Good evening all. 82F for the start, calm wind, clear sky. Wind was on the brisk side, sky remained clear and high temp was 112F (not heat index :( ). Plan a was to go to town and shop and run errands. Stepdaughter wanted to go to breakfast, but selected restaurant quite serving breakfast, so went back home. By the time she left nap time, after nap, too hot to go. Did sneak some work in on removing dead fern branches. Hope to do better tomorrow.
Happy birthday Kyle!!
Don that is 12# lighter than my 10-speed. Shifters on the down tube are less ergonomic, and I would guess you have better derailleurs than I have. Should get you going with a minimum of fuss.
Farmer, my bil has cpap, and it took him about a month to get used to exhaling against the machine.
prayers for all

Went for my first 3 miler in the hills early this morning. Next time I need to take water, the bottles I got at Academy were too large. It only reached 103 here but we had 8 hours of over 100˚. Got my cat eye cc7000 working and installed this evening but too late to take it on a road test. The circumference of my wheel is 81.75" or 210.18 cm so 210 was the program setting number. Only took me 2 days to figure that thing out. There were no youtubes back in the 80s for instructions and none now. Next week I'll work on shoes.

What set-up do you have for flat repair? I used to just carry an extra tube and some tire removing wedges and a small pump.

Good evening everyone! Low of 62, went up to 96. Still no more rain. The weather guessers keep pushing the next chances of rain out to next Tuesday and only 20% at best.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE!! Stay cool at camp.

Buppies, good luck with the surgery, additional prayers sent.

Drew, I always look at the bright side of things also...things happen for a reason...maybe you'll get a better helper. You mentioned 'no zoning' in your area. Do they have any building code enforcement?

Riptides, that is " normal" for a simple project to metamorphosis into a dramatically different final outcome. Look at the bright side... You won't have to go back and change things later:D

Don, I think you may have to get a local LE officer to radar check your speed....you don't want the residents to start complaining of any excessive speed in the neighborhood :shocked:

Well, had an interesting day at work yesterday. I was supposed to be attending a class for "incident command" as an officer for EMS. Turns out the training was specifically oriented to the officers of the first arriving engine companies on a structure fire.... Nothing to do with EMS. Myself and 2 other Captains left after the first segments. Told our commanders about it and they were all sorts of confused. Today and again tomorrow, I'm teaching an advanced medical class. Tomorrow the students will be practicing live IV sticks on each other....they will be bruised and battle worn by tomorrow night.

Go to the ortho doc on Monday...knee is still swelling every day, pain started up again today. I'll see what his prognosis is....

Prayers out for everyone, tomorrow is Friday....yeah!

Where do you get your mealworms?

Funny you should ask. I first tried Petco, and was informed there was a shortage. Then I went to a place called The Tacklebox, which turns out to be a combination bait shop and bar. Only one door, into the bar, and I had to ask if there was indeed a bait shop. I was pointed down a hallway full of jumbled up equipment of some sort, which lead to a larger room with a counter and a rather large woman that could have come right out of Pulp Fiction. I asked about mealworms, and she jestured toward a refrigerator, and said look in there if we have any. They did, I paid her price, and got the heck out of there.

Can’t wait ‘till I run out of mealworms and get to go back for more.

RNG, thanks for Labcorp warning..

My work makes us go thru health assesments, etc where we have to give our health data to a "wellness" company, so they can nag us to get checkups, etc. They "assure" us our data is safe with them. Yea, right....
This is our first yr of doing this at my present employer. They threatened to double our rates if we dont participate.

Similar thing here. They give us some paltry sum, like @200-$300 in a “health spending account” that goes against doctor bills, to complete a health survey that has questions that are very intrusive and invade areas that have nothing to do with health. And when I read the privacy statement, I learned that the company wouldn’t disclose the information unless the company was bought or otherwise went out of business. I appealed to the powers that be on the grounds that I wasn’t comfortable with their privacy policy and on those grounds would not complete the Internet based survey, whereupon some bright wick sent me a screen shot of the survey on paper and said I could fill it out that way. I didn’t and haven’t for the past two years. Especially in light of the security compromises I’ve already suffered at my employer’s and the government’s hands, what they’re willing to pay for my information doesn’t even begin to reflect the cost to repair the damage to my credit and reputation should the even more personal information on the survey be compromised. SCREW ‘EM!

That’s what I’ve always carried, too. But also a patch kit, and now a cell phone, you know, to call someone to come pick me up!

55 right now...high in the upper 80's today.
I'll be heading to CT for some "training" today...going to be a long day!

Like some of you others, we're required to get "wellness" reviews and "Counseling" if we smoke or are "Obese" (the wellness agency thinks we should be emaciated). Otherwise, there's a surcharge taken out of our pay.

they always call and setup an appointment and if there is a violation they help you resolve it. Only if you refuse to fix your violations are you fined.

So very sensible, I wish we could have the same approach.

Farming legislators here are either incompetent or weak. Their cry is often along the lines of "we didn't want to do that, but the EU made us do it". We may soon find out how much truth there is to that.

What high temperatures some are enduring. Only sorry I can't share our expected high of 21C/70F with you - or would that be too cold ? :)

No farming non-conformances for me ! :dance1:
The auditor was thorough, however the only mistakes found were those that had been made by the government's mapping people. It turned out she had visited this place over 20 years ago on a cattle inspection. By then the old farmer could only get around with a walking frame and the animals ran almost wild, which is what others told me too. She remembered in particular his sadness at not being able to pass on things such as where all the drains are. If only he had drawn me a little map ...

Kyle, how could I have forgotten your birthday ! Anyway, soon you will also be getting to that age when it's kinder to forget them :D

Good morning all, 63 now going to 82 with am fog and partly sunny. 30% chance of showers tonight and then higher chance through thursday. Mowed the "grass" yesterday. Front yard smelled like a dry hay field, the rain will help. LS, hope you get some soon.

Prayers for all in need. Ed
