riptides;
Groundhogs like to soak up the midday sun, maybe you need a .22. They go back to the burrow at night, so you need to bomb them in the late evening, just at dusk or a little later.
A .22 is the more humane way to eradicate them and that way you also get the meat for GH stew.

As much as we bicker and call each other names, I truly hope for a speedy and full recovery.
Thanks Kyle.

I hope you get more energy back, but I've heard the recovery is a biggie and takes time.
Yeah ... it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Side of face and neck will probably be numb for 4 - 6 months. Right now feels like I was swatted upside the head with a 2 x 4 ....

I can't lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for 2 weeks ... which kind of puts a damper on things.

I can drive after 5 days though ... just in time to go to the doctors by myself.

If I get any energy back it will likely be from ceasing smoking. If I can stay off those there's a good chance my legs - which have arterial blockages as well - will improve, at least to some degree.

I'd be interested to hear how your doing on a day to day basis.
I'll try to report on how I'm doing regularly.

Right now I haven't had a cig in over 72 hours ... my toes and fingers which were always cold due to lack of circulation feel flushed and warm. Amazing that it changes so quickly.

Chewing, swallowing food, and coughing is pretty painful ... even with OxyContin ...

Probably gonna be doing a good bit of sleeping for the next week or so.

My daughter pulled up about 10 of the 15 potato plants she planted. We have never had any luck prior to this. In the past we got beautiful green plants, but no decent potatoes....so she's pretty proud of herself. We did NOT buy planting seed stock, we had some new potatoes that just started "eyeing" and budding out and we just planted all 15 of them whole. No prep other than they had greened up and started budding.
Sounds like she's got the green thumb ...

It was 34* this morning, it rained most of yesterday and was on the cool side. It's cloudy this morning with a good chance of showers all day, the high will be in 40's.

We made a trip to town yesterday with the neighbors to do some shopping. We had a nice dinner and good company.

Just plan on getting little project done today.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

CWB.

So RS are you ready to join Ed and me.
If you mean being a non-smoker, I'd say I'm pretty much there ... if I can make it another 3 - 4 days, I'll probably be over the worst of it.

If you mean going vegan, no, not quite ...

Will most likely at least hold off on any more big life change decisions like that until I'm off the narcotics ...

I promise I will not misspell Billie's name again....:D

back from the Garden Club plant sale, what a mob scene, I think they will sell out, had to leave after I just became soaked in sweat and a little unpresentable after walking plants to the curb for little old ladies, and any one who needed a hand.

Now, finally, off to take the Super A out to the cornfield and see if I can help vs wreck it.

L4N, good luck with new van. Had a couple Chrysler vans way back when, including when they made them with awd, which
was very cool. Also a great touring car since you can see out of it easily.
If the current Pacifica had awd, I might consider it instead of the Audi.

Several of our members seem quite happy with their Kubota zero turns. I wonder how their lower priced Commanders do, looks like nice
equipment in something half the price of commercial duty. Have always believed in trickle down quality. If a company can build a superior product and sell
it at a premium price, their less expensive products, IMHO, simply have to have the benefit of improved engineering. Most really good companies won't build junk.
Pretty sure Kubota has no desire to.
JD is the one company I have seen that "gets away with" selling low tier riding mowers and also million dollar harvesters.
The stuff in Lowes and Home Depot sure looks nice, and the real question is it any better, model for model, than Husqvarna.

MTD is trying to step up; their commercial Cub Cadet model is very impressive, even sitting right next to the Kubotas on the dealer floor.
And some of them have steering wheels...BUT, still, no diesels with a steering wheel. Which is why I had to go up to the F series which from a durability
standpoint is way more than I need. If you can't grip z turn sticks, as I can't, and you want diesel, not a lot of options without spending a lot of money.
I bet Winsprd's zturn rides better than my F mower also. Mine is built on a frame that goes back decades. Latest Z turns are much improved on comfort.
Reminds me to let more air out of the tires on my mower. Dropping it down in 2 pound increments, waiting until tiny sidewall bulge, some wiggle. Was delivered
hard as a rock.

66°F and .29 inches rain

Got some good mowing in yesterday.

Met up with friends in from Michigan to house sit for other friends. Nice dinner downtown.

Good to see ya back, RS, Heal.
Prayers for all

Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 10:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 76F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Sorry to hear about the procedure, RS, and wish you a speedy recovery. My dad had the same operation, and the surgeon botched it. Plaque escaped into his brain and caused a stroke from which he never did recover. Hope you have better luck.

Was gonna comment on the Kalifornia solar panel requirement, Drew, but found myself carried away by the politics. Suffice it to say the new rule will do nothing to keep housing costs down or encourage more people to build more houses. Housing costs here are already highest in the nation; politicos just keep on spending. Oh, and state subsides for solar panels are due to expire soon. Sigh.

Question for all you zero turners out there: What's the steepest slope they're safe to side hill on? I regularly see 20° here...

Pulled the Yamaha carb back off yesterday and found some of the o-rings had swelled after only a couple days in gasahol. Should have got the rebuild kit at the dealer I guess. Gave the body a nice warm soak in 50/50 Krud Kutter/water and it cleaned it up better than anything I've tried so far. Blew it out with compressed air then loaded up the passages with aerosol Berryman's carb cleaner to sit overnight. I'll put it back together today and cross my fingers it'll run.

Little red headed gal at the supermarket this week asked me what radishes tasted like. Talk about leading a sheltered life!

I think I'll give the sheriff's office a call Monday and talk to somebody there about the neighbor's late night shooting. Similar behavior was noted for the nut job that shot up Rancho Tehama a few months back, and maybe they'll send a deputy out to have a talk with the idiots. Hate to poke my nose into someone else's business, but I draw the line at inappropriate use of firearms.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Drew, regarding gripping on zero turn. That was my concern as well as wife has very little grip strength in left hand due to nerve damage. Surprisingly, the Scag ZCat takes less grip than the steering wheel on the Craftsman rider. One can literally just rest hand on the grip and have positive control. Well, as much as a Z turn allows. I always tell others it hates hills/slopes, hates wet, and positively hates wet hills/slopes. I’m not a big fan, but wife loves it.

My wife doesn’t like the zero turn, so I use that, but she does do some mowing with the craftsman mower. I’ve abused my craftsman mowers terribly, I am always impressed at how well the survived.

Has the volcano affected you guys?

Nice day, but a bit cool...
Got the chipper off the truck...no problems. I got as much assembled as I could...this is a two person job, really...I think one of you wrote something about that.
Anyway...a bit tuckered out...I'll finish the assembly tomorrow. I hope my neighbor can lend a hand.

Are those 4WD Masseys kind of rare? How old is it? Did she even break a sweat tilling?
Tractor from the 80s. I bought it at an estate auction in 1997, with 300 hrs on it.
