Close but no cigar. No Koalas. They're over the ditch with them Aussies. In fact we have no poisonous spiders, scorpions, or carnivores either.

well, well, what do you have then? No cute llamas, no cuddly koalas, what you got? :D

it's really fascinating how island nations have unusual plants and animals. And you always wonder where they came from.

managed to work in the garden for a good bit before the rains came softly. Actually weeded for a while in the very gentle rain, I was soaked in sweat anyway and it felt good. Weeded onions till my hands didn't work, then pulled a Texas Sweet for my barber who I promised an onion, and will deliver that tomorrow along with some potatoes.

Cut some flowers from a foundation bush, it will be my Memorial Day bouquet in memory of those fallen.

hurt my back leaning over so much, those weeds will be my undoing...so I'm going to start the rest of the day with a dunk in the hot tub as a light drizzle comes down. 79 out, 103 in the bubbles. Lots of time I just sit in silence with the jets off and listen to the birds. Like Oosik, love listening to them. Lovely trills and melodies, repeated over and over.

Good morning to all!

Thank you to all the veterans who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom!

Low of 52 this morning, only up to 83 today, plenty of sun, actually way too much....will be getting up towards 90 by the end of the week. No rain in the forecast.

Prayers out to those caught up in the flash flood in Maryland. It's a shame that they didn't or couldn't get the area safe from flooding after the same devastating flooding that occurred just 2 years ago.

Hopefully you guys out there can stay high and dry. Seems like there has been drastically higher amounts of precip this past winter and still continuing into spring.

Going to take it slow and easy today...maybe a nap later...probably won't happen...wishful thinking.

Everyone enjoy the rest of your day, whatever your doing! Prayers out to all those needing and healing.

Came back from the farm last night. Heavy rains stayed ahead of us for most part. Small streams were flooding when we got close to home.

Then i saw that ellicott city got hammered again. I live 30 miles NW of there., as the crow flies. Governor just recently announced funding to improve storm water system there. Main street is a natural drainage, probably an old stream path, that water has to go down.

Was going to run string trimmer in wet grass, but wife just put my work clothes in the washer. So might start disassembling the old treadmill in the basement. Got so much junk to get rid of.

Thinking today of those that lost their lives for our country.

We also enjoy hearing all the birds. Our 'oasis' that we established here in the high desert seems almost like a rest stop along the highway for birds. Lots of migratory birds avoiding the heat from further south heading to the cool of the mountains. They build nests in some of the shrubs and trees that are close in to the house, I believe to avoid the predator birds. Allows us to look out the window and watch the chicks from hatching to fledge. Pretty cool stuff!

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 91F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

No sign of rain for the next ten days, and temps in the 80s in the 90s make it seem as though summer is already here. Wish spring could have stayed around a few weeks more...

Good progress on the big dirt bike with the pistons, cylinders, heads and valve gear all back on, and the transmission back in the frame. Probably finish today, and get it started to run for a few minutes for the first heat cycle. Then re-torque the heads tomorrow before a nice ride up the canyon.

Hope everyone enjoys the extra day off, and remembers those who died to make our way of life possible.
