Man what a storm. 170 km/hour (105 mph) winds in some places, with 30 centimetres of snow caused wide spread power outages. Our power was not restored for three days. Early morning around 3a.m. the stormed turned to pelting rain dropping the snow levels but turn much of the snow to slush which continually clogged the shoot of my tractor's snowblower. I ended up using the bucket to do my snow removal route for it was easier then continuously unclogging the blower.

Thanks for sharing...you put cold chill down my spine.

4F actual, -14F windchill, and mostly cloudy @ 08:30, overnight low was -3F.

Headed up to the mid-20's for the day with some snow on the way in ... either later today or tomorrow. It will turn into a frozen mix by 09:00 - 10:00 on Monday.

Fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours last evening, then woke up and haven't been able to get back to sleep since.

Mebbe a dishwasher repair, and a possible trip to Menard's or The Depot later once it warms up.

-1 now, but sun starting to come out.

Vehicle started. Gotta take boys to airport. Wife said she would take them, but i want to ride along.

Roy, what TV? I been looking at that size. I have a 52" sony projection tv, 10 yrs old. Recently replaced bulb. I have a better tv in basement. Seems costco samsungs go from 50" to 65", would like something in between. I need to redo my whole setup.
Have a big oak entertainment center, stereo rack on left with glass doors, then a tv area in center, with rolling doors that can close it. Drawer on bottom, and another CD upright drawer on right side. My projection TV was way too big to fit in, so it sits beside it. Both take up around 14' of wall space.
Wife keeps lots of pictures and candles on top.
Like i said yesterday, buying the 1 new receiver is going to lead to a major rework of the FR, but it hasn't changed in 20 yrs except for adding the tv 10 yrs ago. Whole house needs painted inside, all original paint when built. I hesitate because i have stained wood trim, lots of work to tape off.

Well, better get ready to go.

Be sure to check actual dimensions of new TV. A 55" new screen TV may be smaller than your 52". We had a 65" Mitsubishi projection TV with in it's own cabinet. We now have a 65" Vizio 65". Wish had waited another year. I could have gotten a 75" that would fit in same space. The 65" is mounted on a swing arm.

Eric, I have been trying to establish a hedge here, about 300 ft long, on the east side of the house. I have lilacs right now, I am going to put in rose of Sharon next. I致e seen pics of hedgerows in your country, they seem to be of several different types of plants? I don稚 plan to trim this thing much, I want it to grow up as a barrier. Any advice?
Hedges can take some work to build.

There are some good youtube videos on the process.

One thing that I've found a bit surprising...
Other then ONE snow mobile track in the snow (few miles north of here) and two machines being gassed up a week back, I've yet to see much in the way of snow mobiling this year. I'm not into it and don't own a snowmobile, but with the snow we have here in the Northeast seems to be optimal for the activity.
Maybe it's too cold...?

Same here Roy. We usually see snowmobiles on the 20 acres next to us. Nothing this year.

Man -18f . That is -25c and that's cold enough. On a positive note, I would sooner dry cold then just a bit below freezing and damp. I am going to go try to blow out the logging road later to see if I can't get some firewood for some people. There is some people that are simply not prepared for winter and coming to me looking for dry firewood this time of year.

Lot of snowmobilers in our area more or less stop riding because of cost..Reg.,Club dues,Cost of machine/machines,Insurance,Fuel etc.,most riders rather ride state trails since clubs are scaling back on there trails, last couple winters plus snow has been that deep nor riding season like in the past.

It was 3 outside this AM. This is our last full day in NYC. I started looking at the medical bills this AM. They don't waste anytime with billing. All I can say, is I am glad I had insurance last year. YIKES.

So I need to find a bigger suitcase for all the stuff we collected in our time here.

It will be good to get back home. Another milestone reached. We have another post-op visit next month up here, so I need to plan for that.

I also need to start picking up work when I get back home. See above. LOL.

Have a great day all, be safe!

Good morning all. It is warm this morning, -10 and going to a high of 19 with snow. Wind S 10 gusting 17 mph. Didn't I tell you guys that it had to get warm to snow? Jeep is plugged in and I am raring to go, not! But a dump run must be done and I should clean out the mail box before the mail girl thinks we are ll dead, here. I will need to go to Huntsville Ontario, not Texas, also. Speaking of HAs, my Grandfather had one at age 48, they diddn't expect him to survive to see his first grandbaby. Me. So Mum named me after him and my Dad. The moniker was longer than the baby. 3 first names. My Dad had one at age 51 and he survived until 1993, another 20 years. Complications from a stroke took him. I have never had one, I'm 71. I have never really looked after it, did as I pleased and partied my brains out until age 40. I'm wondering if the first HA I have will be the one that kills me. Probably. Anyway, enough of this morbid subject, Stay safe and warm everyone.

How much snow did you guys get in the last few days? We are just East of Dorset.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 6:15AM. Sunshine early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 56F. Winds light and variable.

Almost three inches of rain predicted here for tomorrow. As much as we need it, I hope the weatherman's wrong as that much all at once will raise havoc in all the burn areas. Erosion, mudslides, road closures, just to name a few.

Spent some time yesterday doing some housekeeping on the media server, renaming the Star Wars movie files so they would group together. Also learned about prequels, sequels, and anthologies, and how the purchase of 20th Century Fox by Disney will lead to many more movies, but not necessarily in a straight series. For instance, last years Rogue One was the first anthology, and describes events before the original three movies where the rebels learned of the Death Star's weakness, which was ultimately exploited in Episode VI, Return of the Jedi. This kind of release sequence makes it impossible to view the movies in historical sequence, and it's only going to get worse. Still, I'd rather see more movies in the series, and Disney has the talent and horsepower to push out one a year. And after all that, ended up watching Rogue One again, and very much enjoying it!

Also got started back on the old motorcycle, pulling together the parts for the steering damper. Looks like there are some missing pieces, one or two that I'll end up making. Still haven't figured out how it mounts on the bike yet, and haven't even been able to find photos of one, either. I guess that's part of the fun?

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

Riptides, glad you are heading home, hope it goes smoothly. I had to chuckle when you talked about your bill.
You know how when you are leaving the hotel they slide the bill under your door? That must have been quite a packet
slid under your door...

Buckeye, hope you have/had a nice drive with your boys. I know it will feel a bit lonely coming home.
Your sons should be reassured they have a father that shows he is there for them.

RNG, I keep telling my sister she is living in a geological war zone and she just smiles at me.
California is wonderful until it decidedly is not. But keep those avocados coming please.
I had to chuckle, down the small community pathway from her home in Muir Beach are the Zen something community gardens.
A sizeable chunk of incredibly prime acreage donated by someone to remain as gardens, which of course are organic and provides veggies to all the locals
on a subscription basis. I tell her I hope the good Zen around there keeps her from sliding into the sea. Or going up in flames (they have already preplanned escaping to the beach...) or sliding into the ocean in a massive mud slide after an earthquake. It's no wonder the insurance is high there. Though every property is different and with good landscaping and design/engineering features one could certainly reduce risk. But who wants to cut down all the trees?.....though in those areas around LA incinerated, I bet they have some serious new
regulations in the works.
