Ron, there is a little molecule of memory floating around and I can't quite verify it. You were with me the last time the BH was taken off. Was it leaking that day?
I was thinking the same thing about when it last was used. At the Cemetery. Do not remember any leaks. You got the FEL leaks fixed.

Good Morning All,

32F here now in northeastern MD. Rain last night has not had a chance to dry up so everything has a shine when viewed by flashlight. Supposed to get colder and windier throughout the day. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Dynamite, what every real man should carry in his tractor's toolbox. Never let a tree get in your way! KABOOM what great fun...explosion videos are really big on YouTube. With I'm sure
lots of trips to the ER and mortuary. Be careful out there.

46 in light rain with temps dropping through the day, cold 21 tonight, I think.............last of low twenties this year. High twenties I don't have to disconnect all those hoses and drain them if it warms up in the day. Too many pumps that can freeze, makes cold weather kinda dicey on machinery. Not our faithful tractors though. And in Massachusetts happy tractor drivers are jumping on their cold seats with a smile. Except those who have to go to work....

Definitely the wet season starting after a long period of dry and below average rain. Rain predicted every three to four days in the long forecast, have decided I'm not in such a rush to get those onions out Feb 1 with nasty weather like this outside. Onions are doing fine inside, and so am I...;)
I think I might plant a flat of zinnias today. I already planted a small container of six each of six varieties, well one is a strawflower, and they all popped up like weeds.
I have four inch pots to replant them, so I think I'll make up a dozen pots of zinnias and give them to friends.

If you can bring a little laughter and beauty to a friend, well every day is an opportunity for kindness.

And there are several in our midst who need some extra kindness. A great big FEL scoop of kindness and prayers for speedy recovery for Mrs. Bird and Mrs. Riptides.

Rainy day, headed to Kubota dealer, again..., with printouts of parts for Y splitter on Super A fertilizer system, so the fertilizer comes down the chute, hits the selectable Y fitting and then goes down two flexible pipes, one on each side of the plant. Every time the hiller/cultivator drops, the fertilizer system turns on. With the coolest exposed gears and
chains and stuff you never see any more. Probably because a lot of fingers are missing from too many people... yes, I'm going to take the chains off and soak them in oil, then I have some spray bicycle chain oil which ought to be suited. I really don't want it flinging oil over the side of the tractor either.

I need the cross piece, found it on Ebay, and the middle buster rig that is supposed to loosen things up before the hiller discs get there. My soil is so soft it really isn't needed, but
assuming they are available, and pretty sure they are, the parts aren't that expensive. Not sure how the middle buster piece fits to the bar, must be a shank I don't have, some holder.
That's what I'm off to find out about, and these guys not only know, but like talking about it. Must be tiring looking up Kubota air filters all day...this is much more interesting.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 6° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 20° with wind and partly sunny skies. Off early to a ultrasound test this morning. Never did do the Costco and Salvation Army run yesterday. So it's on the list today.
Prayers for all those feeling under par.
Good Morning All.

31 windy and that's the high less than one tenth of an of rain. Still seeing very cold temperatures for the east after the 15th of the month lasting into march

Never been around dynamite and I'm too old to start. Tree stumps are hard to remove have been my experience. Did a small job in Hokie land yesterday not much planned for today

Prayers sent for Riptides wife Birds wife and other unspoken requests

Would your harrow be from William Hackett Chain Products Drew ? There is an old saying in the area I come from - if something doesn't quite fit, a rough and ready fix is to , "Hack it and Smack it" (cut/file, then hit it with a hammer).

Absolutely! William Hacket Chains Ltd. Maypole Fields, Cradley, Halesowen, West Midlands B53 2QE
You guys could do something about your addresses....what a mouthful. Like listing the State, County, Township and post office location I guess all in one address...
Something tells me your postal folks can figure it out just fine.

When I was growing up in the 50's in PA they still used the name of your farm on your address.
Rockwood Farm for me

Reading that British address again...
Unless Maypole Fields is some historic site that the chain factory is sitting on, so that is the street address,
where is the street address? There is none...and I think Maypole Fields is the small area around the factory, if my Google Mapping
was correct, so the Brits feel their postal folks are smart enough that if they get them close to the area, well if they don't know where the chain factory is
they probably should be doing something else.

Our postal system used to work like that, but now I think just about all of us are
reduced to a 9 digit hyphenated zip code.

