Don, as with most stuff, model and condition matter. Do you know what model the sickle bar is? If it is driven by a wooden bar, they are not worth a whole lot.

I'll check, my dad kept the manual. If you are interested in it better be ready to act quickly another guy will check it out Saturday.
We can start the bidding at $200, 201 might get it. . . . .
RNG don't let Ron or Ed play with your salt gun or they might be tempted to modify it with their mills, like this guy did:

Good Afternoon everyone!!!!!!!

Bruce- Happy Birthday!! I hope that your birthday expectations are met; or even better- exceeded:cool: I wish you many more.

Roy- Good luck with the audit. Like previously posted the auditors have to find something to flag. It believe it is their job description.

Eric- Thanks for sharing. Your flock seems very content; especially with you out in the hot sun.

David- Thanks for sharing. Your helicopter ride was worth the cost.

Maintaining tolerable indoor temperatures so far. The early AM temperatures in the low 50F's is a definite help. No word from the HVAC guy yet.

I am using black plastic this year for weed control in the garden with good results and so far no no plastic has blown away to become Halloween decorations in the surrounding treeline.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Monday. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

what is going on in Japan is pretty bad, their version of Katrina. 100 dead, 2 million people out of their homes,
a real island tragedy vs Hawaii's volcano which so far has mostly just wrecked property.
2 million displaced people is a lot of people. Wonder what damage has been done by all that water to the manufacturing
base. First the Tsunami, then the nuclear powerplant disaster, then sarin in the subways, now this.
that country has been through a lot. Prayers for their safety.

<snip>Had a very disgusting experience on Saturday morning. Wife and I cancelled our golfing plans to help her father with a rental property he has in our hometown. He had been renting it to another family member for many years, and about 8 months ago she stopped paying the rent. After repeated attempts to rectify the situation, she got angry and made some regrettable remarks to him. The city had her evicted three months ago over the condition of the house and the outside property, and condemned it. My Wife has been going with him (his hearing is terrible) to court several times over the past couple of weeks to get legal access to the house again. All of the legal stuff was resolved last week, so we went Saturday morning to change all the locks for him (he's in his mid-70s and starting to slow down). The Wife climbed a ladder to an open 2nd story window to go in and unlock the doors (he had given the tenants the last of his spares). She came running out the side door almost gagging. What we found inside was the most deplorable case of filth and hoarding I have ever seen, in pictures or otherwise, and the house just reeked of rotted food and animal litter. The lower level, a family room and utility room, were piled so high that some of the grid pieces and panels were pushed out of the drop ceiling. The stairs were literally covered in cat feces from bottom to top. All of the rooms upstairs were covered with stuff about 3 feet deep in most places, higher in others. There weren't even paths to get around from room to room. The kitchen had rotted food laying out all over the place. I changed the door knobs and deadbolt locks on the three outside doors, and got the heck out of there. Even having sprayed myself before going in, I still found dozens of fleas crawling around in my socks when I got outside. My Wife actually cried a bit afterwords. This was the house they were living in when she left at age 19, and she found it almost unrecognizable. Most of it was neglect, but some of it was obviously intentional damage. Two of the three door knobs had the keys broken off in the locks, and one of the deadbolts had been twisted 90ー beyond the stop point, which twisted the shaft so it wouldn't come out except by force. Sadly, this cleanup is going to cost him a lot of money.<snip>

Be careful using the "facilities". I had to evict some renters about 30 years ago and they stopped up ALL the plumbing (including toilets) with steel wool and poured something (probably boiling cooking oil) in all the sinks melting all the PVC plumbing.

Good evening everyone! The weather forecasters lied...said it was to be only 80 today, went up to 89 and baking sunshine! No rain or storms happened yesterday or today. Now dry and warming until Thursday, 60% chance of rain / monsoon pattern happening through the weekend...as always...we'll see. My grandson told us that rain is a myth:D

Got the fence posts and panels all in place, added another stringer run to reinforce the bottom of the pickets. Recut all the tops so they were even, then wifey scribed new dog-ear pattern and cut about half. I took over when she couldn't lift the jigsaw anymore. Turned out pretty good for repurposed fencing that was weathering for 12 years. Ripped down a couple of cedar 4x4's to 1 3/4" x 3 3/4 to make a gate frame later this week. The whole project was much more labor and time intensive than I thought it would be. I guess 270 ft of picket fence is pretty long.

