I just priced out a Husqvarna battery chainsaw + battery + charger all sold separately and the price tax in was a tad under $1,000.oo
The store will be keeping that one.

If it's only for occasional use try a 40V Black and Decker or Harbor Freight. A few years ago I bought the B&D 40V for my son and was so impressed I bought another for myself. It was $120 from Target, w/ 1 battery and charger. The HF Lynxx can be had for $150, again w/ battery and charger.

The B&D is not a 120cc Stihl 088, but then I've got one of them, but it does a decent job for a small saw.

I find it extremely handy, partially because I can keep it in the house with no complaints about fumes.

BTDT myself. When we bought this place the house had no basement and all the plumbing inside and outside was exposed PVC piping and questionable underground lines from the well head going to two buildings. I did all the plumbing then and had a few unexpected "showers' including one particularly lovely event when the outgoing septic pipe decided to become "inflowing" Heat tape and PVC solvent kept things working and flowing (usually). Our well froze up one Winter for two months = Now we have a real cellar with central heating, copper plumbing, and licensed plumbers doing the "big stuff" (like replacing a frozen/broken central heating system last year).

started the day washing the Outback which was a mess from pollen, then equipment, cleaned, dried, lubed the Kubota mower and then went out and mowed the entire place.
saves a good hour, but still tiring. Probably going to have to take that roof assembly off, it really doesn't do well with smaller trees like I have and low hanging branches. Six foot deck eats up the lawn but I can always feel the weight of the deck; those rear tires don't have any excess traction pushing the larger deck around, any kind of dampness and slope and it's worse than a z turn. Since I don't have hills and I know to stay away from wet ditches with the thing (I've pulled both of the other garden tractors out of those ditches so I know the ditch sirene is singing her song...)

Then I hauled a dozen watering cans of water out to the newly planted carrots and melons and watered that all by hand. Will water it again tonight or tomorrow morning after water turned back on. Forgotten the fun of being on the chain/can gang.
Finally I ran a weedeater for almost an hour cleaning up the entire garden area and nut orchard and by that time the
energy meter was on E. A hot shower and now moving not one inch until the plumbers come. Felix and Al. Both Mexican, Felix makes plumbing look easy. Though he has a little mud on his face on this one, and for sure some water in mine. I thought the pressure gauge was supposed to go on the pump; advertised as a pump option, but he installed it inside a T fitting and for all the reasons discussed it failed. And then I strongarmed it and got hosed for my efforts. Right off the street main too, lots of pressure.
I'm going to tell him to just run a straight pipe and not duplicate what he did; don't trust it not happening again.

package in mail saying live plants. ? I didn't order anything. Yes I did, last Fall, the sweet potatoes finally showed up

Do you plant them under plastic, or how do you keep the weeds down?

Harper's Ferry is a neat place to visit. I've been there several times, including once in the late 1950's or early 60's before it was restored. At that time, it was basically just as it was after the Civil War.
There's a spot up by the railroad tracks that you can stand in three states (MD, VA and WV) in one place...don't know if you saw that, but if you go again...do that. If you get on Route 15 North, you go right to Antietam...continue further north on 15, you end up at the Gettysburg battle field. This is a great day trip, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
BTW, if you get hungry on the way, stop at the Old South Mountain Inn near Antietam for some chow.

Yes. Recipe: From "Straight up Foods" by Cathy Fisher

(For the 1/2 cup of nondairy milk I blend a few nuts with 1/2 water in a bullet blender.)

1/2 cup unsweetened nondairy milk

2 ounces pitted dates

1/2 very ripe banana

teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups old fashion rolled oats

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

Blend dry ingredients to a flour.
Blend other ingredients to a thick (milkshake) consistency in a blender.
Mix the two and they make a batter (crust) for the top of the cobbler.

You also make a fruit sauce to mix in the fruit.

Fruit sauce is:

cup of water, 2 ounces of dates, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 1/4 cup oats, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon all blended and poured into the fruit.
The fruit consist of 2 cups of frozen peaches and 2 cups of berries in her recipe.

bake 375˚ for 25-30 minutes.

I keep watching the Tractor Supply ads for their Farm Worker brand of glyphosate to go on sale, but no luck so far. It's up another five bux this year, to $60 for the 2.5 gallon jug of 41%. I'll go through two or three of them spraying out yellow star thistle next month, so a sale that knocks off 10% - 20% would make a big difference. Don't know about other brands, but Farm Worker has surfactant already in it.

When I saw the $89+ price it was for TSC's FarmWorks brand. I must have looked at the wrong price tag or they had put the gly on the wrong shelf...will check again...it is $56.99 on their website for our local store.

No root canal! Just a permanent filling where the tooth had a tiny crack and hopefully that will be all that's necessary. I took the day off from chores, anyway.

the jury is still out but the rear finishing mower is what I mow the fields with in the hot summer plus I mow the roadsides with the tractor.
I thought I'd get rid of the JD garden tractor actually but I keep finding good uses for it. So I'm not making any changes until I'm sure.
Last time I sold a bush hog I thought I'd never use again. Wrong.

plumbers left, replaced the plastic pipe with galvanized steel, he promised this wouldn't leak and said no charge for today. I gave the two of them gas money and burger money for the way home anyway. They come from next town over and have almost an hour drive each way.
