This doesn't sound quite right. Water runoff and drainage are big deals with the government, as they own all of the water itself. Did your neighbor consult with a government agency, or just do this willy nilly ?
Willy nilly. Did not pull permits from what I heard when I inquired. I thought it would be a big deal with my county. They did not seem to think so. They did not bother to come out and even look at my property.

Riptides how about 4 in slotted drain tile to move the water to another area? Ie drainage ditch and perhaps county would not know

It looks like we are topping out at 109˚ today. Biking was the 45 minute spinning class in AC. The garage is officially unpacked and the "Drop Zone" has been ordered. It will consist of a tall cabinet on one end for vacuum cleaner and brooms, a countertop on the other for cell phones and keys and a 38" bench in the middle for putting on and taking off shoes. Storage above and below counter and bench.

I'll take Whipper for a walk when the sun sets if the road is not too hot and give her a shower before and after the walk. She is chilling in the house now.

Sounds like a nice drop zone.

You’re doing pretty good cityfying whipper. Shower before and after walk. My dogs hate baths. And one is climate controlled.

That is surprising. If this runoff keeps up, you'll have a wetland in a few years, not a hay field.

Yep, yep, YEP!

Does he listen to the Grateful Dead all the time and spend half his life stoned? The mechanic doesn't do either, but all the helpers he's had up 'till now do/did. Even if the kid is straight, his work habits would align perfectly with the owner's, except maybe the 50% breaking part. This mechanic would actually have to DO something before he could break anything.:pullinghair:

Seriously, though, maybe it's time to start going over help wanted ads with him. It would give him a good idea of what jobs are available, and he's young enough to start school/training to get one. It would help if he was motivated to get a job, hopefully one he thinks he'd like and enjoy doing. That's a tall order these days though, what with limited blue collar jobs and lots of green card workers willing to work for almost nothing. But that's why he needs to go to college or learn a trade, so he's not stuck at the bottom of the jobs ladder doing something that's going nowhere. Unsolicited advice, but maybe worth :2cents:

All great advice, RNG, and all advice we've been trying to get him to listen to for a couple of years now. He's just not interested in listening to anyone outside his own ears, even though the voice inside keeps steering him wrong. Send me your mechanic's address, and I'll ship him out there forthwith.

Contrary to other responses, the “Government” does not “own” rainfall runoff water or even “control” it. The WOTUS Rule is still on hold and will most likely be scrapped.

Here’s some general info that may assist you. You’ll still have to check specifics in Virginia.

Good evening all. 80F this morning, mostly clear, calm wind. Wind was moderate, sky clouded up for "cold" front and high temp was only 97F today :). Bike ride this morning, then 45 min. of mowing (hardly anything is growing in spite of irrigation, then trip to town for haircut wife's eye glasses repair, register new boat (over 1 hour) and admin errands. no nap  Dog is complaining about food bowel contents and neglect
Prayers for all.

Correct, Maryland once had a rain tax for the counties surrounding and feeding the Bay, it was modified in 2015.

We live in a place where the weather often changes, but the lows and highs are not so extreme. We're thinking this is a long hot summer - a whole month with highs of a whopping 27C/80F :)

12" of snow is a rarity here (never heard of people owning snowblowers until I came on TBN) and I've never seen a tornado, or more than 2" of rain in a day. Would that be ok for you ? Could be quite a journey for you to get to work though. :D

Yeah, the commute would be a killer....but, I could become the local community medic there in the town....trade for goods / services :D

Even after sunset I was burning my feet on the street and the air was like sticking your head in the oven, so Whipper got to walk herself in the backyard. Going to try a morning walk around the block. Might get a shower at 3am so hopefully it might cool off a bit.
