I got an amazon box Via USPS a couple months ago beat up like crazy. I thought it got thrown onto my porch. Reviewed my security camera, the mail lady got out, bent over, and laid it on the porch. Wasnt thrown by her.

Nice day today, lower humidity but still hit 90. Got big storm last night finally, needed the rain.

Rained heavily all around us, we got about .06. We need a lot more than that. Oh well, the grass isn’t growing much at least.
Got my 6 year old grandson today, we took the dog walking, then went to the zoo and playground, then had the preferred McDonalds lunch.
Prayers and good wishes.

Topps, which zoo did you take the grandson to? Did he have as much fun as you? :)

Farmer, glad the inspection went well. Now, when you sleep, you are supercharged too. What do you plan to do with all that extra oxygen?

RNG, keep us posted on the beemer project. how about a very fine glass bead finish on the cases?

I’d love to just throw the thing in the bead blaster and have at it, but I’ve been warned over and over that the beads will embed into the aluminum, then get loos inside and ruin the bearings in the engine. Even if that wasn’t the case, I’d still have to completely disassemble the short block to blast it to keep the beads out of the timing stuff and, well, everywhere else. I’ve tried to mask stuff with duct tape on other projects, but the beads ALWAYS find their way where they’re not wanted.

Not a good morning for me. Email from main landscaper help, my local fireman, quitting my job. I have been trying to get him to stop hitting my plants and trees with the weedeater, and to do a little hand weeding. He simply refuses to weed, and consequently gets too close and lots of my trees have whack marks. Apparently he didn't like me complaining, despite my constant praise of his other work. Very stubborn man, doesn't like being told he was screwing up. Easier to blame the wrong person.

So today I start the hunt for more help. Have several to call, not worried, just a hurdle I hadn't expected.

I told the guy it was like taking his new truck into the car wash. If it came back scratched every time, would he keep going back even though the truck was shiny? Is asking the car wash to stop scratching your truck unreasonable? Well all those little trees I have slaved over, watered constantly, etc, are my new trucks and I don't want them scratched.

Am interviewing a Hispanic guy on Saturday that speaks poor English, but will work happily for 15 bucks an hour. Plus I have to call another fireman who wanted my job anyway.

A few light clouds to start the morning and after that it should be another day of sunshine.

Little did I realise yesterday morning that I was in for a surprise. A lady called to say she was on her way to carry out a farm compliance check (no polite asking with these people, if it's not convenient - tough). Around 1% of farms get a visit each year, but as my last audit on sheep was only in November and found no faults, I thought I must be especially lucky to get another one so soon. This time it is everything, starting with a spot check on what is going on in every field. A Leica GPS locator was used to map every field corner, every track and every agricultural building. After a glance at their electronic map I was able to see what may have triggered my "luck" - they had obviously lost 2 entire fields from their system (the UK agricultural mapping department is notorious for loosing things). It took until 7:30 pm to finish surveying.

The lady herself is actually quite pleasant to talk to, but that hasn't saved me in the past from the next phase, which today will be on all my farming documentation. It's like an ISO9001 audit, except you have to work to a quality manual that has been compiled by people who have the ability to write prescriptive rules without clarity and who never have the misfortune to follow what they have written down. I will be getting a personal fine for every non-compliance found.

I must stop ranting and look on the bright side - Hope everyone else is in for a better day :)
