I think if they tried that around here they would be told to do something about "sex and travel" :)

It's like an ISO9001 audit, except you have to work to a quality manual that has been compiled by people who have the ability to write prescriptive rules without clarity and who never have the misfortune to follow what they have written down. I will be getting a personal fine for every non-compliance found.

Yikes. Orwellian....
of course that's probably what every restaurant owner thinks when some overzealous inspector
goes into their walk in refrigerators and measures distances between food types.

The County in which I live does not even require emissions checks on vehicles. There is no zoning where I live.
No zoning. Can you imagine that?
I can, it's why I live next to an abandoned wreck of a farm.

One of my oldest and best friends was head of a major US city Health Dept.
They handled a comprehensive complaint list, property condition including height of hedges, plus doing all the normal disease work and public
inspections. People would call in and complain about their neighbors for absurd reasons, and my friend had to handle the worst of it, where he would often
tell the caller their call was silly or worse. He was a really good civil servant, a good manager and people person, and did his best to keep the voters happy.
But the stories he would tell about those Northern New Jersey residents. They are a different breed.

And now Eric who we all know maintains a proper farm will get put under the microscope. His farm orifices will be probed...sheep will be interviewed and questioned
on their care. Only one Bah? oh, that's bad....two Bah minimum you know. 100 pounds. Ka ching.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 83° with partly cloudy skies. Heading to east side today meet up with Aunt and Uncle for lunch and ice cream. Yesterday was not a good day at PT. Arm is not getting better. They are thinking I have a torn Bicep Tendon. Will be going back to doctor in next week or two for more testing to determine what is wrong and what can be done. With anticipation of there never being a fix. I have ordered a couple of HF Lynxx battery operated tools. The most pain I have is trying to start a engine with recoil start.

Don, like the mail box alert. Will have to give it a try. One of our local communities had a Alligator rescue yesterday. :D

Buppies more prayers headed your way.

Eric, hope the audit goes OK.

Good Morning All.

62 outside this AM. Nice and cool. Heading just a tad below 90 today. Looks like a good day to start mowing.

Rooting for you Buppies.

Neighbor has cut and baled about half my fields. He may be able to get a second cut the way the grasses are growing. Good for him.

Waiting on my metal roof to show up. About a week out. Looks like I maybe putting a floor in the back of the run in, and a secure space, which means windows and doors. As my daughter said, it is looking more like a house than a run-in. Oh well. it's only wood and time at this point. I have lots of wood in various piles from old fence lines and buildings that make for good flooring and walls for this project. Just takes time prepping and cutting the stuff. LOL.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good morning! A very hot week in the hundreds every day. The dentist fixed me up painlessly yesterday morning but I skipped the CW outdoor concert yesterday, 100˚, and instead just went spinning inside, 70˚.

Ron, Christy would call that a lizard and laugh.

Eric, thanks for the link on the bike frame. I knew it was fast but did not know it was a France 1980's pro bike. That just makes me feel faster.
Before the bike shop refurbished it, my wife said it was not even Goodwill worthy. This will impress her. Ha.

Drew put a border around each tree or get those expandable plastic guards. No one likes to hand pull weeds.

Good Morning!!!! 79F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High near 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Bureaucracies like that are why we celebrate Independence Day over here, Eric. Though that kind of crap is getting worse by the year with the availability of GPS monitoring and all sorts of things being hooked up to computers and the internet. The inspector the new insurance company sent wanted to take digital photos of every room inside the house, but I forbade it. I explained that there was no way to control where those photos would end up, and they would make an excellent shopping list in the wrong hands. Fortunately, he agreed, or I'd be looking for an insurance company again.

Speaking of Big Brother, Lab Corp, one of the largest medical testing labs in the US, was very likely hacked this week. Might want to start keeping an eye out for more conclusive findings if you've had your blood work or other testing done there.

Rub a dub dub, seems like all I do is scrub. Two days and all the thick grease and much of the corrosion is off the engine cases, but I still have to go over everything again with ScotchBrite pads and WD40 to leave it with a consistent texture and look. Temperatures here being what they've been, I'm only getting three or four hours a day at it, but that's more than enough for each sitting. All those years outside under a tarp next to the San Francisco Bay have left many pits that are too deep to remove, so I guess this isn't going to be a concourse level restoration!

Off to help a buddy get a bike he's working on running. Seems there's something of an electrical problem with the ignition, and he's not much on electricity...

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

It's fun interacting the the animals, isn't it, Buppies? The fence lizard I've been feeding got me for five mealworms yesterday, and instead of running away after taking each one from my hand, now just swallows them down and looks up at me for more. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to put him on a diet..

A few light clouds to start the morning and after that it should be another day of sunshine.

Little did I realise yesterday morning that I was in for a surprise. A lady called to say she was on her way to carry out a farm compliance check (no polite asking with these people, if it's not convenient - tough). Around 1% of farms get a visit each year, but as my last audit on sheep was only in November and found no faults, I thought I must be especially lucky to get another one so soon. This time it is everything, starting with a spot check on what is going on in every field. A Leica GPS locator was used to map every field corner, every track and every agricultural building. After a glance at their electronic map I was able to see what may have triggered my "luck" - they had obviously lost 2 entire fields from their system (the UK agricultural mapping department is notorious for loosing things). It took until 7:30 pm to finish surveying.

The lady herself is actually quite pleasant to talk to, but that hasn't saved me in the past from the next phase, which today will be on all my farming documentation. It's like an ISO9001 audit, except you have to work to a quality manual that has been compiled by people who have the ability to write prescriptive rules without clarity and who never have the misfortune to follow what they have written down. I must stop ranting and look on the bright side - Hope everyone else is in for a better day :)

Seems heavy handed British gov't to me Eric. Watching the modern 3 stooges (Gran Touring w/ Moe Clarkson et al) I see bits and pieces of your system as it pertains to automobiles. VAT taxes on parts, inspections coming and going. What if a person wanted to build a VW based sand buggy? Homologation or whatever they call it is tough and expensive. We have ad valorem property taxes here, and if you set up your land as agriculturally based, you pay the taxes on what their estimation of how much money they believe you can make off the agriculture, not the value of the land. Every now and then they do a cursory check to see if you are actually doing what you say you are doing. This results in paying about 10% of the taxes vs the land being commercially used, or turned into your own park, or not used for agriculture.

Another trip around the sun today. Enjoying it here at church camp with the youth. Will bake a cake when we get home Saturday...

I hope everyone has a blessed day.
