Awake at 6am. No AC at the farm, but window fan kept me cool.
Yesterday was HS reunion day / homecoming. They have a parade to honor each 5 yrs group. I will be in next yr for my 40th. My brothers 35th, and Dad was in parade for his 75th yr, class of 1943. Only 2 people in parade from his class, and they were the last group.

My oldest brother couldn't come, but my other 2 brothers and 2 remaining sisters were here.

As soon as i got here, dad had me finish round baling, he was exhausted (94 yrs old). His mower broke, so only had 4 bales worth to do. His rake also broke, so baled some that wasnt even raked.

Heading home this morning. Takes 5 hrs to get here.

Happy Fathers day all.

Temp starting off at around 68. It is going to be a hot and muggy day.
I don't load until tomorrow morning at 6, there is rain forecast for tomorrow where I am delivering. This is a good thing.
Rain days pay me a guaranteed 8 hours. $240.oo plus $65.overnight is better than a kick in the butt.

There was a wreck on Hwy 11, big truck went off the road and rolled. By the time I got there the clean up crew was doing just that. No word on the company, but a buddy said it was a freight hauler.

My trainee is doing good. He used to pull wiggle wagons (A trains) for CP Express, so working with a B train isn't that big a transition.
The only thing I need to remember is to keep the compensating 5th wheel at the back of the lead trailer well greased, EVERY Sunday. There are only 10 fittings and they are right at the back of the frame, so it is easy. I have an electric (12 volt) grease gun and always carry a case of grease. I will grease the 5th wheel plates later today, after breakfast.

My wonky knee is slowly getting better. I went all day yesterday without the cane. I have figured out what caused it to begin with (other than the abuse it has gotten since 1958), lack of water. 3 pots of coffee/day do not equal 2 quarts of water.

Have a good day all and stay safe

Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers, Step Fathers and Grandfathers out there. Hope y’all have a special day today.

It was 74 degrees here this morning and, if the rains come, we may see our first day, to not get above 90 degrees, in about 2 months.

Our Grand Daughter and her “posse” are coming out to the Ranch next weekend, to celebrate her 16th Birthday. So, between rain storms, I’ve got to get everything ready this week. We usually celebrate her birthdays at our Richmond house but, she decided a couple of months ago that she wanted to do it here and bring her friends. I guess a house full of 15-16 year old girls should do a good job of interrupting our normal peace and quiet for three days.

Madison wants to teach her friends how to fish so, I’ve got to pressure wash the floating pier and eliminate a few wasps nests.

IMG_0931.JPG

I’m sure we’ll take a few excursions to show the girls all our mama does and their new babies.

IMG_0100.JPG

If we get enough rain to dismiss our current burn bans, we’ve got 2 dozen sky lanterns to write wishes on and fly.

IMG_1110.JPG

I’m sure that marshmallows will be toasted and s’mores created so, will get fire pit cleaned up and ready for that.

IMG_0594.JPG

If burn bans end we’ll have a pasture bonfire and roast some hot dogs one night.

Everyone please have an excellent day today!

Had to edit and add this.

It was 47* this morning. Yesterday wasn't to bad, still had some wind but did get a little thunderstorm in the evening, most of it missed us. It looks like we have a good chance of more thunderstorms for to day. The high will be in the upper 70' with the wind about 10 mph.

Don't really have any plans for today. Maybe I'll look at my work benches and see if I feel like cleaning them up.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday and Farther's Day.
CWB.

You better plan on cooking a lot. My daughters 13 year old friends act like they haven't eaten for weeks when they come over here. Hollow legs and starving.

Nice pics by the way.

And Happy Fathers Day to all.

Eric, it is the fine folks from the folds of Irish backstreets that I can't seem to understand a single word being said. Do you have trouble with their strongest of dialects? That was a funny video. Put some wood in the hole. The Aussie guys were funning with me a year or two ago with their slang about slashing.

