking does not make my knee hurt and my HR is getting up there.

Happy Birthday Randy, hope 66 will be a great year for you.
Randy I was wondering about that expandable hose if you only need 25' do you still have to expand it to 100'?

The month long beginners spinning class is over and I enjoyed the twice a week group workouts.
I signed up for 30 group work out sessions. they are $3 each and includes about 10 different physical classes by an instructor. Boot Camp, core strengthening, spinning, . . .etc. These are maintenance classes not progressive classes so you can jump from class to class weekly and not fall behind. I plan on doing two a week.

There are many miles of hiking trails here in the neighborhood, I need to find out which club takes on the responsibility of trail maintenance, I kept all my hand tools (and snake boots) for that.

...and a new job for Whipper - trail security/snake duty.

Poured second cup of coffee. 58ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 84ー with possibility of thunderstorms in afternoon. Another .25" of rain yesterday evening. Cannot find a single brown spot in lawn. Grass will grow fast now. Need to make a dolly for tractor 3ph weight box. Since I got a flail mower, weight box is always in the way. Measuring and coming up with a design should keep me from doing heavy work with my arm. It is getting better after taking it easy for 3 day. Well at least the pain is a little less.

Trying to keep from doing heavy work yesterday. I decided to go to Xfinity/Comcast store and transfer our 2 phones over from AT&T. They have bring your own phone and get a $150 rebate. Got wife's phone moved over. But my iPhone is a AT&T GSM 7 plus that cannot be used on Xfinity Mobile. New iPhone 8 plus is on order. $300 rebate on that. Decided that the iPhone SE is way to small to see and use. Tried to trade it in for a iPhone 7 plus. But the sale is only for a 256 gb model that they did not have in stock. Can only be purchased in store to get a $300 rebate. Another trip back to Xfinity store Saturday. Getting older must be helping. My blood pressure used to sky rocket after these types of encounters. Plus the final rebates and buy backs total $1200. More than pays for the new iPhone 8 plus and buy out of the AT&T plan. New plan will be $40 per month. Including paying for a new iPhone 7 plus and taxes. I still wonder how they can offer these deals and stay in business. Same plan at AT&T was costing me $148 without paying for a phone. I am still a little paranoid after my dealing with AT&T over the years. It was always a guessing game what you were going to really pay until you got the first bill.

Don, 63ー is too cold for bike riding? :confused3:

Payers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Yes after riding in 90˚ temps. Going fast creates a mighty cold wind chill factor, about 40˚.:D

Wngsprd, they have special classes for Whipper. They get dogs to detect rattlers and avoid them instead of fighting them and getting bit. Vet bill out here for a rattle snake bite is about $3,000. Whipper could take a copperhead bite but I don't know about a rattle snake bite.

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 5:00AM. Partly Cloudy. High 94F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

If 68F is too cold, Don, you're not working hard enough! But I know how it feels in cooler weather, and use lycra tights over my shorts to keep my knees warm. Once it gets into the 50s, I have a couple of pairs that are fleece with wind blocking nylon on the front surfaces. Below 50 I stay home and wait for warmer weather. Again, Performance is a good place to shop, though I try to keep an eye on local bike shops in spring and fall for sales of clothing not appropriate for the coming season.

For the first time in quite a while, I have the house opened up for some fresh, cool air this morning. No smoke odor in the air, but I'm sure it's still hazy as the two fires in the Mendocino Complex to the southeast continue to grow.

Got the transmission and clutch linkage installed in the BMW yesterday, and found that the swing arm needs new bearings. I'll be in town for groceries later today, and will swing by my friend's shop for the parts.

Are you guys sitting down? Yesterday the mechanic sent me a really crumby video of the engine running in the Vanagon. Sounded like a Diesel engine, which he attributes to the new lifter hardware not being broken in yet. I'll swing by there today for a look see as well. He says he has an appointment for a smog check tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed it passes.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's coming'!

77F here already and really sticky! Nasty line of t’storms last night that had both dogs snuggling on the bed with us. 1.5” more rain that we really don’t need ...

If 68F is too cold, Don, you're not working hard enough!

68 is fine, but it's 63 with wind speed of 29 (down hill) = 59˚ wind chill factor.

Hope your vanagon passes or you might have to sell it to another state.

67 degrees going for 97 today. Maybe I'm different, but for me, if I'm going to be out in the sun, 50 degrees is ideal; loved playing golf when it was 50 degrees, although anywhere in the 50s wasn't bad. But if I'm going to be in the shade, I prefer 60 degrees, and of course anywhere in the 60s is OK. I'd love a climate where it never gets below 40 or above 70.

Ordered a whole new flow center for my geo unit. Paid for 2 day shipping. Local distributor, where i bought current one, does not list a 1 pump unit so i ordered online.

Happy Birthday Randy. I wish you many more trips around the sun. I hope that all your birthday expectations are met; or even better- exceeded.

A foggy 70コF start to the morning. Another hazy, hot, and humid day with possible strong T-storms later as the atmosphere further destabilizes. The soil is as saturated as it was in early Spring.

Yesterday's rain tested the roof and cellar foundation leak repairs. The roofs passed. The cellar did not (yet). It was down pouring hard enough on out return trip from VT to cause the anti-collision gizmos on Wifey's Forester to deactivate frequently.

Ted- I hope you find that "balance" between exertion/rest for your MCL.

I hope that everyone on the mend is still mending and those healthy stay healthy.

Today I will do the annual wash and clean the Tundra for our vacation to the Adirondacks next week. The dog cab is really nasty looking. It will take some time to remove all the hair and caked on St. B. drool and goobers. Hopefully nothing took up residence in the kayaks.

My + wishes, thoughts, and prayers.