Glad I started and completed it when I did, the new neighbors showed up on Saturday. They sold their farm in Minnesota, and are here permanently now.

Mostly- have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!

Billy- sorry to hear about all the losses in the garden, always frustrating to put all the work into something that fails and you can't prevent it. Our beans and zucchini have been hit with something and they are dying on a daily basis.

PJ- that is awful news that the house was in such deplorable condition. How anyone can live like that is indescribable. I hope that you are able to find an easy way to get it cleaned out.

Jay- glad to hear that you have been able to manage the 'manual climate control' situation. I hope that you will get back to an automated system in a short period of time.

Eric- I too had a visual illusion of rocks, then the faces came into focus....good luck finding a space there...

Everyone have a great start to the week...the weekend is only 4 more days away!

Prayers and thoughts out to everyone.

Forgot the pics of the fence. Also, when first setting up power cords out to the fence project, I walked past a small pine tree up close to the house... Out came a loud fluttering and some feathers...scared the bejeebies out of me....there was a very shallow ring neck dove nest holding 2 eggs.

PJS, I would be calling the police or sheriff about the home. Obviously they don't have any money, but IMO they should be punished.

Good evening all. 77F this morning, clear skies, calm wind. Wind increased to a moderate level, sky clouded up this afternoon, heard thunder but no rain, high temp 93F. No choir for the rest of the summer, started with kitchen cleanup, then mowed parts of the lawn that needed mowing, started leaf sucking out the flower beds. Got slowed down with bag failure on leaf sucker had to safety pin a temp repair :(. new bag on order
Thanks for the birthday wishes :drink:
David that was some helicopter trip
Prayers for all.

58 right now...bit cooler today with highs in the lower 80's.

Audit is going OK...no findings yet, but it's early.

Y'all have fun today!

After weeks of blue sky we have finally been sent some cloud today. It is only very light, a delicate modesty veil for an overly radiant sun, though still very welcome, even if it is only expected to last for one day.

LS, wish we had a forecast for some mythical rain. :)

PJ, what an aweful state for anyone to leave a house in, let alone a relation. No wonder at your wife being tearful at what happened to what was once her home. You've got to be full of admiration for her though, not many would climb a ladder and then press on through a house in that state.

RNG - doesn't California now have a ban on buying asalt weapon ? :D

60 high of 90 today the three Hs arrive tomorrow again. PJ that’s awful that one would be so destructive

Prayers for those in need

Good morning all, 61 going to 90 with patchy am fog. Got the car serviced and made a Costco run. Used to go there a lot more when it was just over the hill from the grocery store. They say my lathe will be shipped the first part of next week, they arrive at the company this week and after they go over them they ship them out. After hearing the nightmares of others I wondered about buying China made equipment but the mill was very good, found nothing wrong at all. Hope to get some shop time today, will see.

RNG, I know my wife would throw a fit it I started shooting salt around the house + I would have to leave the door open to get more game. :) I shot a rubber band pistol at a gun show a while back and it would hit where you aimed. Might get away with that. :)

PJ, Pray things work out for your father in law. Going to have to be expensive cleaning up that mess. Sounds like the relative needs more help than what they are getting, Jay might be able to say more than I.

LS fence looks good, often re-purposed things look re-purposed but you two did well.

Eric, ASALT wepon. :)

Have a great day. Prayers sent. Ed

Poured first cup of coffee. 62° with a few scattered clouds. Heading to 87° with partly cloudy skies. Wife's doctor appointment went well. Got report back from my test last week. It was positive. Changes are coming but not sure what. More visits are panned in next couple of weeks. Going to try and get all the scrap metal collected and into trailer today. If there is time left I will haul it to scrap yard.

RNG, tempted to order the Bug a Salt Lawn and Garden 2.0 for back porch. Will it put a hole in plastic siding?

Don, I had a 7' New Idea trailer sickle mower. With a wood pitman arm. Cut a lot of hay with it. Your mom should get good money for it. If it is in working condition.

PJ, sorry to hear about your FIL's house. Hope it can be cleaned out and repaired.

LS, nice job on fence.

Good Morning All.

61 going to 91 and sunny.

LS, great job on fence and cool that you found that dove nest.

When I watch a video like that salt-gun-with-an-attitude youtube, it amazes me that people come up with this stuff and have the time. (where can I get one :) ).
