Although expensive how about culverts to move the water. When I moved where we are now I put in over 350 foot of 15 to 18 in culvert no more water problems

It still ends up in my pasture somewhere.

And the county said I cannot move it to the drainage ditch on the road.

The water after regrading was between his property and his next door neighbor. His regrading on his property led to water retention on his property lines to his neighbor. He then dug a 24 inch culvert out from his neighbors property line to his pond. His pond now cannot handle the water, so now it dumps and flows on my property.

Not sure i understand, So the neighbor diverts water to another neighbor, who has culverts to route it back to neighbors pond, then it goes to your property?

My next door neighbor with a pond decided to regrade his property.

In so doing, he created a serious water retention issue between himself and his neighbor.

To fix that issue, he dug culverts in to move that water to his pond.

His pond now collects that water issue he created, and now overflows on my property when it rains. The overflow is bad enough that I complained to him and the county as now I have moving water through my hay fields.

No hummingbirds here ☹️
But we do have about 20 doves,
Half dozen Myna birds,
A pair or so of yellow bill cardinals, we used to call them Brazilians.
A pair of regular cardinals,
A pair of Saffron finches
All show up for breakfast of wild birdseed thrown on the concrete.
All get along, except a couple of the doves are bullies.
All have brought young to feed.
Simba, the cat, will often lay within sight, his tail waving excitedly. He did get a dove one day and was severely chastised.
They will eat even if the dogs are there.
Hard to get a good group pic as the doves are very skittish and fly away with any movement even in the house.
The little ones are nearly fearless, the yellow bills often coming inside the screened area and have even had to be rescued inside the house.

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 85° today. No rain in the forecast until the weekend here.

Spent most of yesterday knocking items off the honey-do list. Wifey was happy about that, as she spent most of the day at her quilting machine. Many of the things on my list were cleaning up messes or problems created by the boy (like repairing the broken electric chainsaw, cleaning up messes left in the barn and the garden area, etc.). Going to have a sitdown with him this week about what he's planning for his future, as he seems intent on continuing along his recent path of poor decisions under the assumption someone will come along behind him and "fix" everything.

We have three hummingbird feeders in the back by the sunroom, and one in front by the porch. Those birds can get quite bossy when the feeders go dry.

Thomas, You’ll have to re-read yesterday’s posts about the Post Office. I think you may have been called out?

Sounds like the boy would be a good match for my VW mechanic. He's now lost or fired all of his help, and the shop is still a wreck. He'd fit right in!

No rain here to speak of yet. Flash flood watch until 2;00 am Wed.

Ron, RNG, spent some time praying about the lathe this morning and am going to just sit tight about it for a bit longer. Will see what happens. To get a lathe for that price I would have an old Craftsman/ Atlas with back gears and less ridged. Better lathes here sell for around $4000 to start.

Have a great day. Ed

Late to the party, and I respectfully decline to participate in the beauty contest. Since I once accepted monetary remuneration for modeling, I must disqualify myself.

Had a shower this morning that dropped .87 “ on us, 89 now, barely got below 80 last night. A couple more days of this coming.

Potomac river is above flood stage. Supposed to go at least 10 ft over, flood the c&o and maybe reach the RR tracks. Numerous roads flooded. Keep getting rains on and off.

Sitting in tire shop getting alignment on the new pilot. At 150k miles it is hardly new.

Not for long. He'd sleep in and show up late, regardless of start time, and eventually stop showing up at all. He'd break about 50% of everything he touched, and leave the tools and parts in complete disarray. And, he'd never actually finish anything.

Actually, now that I think of it, having seen your video of that shop, ... he might fit right in.

This doesn't sound quite right. Water runoff and drainage are big deals with the government, as they own all of the water itself. Did your neighbor consult with a government agency, or just do this willy nilly ?

Yep, yep, YEP!

Does he listen to the Grateful Dead all the time and spend half his life stoned? The mechanic doesn't do either, but all the helpers he's had up 'till now do/did. Even if the kid is straight, his work habits would align perfectly with the owner's, except maybe the 50% breaking part. This mechanic would actually have to DO something before he could break anything.:pullinghair:

Seriously, though, maybe it's time to start going over help wanted ads with him. It would give him a good idea of what jobs are available, and he's young enough to start school/training to get one. It would help if he was motivated to get a job, hopefully one he thinks he'd like and enjoy doing. That's a tall order these days though, what with limited blue collar jobs and lots of green card workers willing to work for almost nothing. But that's why he needs to go to college or learn a trade, so he's not stuck at the bottom of the jobs ladder doing something that's going nowhere. Unsolicited advice, but maybe worth :2cents:

It looks like we are topping out at 109˚ today. Biking was the 45 minute spinning class in AC. The garage is officially unpacked and the "Drop Zone" has been ordered. It will consist of a tall cabinet on one end for vacuum cleaner and brooms, a countertop on the other for cell phones and keys and a 38" bench in the middle for putting on and taking off shoes. Storage above and below counter and bench.

I'll take Whipper for a walk when the sun sets if the road is not too hot and give her a shower before and after the walk. She is chilling in the house now.