I just love the current attack on jerrymandering. Shows how politicians have used addresses and locations
not for the good of the people but to promote special interests, particularly their own.
You have to wonder if just going by zip codes makes more sense... though sense and fairness
were never the primary objectives it seems.

39 outside this AM. Severe drought in my area from what I heard on the news. Was suppose to get rain earlier this AM, has not shown up yet.

On the stump fun, hit it with a pressure washer and let it sit overnight. Especially now with freeze/thaw that will give you a good eyeball on the major sticking points as well as taking mother natures grip off it ever so slightly.

Have a great day all, be safe. Hey, it's Friday! I need to go find another real job for a short time. LOL.

-14 and going to a high of 1. Wind NNW 5 mph. Partly sunny. I guess the rodent had better wear his longjohns.

You need to get under that stump (with the hoe bucket) and cut the tap root, then it will fall over. If you don't know what you are doing with dynamite, you will be better off leaving it alone. Even the home made stuff is dangerous.

I didn't get the chick starter, nor the diesel fuel yesterday but it is on the list for today. I'll nip the 2 miles into town and grab the fuel, then drop it off at the house and go 20 miles north to get the feed/litter.
That will be all I do outside today other than set up one game camera. The other one is gonna have to wait until some snow is gone.

All my orders are here, so I don't need to watch the mail either. All the bills are in and paid.
The game cameras showed up yesterday and they are programmed and ready to be set up. My new phone is set up and charged. The headlights are charged and ready to go and the order from Bit of Home (simply British foods) is in and ready to be eaten.

The DIL flatly refused to make me Haggis for Robbie Burns day, so I had to settle for sausages.

That is it for today, I think

Have a good day, all

Had to look up Halesowen on the map. Closest I've been to there is Warwick. Neat castle there.
I enjoyed visiting the UK years ago.

Summer of 69 I turned 17, got a job with a guy that ditched with a crane and dug septic tanks on Saturday. I mostly cut small trees with an ax or dug holes with a shovel, moved 125lb skid boards to load the crane, etc...
We often blasted stumps in our path. We drilled One stump and put the usual 4 sticks in the holes, connected the wires and went to cover and blew it. When the dust cleared it wasn’t even cracked! It was Friday afternoon and we were not messing around. We drilled more and put 6 sticks in and wired them to the detonator (6v dry cell). Started back to cover and I got my foot tangled in the wire and tripped knocking down Earl and pulling the battery off the stump where we left it. As luck would have it wire number two made contact. The stump blew and covered us in debris and near deafening us. When we jumped up und looked the stump was headed for low earth orbit! Didn’t quite make it, instead reached terminal velocity about 80 yds down range and crashed through an outdoor toilet in a small black community nearby, totally destroyed the outhouse! When we got our wits we ran over there to find about 10-12 elderly black people standing around staring. Thank God the Johnny was empty upon vehicle re-entry.
I’ll never forget the sight of that 5 ft chunk of cedar arching through air that far from the launch point. And the horror I felt when I realized it was headed for the relief station! We spent Sunday and Monday building a toilet!

Rainy and cold 30s and dropping. Cold until Sunday when it rains again. Farmers will not be complaining about dry. We’ve had 12 inches of water between rain and snow since December 1.

Good happy Friday everyone!

-3 here this morning with 3-4 inches of new snow yesterday.

Got the tractor out yesterday to clear away the snow. I debated doing it at all being with the warm up a couple weeks ago, there is ice under the snow and was hoping the new snow would give some traction. I went ahead and plowed knowing if I wasn't happy with it, there'll be more snow tomorrow. :)

Had my first "fun" with the tractor after the back slid on the ice a bit and I found myself on a slight sideways slope with a tree right behind the back blade and a old stump in front of the front tire...kind of like being parallel parked. My first attempt at getting unparked actually made it worse being I was on the small slope and the tractor just wanted to get even more parked while sliding down the slope. so after back and for the a few times the light bulb came on that I could spin the backblade giving me a couple of feet of room rather than the couple of inches I was edged into. Lesson in all this? Get the chains I figured I didn't really need and stop sliding around on ice!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! 43˚ cloudy. A diesel run for me a grocery run for Mom a early lunch and the back at it. I was really surprised how solid the tree was after half the roots were gone. I need to start coming up with another solution if it still won't budge after all the root I can reach are cut. I'll probably cover the hole up and get a stump grinder. This is one project where my tractor seems so small.

Don, does the show start at 10am Eastern, or Central?
And how long will the union allow you to work today? I have to put my popcorn order in, and the wife wants to know how much to pop.
