BEF- Thanks. About the only thing wifey did not get was the heated steering wheel and the fancier audio/video electronics....... Now she wishes that she should have gotten the heated steering wheel. From what I now know about these "packages" the Premium should meet your needs. We really like those heated seats. They can help with those lower back aches & pains. Good luck with the dealership. IMO the dealerships make their $ with the different "warrantee packages" on exterior paint, wheel/rim dinger, scratch, and re-coating coverage, interior "protection," etc. By the time one gets to the "financial" person part of the vehicle buying process they are already on "sensory overload" conditions and barely able to process the "package" information. This is when one is the most vulnerable. Again- good luck.

RNG- I agree. At the outset we talked about self paying for the vehicle and yes, it did make a difference in the salespeople's approaches. In real life Wifey was a CFO for +25 years. We had the funds available; she made that decision. I suspect it came down to her having to drive 30 miles to our bank to get a cashier's check/certified check. We were getting double and triple teamed by the salespeople and the manager. We had a written quote from another dealership. That really helped. :wink:

Raccoons and fisher cats have been problematic for those we know who raise chickens around here.

Despite the rain, I had to go out and set up and try this out. Should work for my kids, the oldest two anyway, to split the nice straight pieces of wood. Last week my wife got a splitting axe with a two foot handle and two pound head when she was getting a replacement handle at the hardware store for the other axe. It seemed to her the right size for our six year old who was in the store with her. He can just lift it, but can't really split anything. I searched these forums for what size axe to get for kids, and saw a mention of the "smart splitter", which I'd seen before but was terribly expensive. Started poking around for dimensions, figured I could make one, but just for laughs checked the price in the eshops here.

Turns out that since Logosol started marketing it in different colors that the old green one had gone on sale for 19€. I would have a hard time buying the materials to make one for much less.

I need a new splitting block to put it on that isn't slanted, but otherwise, it seemed workable on dry, straight pieces of wood just dropping the weight down. Thursday the weather should get better, and I'm putting these kids to work!

Usta be any six year old worth his salt would give his eye teeth for his own axe. Now any parent in the US that gave an axe to that same six year old would be brought up on charges and the kid taken away by Child Protective Services. I'm starting to see why you choose to live where you do!:thumbsup:

I agree. We live in the namby pamby PC state of MA.

I would think the hawks, owls, coyotes, foxes, stray dogs, domestic pets, chicken snakes and bobcats would get all the uncaged chickens in a few months.

We have all of those predators around us. I've seen some owls recently that are positively huge. Foxes and coyotes will probably be our biggest worries. We know we have 'yotes visiting the barn on occasion, as I've seen the tracks in and around. We were kind of OK with it for awhile, because they seemed to be helping with the groundhog issue. Now, we're going to have to warn them off. I told The Wife we might need to set up a sniper's nest in the sunroom. Her cousin lives across the lake from us, and lost about a dozen chickens a couple years ago to a persistent fox.

Serious, but apparently not serious enough to have to give up my personal info in hope of getting any useful info that might entice me to buy something. I really dislike websites that require your info before they tell you what you want to know, only the hype of what they are selling. I’d also guess their advertising claims pretty much mimick those of most other structured, “eat only our stuff” plans. That said, I will be doing interim fasting. Maybe I’ll post my results along with the wx report

Pretty much like most vegetables. Would prefer fresh or frozen but wife likes canned. Her Dad was an Army cook so that’s how she was raised. I too was raised on a lot of canned moreso than frozen until we got a big freezer, but always fresh in season. Seems even when we didn’t have a garden, fresh was readily available by the basket. Home canned better than tin can, but as a kid someone else paid the freight and made the decisions

Have to agree. My own hatchet as a boy was a prized possession. Favorites I got from an uncle.
