Ed- Good luck. Is Mom involved with any community/home based support programs and are there any geriatric respite nursing home facilities in your area where Mom can go on a short term basis until she stabilizes from the effects of her Prednisone? Are there are also specialized geriatric hospitals in the area?

Ed, my wife never complained, she was better with mom than I was. But it became clear we could no longer keep her home.

3000UGUY- I am sorry to read about your dog. Thanks for answering my ? from many pages ago. One our closest friends had a female boxer. They are magnificent animals. Awesome loyal and protective. Thanks for sharing. "From when we noticed his weakness to his death was about 2 months. I felt terrible walking him into the vets, him hobbling along, in pain, knowing he wasn’t coming out. I miss him more than relatives that have passed. Great companion."-

Applies to us as well. Just as our male St. B. was coming out of his grief/depression from losing his "mate" I noticed the limp...... And I knew it was bone CA. I was right. Leo was taking 23 pills a day to manage his pain. I was going through 4 - 5#'s of bologna each week. I managed to keep him pain free to the very end. Saint Bernard's, like boxers and mastiffs, are pretty short lived; 8 - 10 years on average. Gracie Lou was 10.5 years old and Leo was 8.5 years old when they crossed the "Rainbow Bridge."

"... I don’t think she considers them dogs.." Your boxer is not alone in some circles.

Once we get back, our search for another St. B. (or 2) will begin in ernest. We would like to get another rescue (or 2), but what's good for St. B. rescues (high demand) is bad for "rescuers" (low/no supply). We'll see what happens.

Have a safe journey do not eat the wrong foods and watch your carbs
When you get back good luck in your search for the new puppies

Gone from 26 to 40 since daybreak. We should be in rain by 1 or so. I knew early this morning we weren’t getting any snow, birds weren’t feeding In droves like they always do before snow.
2" of snow. Roads were slick, not pushed yet in most places. Now turning to rain at 29°. Forecast to barely get above freezing, then back down.

34°F and cloudy this morning, dropping through the day to 12° tonight. Wind has started to pick up over the last hour.

As happy as I am to see Don making tremendous progress with his tree cannon, I am admittedly equally disappointed that I won't be seeing any potatoes flying over the horizon from the southwest.

Don- I hope the Super Bowl does not become the the Super Bowel and if so I'll be watching you.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Time to get moving.

Did some updates on my iPhone 6S today. What an ordeal that turned out to be. I tried to open the ADT Pulse app last night, and it wouldn't open. Said I needed to update to the newest version. Went to the App Store to update, and was told I needed to update my iOS to at least 10.0 or higher to run the new version. Tried to update my phone, and it said it was up to date at 9.2. Checked Wife's phone, and hers was at 11.2.5. So, I thought I''d try it on the laptop through the iTunes app. That program said there was a newer version of it available as well, so I figured what the heck, while I'm updating everything, may as well get that, too. Between the weather in the area slowing our HughesNet, and someone else in the house continuously watching videos, that took half an hour. My computer needed to restart to finish the process, and it seemed to get itself caught in an endless loop. So, I did a hard shutdown and went to bed.

Got up this morning and did the iOS update. Took almost 2-1/2 hours, but everything seems to work OK now. Looks different, but works.

Sometimes, I miss phones that were just phones.

34F and cloudy @ 13:15 ... was snowing earlier but it's moved east. Good chance we'll be getting another wave later as the cold air moves in.

Temps only in the 20's for high's starting tomorrow for about 4 days, then back up into 30's.

Didn't really get much snow ... dunno if that will continue to be the case though.

RS, we are going though withdrawal from no fish pics. Ever consider or try a salt water tank?

Rick I want that fire truck “A”.
Gosh I'm sorry Don, see while you are out there playing Paul Bunyan I'm going to snag that super nice "field and brush" fire apparatus. Now that is way too cool. For when my neighbor sets his fields on fire and they get away from him and head towards my precious pak choy.........

Rain started at almost exactly 1pm, just when I was coming in from a bonus two hours working outside. 57 degrees and felt awfully nice; picked up a cartload of sticks, threw 30 pounds of contractor grass seed onto spots that needed it, and then sat and stared at the garden. Now if the cabbage go there and the carrots go here...big fun puzzle.
