40 and going to 57. Wind NNW 2 gusting to 20 mph. Sunny.

I will get a couple more cameras installed today. I have to rewire one and set the sensitivity down on all of them. I don't want the trees waving in the wind to set up a 'motion record session'.

Good Whipper. I do hope you gave him/her a big steak for that.

Have a good day all

70 and still raining off and on, going to 78 and storms.

Way to go, Whipper. Don that's a real cool bench, and delicious looking spuds.

Lou, really like your bird pics.

David, never thought about how the volcano could affect your water...glad you have a plan for that.

Get well Phil, Jay, Bups, and LS!

Outdoor cameras are tough to set because of all the motion. Mine are on 90% of the time. Even moving shadows because of clouds will trigger motion, besides blowing grass. And spider webs in front of the lens.

I'm glad David's tanks are full too, that's a lot of stored water. Might need it and just why you have it.

picked peas and strawberries for an hour, hoed for almost an hour and got rained out. Just gentle rain which is nice, still in 70's.

Now headed out to work on equipment.

I had forgotten to pick the snow peas I had planted in my little raised garden, where the strawberries are. So
instead of snow peas I now have two nice containers of "shelling peas" which is a nice
way to describe "too old you forgot to pick them" peas. Actually, I like regular peas...just not the stuff from a can.

Some bug is wrecking my cabbage, time to spray, held off as long as I can

And that awful wheat straw is just the gift that keeps on giving. First it grows an incredible amount of weeds, now it's
throwing up a batch of mushrooms. Are these edible?

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 6:00AM. Partly cloudy. High 74F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Plenty of aches and pains to go around this time of year with all the spring cleaning, planting, and yard work. Hope everyone is back on their feet very soon.

How do you keep all those potatoes from spoiling, Don? Do you have a nice, cool root cellar? A 5 pound bag barely makes it a month here in the pantry, and I end up discarding several that go soft or sprout too many eyes.

You should teach Whipper to use a shovel on those snakes. But it sounds like she's doing just fine with her teeth!

I tried to use an infrared based driveway alarm for a while, but moving brush triggered too many false alarms. Deer and turkey would also trigger it.

Got about five more hours in mowing yesterday, much of it on the steepest part of the property. Learned that very small throttle openings will preserve traction and eventually let the tractor back up slopes that would normally require help from the bucket. Which inspired dreams of cutting down the slope on the driveway and using the spoils to decrease the slope on those steep inclines. Drew dreams of new tractors, while I'd be happy with moving a lot of dirt and rock...

Also finished cleaning up the damage from the plasma cutting on one side of the trailer, and realizing one of the stake pockets on each side will interfere with mounting the new fenders. They're about 3" longer than the old ones. The could be mounted off center from the wheels and still work just fine, but that would look odd. Also got the rectangular tubing cut for the mounts. Found some with 1/4" walls, which will provide plenty of meat for the bolts that will attach the fenders. The neighbor's coming over this morning to talk about making provisions for tire basket type ratchet straps, which both he and I like a lot more than chains when hauling cars.

Before his visit I'll be out with the pole saw taking care of low hanging branches so I can finish mowing the treed areas of the property. Every year I say I'm going to get the limbing done before I mow but never do, but this year I'm going to do it right and avoid getting slapped in the face!

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

65°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 84° today. Chance for some lingering, heavy rains later today and possibly tomorrow.

Wife decided late last evening that she wanted a chocolate ice cream cone. So, I drove her into town to the local ice cream joint Dairy King at about 8:15, waited through the drive thru line only to find out that their chocolate ice cream wasn't working. Their original location is in Breese, about 9 miles east on old US-50, so we tried that. Apparently, there was some school event in town last night, as we couldn't even get into the parking lot. It's the place most everyone goes after events. So, we headed to the Carlyle Dairy Queen, yet another 9 miles east on US-50. There we found success. We ate our cones on the way home, and when we pulled into the driveway, I noted we'd just driven 40.1 miles round trip to get ice cream. I guess that's what I get for always telling her, "I'd do anything for you."

Garden bounty is looking good, gentlemen.

Looks like 35* for the low this morning, yesterday was nice low 70's and sunny. Today is going to be in the high 60's, partly cloudy with chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

I got some work on the fence done but it's going to be more work then I was thinking.
The aspens are starting to leaf out. They did that two weeks ago down in the valley. About 1,500 ft difference in elevation.

Making the weekly trip to town today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

No root cellar We just stack them in trays one layer only, inside the AC house and and in the garden house, we loose a few during the summer.

After we get all the cameras in place, then setting them up will be a new learning curve. I want them sensitive enough to pick up a small animal (fisher, coon, etc.) and not sensitive enough to get the blowing branches from trees.

Update on newer wheels. It should be ready this afternoon around 4.

I've been told not to wash the dirt off for potatoes being stored. It helps keep them longer. No expert here, but some folks keep them until new spuds are ready..

Got the flail mower up and running. Sure made a racket until all the blades got flung out to their normal operating position. Cut down little over 1’ of weeds at a speed the front will run. But ground is to rough for front mower. V

Going back out to cut lawn this afternoon. It will only be about 1/2 of what I normally cut. Flail will be doing the rest tomorrow.

Good evening all. 63F this morning, partly sunny, calm wind. Sky cleared to mostly sunny, wind stayed light, high temp of 93F. Made it to the old man's "open" golf, everyone throws in $5 for prize money, nice group of guys to play with came in 4th, 3rd is lowest pay. Then nap and bike ride, followed by 1 hour of work consulting. Dog decided to give hard time during walk, gave in when I pulled the phone out
Continued healing and volcano safety.
Prayers for all.

I've got to go to a meeting this morning, then home (hopefully about 1100). I have a gentleman coming in to estimate replacement of our gutters and spouts.
