Woke up to another 2" of snow on top of sleet this AM. That makes +38" total accumulation for the Season so far; still behind the typical season so far but that is changing. The temperature was 22F a half hour later it had dropped to 19F. Wind is picking up as this cold front strengthens gusts ~25mph presently. I've seen today's high temperature. I spent the past +year entirely focused on the care of our two ailing and failing St. B.'s; keeping them pain free and helping them maintain some quality of life to their ends. I promised the wife that before we bring another dog or two into our lives we would take a trip. The trip starts Monday- we are going to Costa Rica. I used to work there with my "retirement" job mostly in the jungles and Gulf of Dulce. My Spanish speaking abilities are good enough that I can find a bathroom and/or order a beer. It's the second most place in the world second only to the Amazon River system as to bio-mass and specie diversity. So if my absence is noted, I do not have my undies in bunch over something or I am incapacitated.

We had some visitors this AM. It was almost as though they were waiting for me to broadcast that birdseed.

I saw this other picture on the internet. It touched me or at least the "little guy" still inside me.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes to all especially for those on the path to recovery.

For the weather man in you cold coming to last two to three weeks with low pressures taking the southern road. May get a coast storm or two but best bet is at the end of the period when a good size one comes a calling

They started it- A&B sucker punch while I was minding my own business hiking on a trail and then the attempted theft of jungle hat, sunglasses, and daypack. RIP and Bird thanks for sharing about your wive's challenges. Please try to take care of yourselves as much as you care for your wives. You deserve it to yourselves. It's not easy- care givers are very poor care takers.

Don- I never had to deal with a tap root like that or a trunk so large. I am impressed with the "project." I'll be following it if I can.

Buppies- Thanks. I will probably be able to follow the antics here while we are away. CR is really a well developed and educated Central American country. Cellphone coverage the last time I was there was far superior to my nonexistent coverage here. WiFi is everywhere. You know your weather. I have not seen you at any of the Weather Geek Anonymous meetings. I really like your weather prognostication skills; keep them coming.

I'll be watching and + thinking of all of you here; but not posting.

I do not know why I shoveled off the deck this AM, the wind blew most of the snow back. Those turkeys are fast becoming bird feeder pests; they are back.

I need to further insulate the "colder" spots in the cellar today/tomorrow and set up the cellar "cold weather" operation. We lost our central heating last year due to antifreeze loss in the baseboard heating elements and boiler with temperatures down to -23F = new system with antifreeze.

Ed- I hope that your Mom is OK.

A little delayed this morning, the Mom stop took longer than anticipated, no problems just business stuff. She did not fall during the full moon and after but Ed's mom was not so lucky. Hope she is not too sore in the morning Ed.

Time to get digging . . . right after lunch.

Ed- Thanks and thanks for the report on Mom. I am happy to read that she getting a little extra attention. Falls for the elderly (and some of us) are a serious threat, and sometimes result in really "bad outcomes."

Back from Dr, Salvation Army and Costco. Managed to drive by HF without stopping at. Cold but productive day.
Just got a call for my procedure on Monday. No caffeine for 24 hrs. This will be interesting.

Good thing I will not be watching the Super Bowl anyway. Maybe that’s why nobody had reserved the 8am appointment on Monday.

Ron- Good luck on the procedure. I am never a happy camper when deprived my morning coffee. The last time we went to CR I came back with 17 kilos of coffee beans intended as gifts. Customs looked at me like I was crazy. I/We never gifted any of that Costa Rican coffee. :embarrassed::embarrassed:
