Good morning all, 67 heading to 78 with a 80% chance of heavy rain. Nothing planed today, will take it as it comes. We had half a dozen hummers last year, none this year. Wife got the feeder up early too.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

Massive Thunder woke me up about 5am. It's pouring now...

Our repairs to the dam thus far seem to be mostly holding water.

Work + Social calendar and too many things busted at same time has kept me fixing the grapple issue. But got mower deck welded, F250 battery charged and brakes OK, SSQA fixed.

Funny, I was just thinking about posting about Hummingbirds, or as we call the micro-mini Goombahs. They look so cute but they are vicious and territorial keeping other away from the feeders. they kinda ignore us, but sometimes during morning coffee I fear impalement during the worst of their aerial dogfights over the feeder.... And I come here on TBN and y'all are already deep into the same topic, so I won't go there. I agree with RNG and much of what else I've read this morning.

Dear God I hope the rain stays every other day or less so the basement stays dry... Please...

God tons of work this week, plus weather, I wonder when I'll be able to tractor...

Be well all,
David

Drinking first cup of coffee. 59° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 80° with mostly cloudy skies. May cut lawn today. Need to do pond maintenance. Got rained out yesterday. Lots of tall weeds growing in the middle of brown spots. PT in afternoon.

We get one Humming Bird each year. Have put out feeders with no increase of numbers.

Not sure if nation wide route driver told me this,Mrs. said she will be calling.
Good plan. May be an employee going postal.

Don, my mother used Life Alert. But if your mother is away from base unit it does not work. Today they have them that use Cellular. It would be my choice if spending time away from the home base unit.
My bike computer does read accurate at the 1 mile sections.

Ed, I was thinking they may offer a deal that you cannot refuse on the lathe they have in stock.

Randy and Thomas ??

Good Morning All.

Raining again. T-Storms just passed through about an hour ago. Last night on the way home from ice cream, got stuck in another downpour. Driveway seems to be OK, but the culvert just cannot handle the water load that is now coming its way. Fields are soggy and standing water in places.

It's 73 outside right now, raining and heading up to lower 80's. T-Storms are the norm for today and the next couple of days. No outside work, so I guess it is paper work and house cleaning. Totally boring.

Have a great day all, be safe!

NOT a fair contest!

Randy wears high heels everyday.

he had some delicious green pumps on when I saw him....:D

well doesn't look like the lawn will get mowed today. Flash Flood warning, possible very heavy rain but it's spotty, so far out by coast, tonight supposed
to be very wet here.

finished coffee, will do my Monday morning veggie boxing, not all that much this week for food pantry, tomatoes just sort of stopped.
Everything has been watered and fertilized, not much I can do about it.
Peppers growing like mad, as are second planting of cukes, and the pumpkins are remarkable in how fast those big leaves grow.
Hope to start picking melons this coming week. The Alibaba melon from Iraq got bit on one end, it's a race whether it will ripen or rot.

Good morning! HOTTEST DAY of the summer predicted today - up to 107˚.

Ron, I need to find out how far away from the land line base station a person can get and LifeLine will still be effective. She just needs it for her house and yard, except if she falls at the mailbox. I need to check if the cell phone needs to be a smart phone.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

I had Thomas vs. Randy "visuals" last night  Some men have the legs for wearing pumps. There is a local here who wears his dresses and pumps to the Transfer Station; he doesn't have the legs:eek:, but his girlfriend does

RNG- Thanks for the hummingbird feeder information. We have been using a boiled 1:4 sugar:water mixture w/o red dye for years.

Billy- Thanks for sharing about the hummer feeders with slits. Thinking about it one of our feeders has the slits and it never gets hornets; only ants.

David- It's amazing that I have never been "winged" during those hummer fights; even the little ones are fighting.

Mike- Do you have any options to deal with the new water drainage from your neighbor's property?

A foggy/misty 60コF start to the morning and the "perimeter" check with Brogen. It was not raining then. It is raining now. I see lot's of rain, rain showers, torrential downbursts, and possible Tstorms most of the week. Like previously posted we need the rain around here.

Wifey made her first batch of pesto with our own garden's basil last night. We have tomatoes, but they are far from ripe at this point.

Another cup of coffee and it will be time to look at that cellar leak.

I hope that everyone had a decent Monday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

They’ll do that here, too. I’ve even had them come into the garage while I’m working, buzz around a lap, then hover near me as if to say ”Hey, we’re hungry! Get out there and fill up our feeders!”:laughing:

I was wrong. My mother had Philips Life Line. Here is a list of some of the different systems.

Thomas, You’ll have to re-read yesterday’s posts about the Post Office. I think you may have been called out?

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

I used to boil the water before adding sugar as well, thinking the nectar would spoil if I didn’t. I stopped that last year because the birds were going through nectar so quickly I was spending too much time waiting for four gallons of water to boil and cool. So far, aside from an occaissional mold outbreak, I haven’t seen any problems with the nectar, but I do have half a shelf in the fridge full of milk bottles after making up a batch. The yellow jackets must be dumb around here. They buzz around and once in a while land on the feeder base, but don’t seem to be able to get through the holes in the little yellow flowers. The hummers don’t like yellow jackets, and will get out of their way if both are at the feeders. The birds are so small, a sting could well be fatal.

Glad to hear your old bike is up and running again. Wng. I’ve seen some really nasty bicycle accidents involving helicopter life flights, and hope you treat yourself to new tires and tubes before you get out on the highway for real. A good helmet is a must, too, though they won’t do much for a face plant.

Good luck with your lathe phone call, Ed. If you end up with a refund, any idea what you’ll get instead? Your money will go farther with a used lathe, and it will likely come with tooling for an additional savings. But availability in your area might not be so good, and shipping something that heavy isn’t cheap. If buying used, make sure you get to see it run, go through the gears, forward and back, and verify that all the power feeds work as well. If you have a dial indicator, set it up and see how true the headstock is running. If it comes with a three jaw chuck, you shouldn’t see much more than 0.002” runout on it. New bearings are horribly expensive...

Hope everyone’s week gets off to a great start!

Mike- Do you have any options to deal with the new water drainage from your neighbor's property?
....

Unfortunately no. When he was doing his regrading, I inquired as to what he was doing and relationships got worse from there.

It's the old property/water drainage issues made of nightmares.

I ended up inquiring with the county, which ended up basically not doing anything. Except telling me that I could not reroute the new water flow accordingly. Mind you, there was no water "flow" to begin with.

What I plan on doing now is gauge this new water flow and ditching a wider track for a few thousand feet, since it runs through my hay fields.

Kind of cool this morning 46*, we got a couple of showers yesterday afternoon about 3/10 of inch. Today is going to be partly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers and the high in the mid 80's.

Not sure what kind of hummingbirds we have here. One of them shows up in the spring and the other one shows up about this time of year. The ones that shows up late are more aggressive ones. I know that there are over 300 different species of hummingbirds.

We are making a trip to town this morning, I'll see if I can find some bigger feeders why we are there.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.

Although expensive how about culverts to move the water. When I moved where we are now I put in over 350 foot of 15 to 18 in culvert no more water problems