80 up into low 90s today forecasters cannot make up their minds hotter and drier or only short lived heatwaves and wet. Because of ocean temperatures I’m betting towards the latter but West Coast and Texas to burn up

Happy Fathers Day! I slept in for first time in a long time

Prayers for those in need

"All Creatures Great And Small" was set in the Yorkshire Dales, and featured many residents speaking with that accent. It's good to know we have a translator here on the Good Morning!!!! thread!

I used to work with a Scotsman that I honestly could not understand. My leader, a extraordinary toolmaker from southern England, I thought could understand him. I was wrong! One day I asked him what 鉄cotty just said. He said I haven稚 the slightest idea, mate. Bloody savages!

It could be worse. This is one bay of the Vanagon mechanic's shop:

No matter how talented the mechanic is, he is handicapped by that mess. Really a horror story, and I am not a real neatnic.

Yep, they’re all dancers and gymnasts, eat like boys.

Eric’s Post reminded me of when I lived / worked in the UK back in the late 1970’s. I spent about a third of my time in London and rest in Aberdeen.

When I’d go to the pub, with a few Scots that worked for me, we’d have great conversations until they forgot and started lapsing into Gaelic slang. I’d just sit back and listen and shortly they’d realize what they were doing and we’d all have a big laugh. By the time I headed backwards to the US, after almost 4 years, I got an ear for it and understood quite a bit. Like the US, the UK has lots of different “accents”. It still all English though.

Yup.

RNG - How in H E double hockey sticks did you EVER pick someone with a shop with that organization to do something? I bet he spends half his time looking for a part he knows he has but just misplaced.

I see that you've ordered the XLT, SWB, and I've ordered the Titanium, LWB, so I don't know whether that makes a difference or not, but I've sent an inquiry to my dealer so I'll eventually find out, I guess.

That may make a difference, plus you want it NOW. I'm prepared to "limp along" without it for months.

When I bought my 2009 VW Jetta TDI I waited about 2 months longer for delivery than it would have taken to get a gasser. But the TDI is being bought back by VW due to "Dieselgate".

I just view it as serendipity that my wife had decided on a SWB Ford Transit Connect wagon when "Dieselgate" hit the fan. Then before my dawdling butt got it turned in Ford announces a diesel in her vehicle of choice.

So present plans are I'll turn in the Jetta we will only have my dually in Virginia until the Ford diesel Connect comes in.

That will mean I'll have 3 Ford diesels, and two Kubota diesels :)

Now if ONLY the SWB Transit Connect had been a dually :) :)

Happy Fathers Day

Likely spend a bit of time in my mess, but otherwise an easy day with a little socialization this afternoon.

Amazing job with the potatoes, Drew.
Prayers for all

Be safe
Have a great day

Read all of those books in high school, and really enjoyed the series as well. Ever read Watership Down?

I have vampire mushrooms in my hay bales. They grow beautiful four inch tall mushrooms at night,
then around 6am, before the sun gets too full, they all wither as in the picture.
I told someone about my mushrooms and went to show them and where did they go?

First okra is coming in, Alabama Red and Hill Country Red. Cabbage was nasty looking but hopefully edible.
Picked all the Texas Sweets this morning, about thirty pounds worth, lots of smalls. Plus another twenty pounds of red potatoes at 6:30am
after the third pass of the plow. There's more in there if I wanted to rake, but honestly, no.

Friend came over after church, I dug more potatoes for her out of raised garden, sent her home with red, white and blue potatoes; blackberries,
blueberries and onions.

I am so looking forward to a nap. Late afternoon showers expected. They should come since I watered the entire garden today.

No, I don't want it NOW; I want it YESTERDAY! No, seriously, my dealer said it'll probably be 4 months, and I don't need to be in a hurry. Of course, at my age, if I don't do it soon, I may not be around to do it. I most definitely want the long wheelbase version for the interior space. And I want the Titanium version because I like all the bells and whistles, although you could probably get most of them added to the XLT if you went that way and that would also be OK with me.
