I got some of the snow away from the east window, yesterday. Also got the install for the fuel pump finished except for the pressure test and the cover for the whole thing.

49 degrees going for a high of 74 today. More rain in the forecast for tomorrow, but not today. I'm hoping for a little more rain and don't care whether it's today or tomorrow.

Does anyone have stucco on their house? My brother has sone small cracks by his window corners going down and was wondering if this is just a caulk job or should he put in expansion joints? I told him I'll ask the "Morning Group", they are most knowledgable.

I've owned three houses and all of them had some form of stucco. The first's foundation had suffered a lot of settling, and all the window corners were cracked badly. I used paintable caulk to seal them up, then painted the stucco with paint rated for it. Held up well for the ten or so years I was there. The house I'm in now has a synthetic type of stucco on it, and there are hairline cracks all over it. It was painted with masonry paint from Home Depot a couple years back and the cracks came right back through. There are primers specially formulated to bridge cracks like these, and next time around I'll look into using one. A check with Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore, or other major brand paint store should turn up a product name, though.

Thanks for the herbicide info, Rick. I'll check around for one of the blends offering persistence, but likely would need to study up and get a license to purchase it out here in Kalifornia. With all the anti-GMO/glyphosate hysteria out here, the legislature is probably already considering bans, and I'll be stuck with vinegar and molasses soon.

Wonderful weather this weekend for the Airheads, and lots of interesting projects, and a puzzler or two, were undertaken. One very kind lady kept us all fed, though several of the guys pitched in to help her keep the kitchen in order. One fella had carb trouble, but didn't bother to bring any spare parts to solve the problem, but the major part of the issue turned out to be a poorly connected spark plug lead left over from his previous attempt to swap out the coils. :confused2: Another installed an upgraded alternator, but messed up the insulating washers on the brushes and routed the rotor exciter current to ground instead. I'd made both mistakes myself before and helped to get them both sorted out quickly. Much smaller crowd this year which kept things much more manageable, but it's still a challenge BBQing dozens of bratwurst when one guy's looking for a torque wrench and another one's trying to turn down a shaft in the lathe without center drilling the outboard end to keep it from flexing. Guinness Stout makes an excellent pre-BBQ boiling bath for brats, though.:licking:

Still have some cleanup to do, and some rearranging in the garage. I was also able to get the old K-bike BMW running again yesterday after some of the dust settled; all it took was installing a battery and adding fuel, just as I'd said in the ad. So it'll go back up on eBay this week for another try, but with a much higher starting bid.:laughing:

Kyle, Dick Raymond, in his book, The Joy of Gardening, talks about getting rid of perennial weeds in a garden. He worked it up and that day planted it in buck wheat. 30 days later he tilled it in with his troy built and planted buck wheat. He repeated that all summer and just wore the weeds out. Plant the buck wheat thick and it will build your soil as well.

The Joy of Gardening is my favorite gardening book ever. It is not a cute book on gardening it is a thinkers way of gardening and it works. Ed

The low was 34* this morning, yesterday was in the mid 60's, it turned out to be a really nice day. Overcast this morning with a 20% chance of rain showers for the day, with the wind 10-15.

Helped the neighbor for a bit yesterday. He doesn't have everything him needs to finish up the trailer. He is taking some goats to auction in Utah tomorrow and picking up the stuff he needs there. I might go down with him.

Good morning everyone-

A 30F clear and sunny start to the day. Temperatures should max out in the low 60F's. A great day to start with Spring cleanup around the place. It is still too wet to drive the tractor anywhere.

Ron- We made the decision to grow only herbs last year and the basil starts we purchased were "on sale" at a local garden center. They were hurting. It did not "feel right" not having a garden. This year we will plant a small garden. There are only two of us.

Randy- I am happy to read that the bronchitis is starting to break up. I hope you shake it soon.

Thomas- I saw a bear "hairball" the other day walking the field. So far the bird feeders have been untouched. That may change soon. Brogen was a bit testy walking in the woods this AM; something more than squirrels was spooking him. My snowline is gone. I have a couple of snow patches left.

Kyle- Was that a pileated woodpecker? They get close to our house going for the wild grapes taking over everything, but not that close. Thanks for sharing.

RNG- I agree about grilling brats and stout beer. They are made for each other.

Wifey is moving much better; probably the best that she has moved in a year with the prednisone which she is now tapering down in dose. She is back on the Paquinil(sp?). Wifey's birthday is tomorrow. We decided to celebrate by going to a decent steakhouse (Texas Roadhouse) for some steaks. These may be our last steaks for a while; beef will hopefully be out of our diets if we keep to "The Plan." If my glucometer still works I will start taking random blood sugars before I start CBD oil. Historically my morning "fasting" blood sugars ranged from 90 - 115, on a "bad" morning ~130. The discussions here about a plant based diet has made me and the wife think about how diet affects health. If not now; when?

Good morning to all! Low about 45, up to near 70. No rain, breezy. Today should be another nice day.

Went outside and took some measurements on the new property relating to positioning of the new house and garage. Planning ahead for fencing, parking /turn around, and enclosing a "backyard". Wifey is already planning out the backyard water feature and landscape (house isn't anywhere even close to being built yet) Should end up being about 500' of post and rail fencing.

After that, I took advantage of the nice weather and finally drilled the holes and installed tie down loops (6) on the trailer. Figured I better get it done, going to be hauling a lot of materials soon.

Knee is getting better....I'm getting restless...things to do...

Drew, just take whatever seeds you have left, mix them all together, plant those last few rows....would make an interesting experiment. :confused2:

RNG, glad your gathering went well. Always nice to have friends get together.

Randy, hope you get over the spring crud soon. Don't push it too hard, sounds like you have a lot to do.

No, found someone on a polaris ranger site with exact same problem. Apparently piss poor construction of the receiver.

I mowed the grass, sounded like I had death rattles when I finished. It’s amazing how much exertion a fast ZTR causes. I wore my mask as always. Took me half hour or so to get back to breathing semi normal. I feel pretty well but the breathing isn’t there yet.

I thought it was the two ridges on the bottom, but it's the lower sides. Theres plenty of room top to bottom. The receiver is made with a piece of upside down u shape, then the bottom piece is welded on. Tbe sides are simply too narrow. No easy fix.
You can see how far the hitch can go. I did wire brush it good, and tried all 4 directions. Will try another 2" hitch, when i find it.
