My boys made it back to school in AR. Now to buy the spring break tickets. Oldest has 2 semesters left.

Did some retirement reading today. I worked 20 yrs for my first company, and get a pension at 60. If i can get rehired, and then directly retire, i can carry their health insurance in retirement. My objective now is to get rehired there before 60. Hope they have some jobs available.

enjoyed watching a family of river otters......now having some hot coffee.

Do they take cream and sugar JerryBob? Probably the young otters shouldn't have too much coffee.
Wingspread I'm sure has some coffee recommendations for otters.

been a quiet afternoon. I can only stare at tiny onion seedlings so long. They just don't grow fast enough to be entertaining.
Although the amaryllis is growing almost an inch a day.

6 inches of snow here and record low temps. Most of County offices including Court closed again tomorrow.

You should see their donuts!

Made it to 32 today. Cold front is just now coming through and already 20 headed to 9.

Got birds taken care of and control rooms swept out and a little cleaning on them. Went and got allergy shots. Now looks like I’ve been stung by a wasp on both arms. Welps about a half dollar in size. Have gotten them since the first round.

Only snow flurries for us.

Evidently I typed this and never posted it on Wednesday.

14 this morning and currently 40 with light rain. Still under winter weather advisory for a half inch of snow/sleet and 1/10 an inch of freezing rain.

We’ll be thawing this week. Just hope roads hold up for birds to start leaving Thursday night.

The east coast is hogging all the snow and wife isn’t happy. No snow days.

Buckeye good news.

Good evening all. 50F this morning, heavy overcast and moderate south wind. It windier, rainier, and not much warmer, high was 56F. Not much on the agenda besides going to chapel.
Rip have a safe trip Monday!

Another night without cloud cover has nicely sucked the heat out of the ground and turned it solid, so a good time to replenish the rapidly diminishing wood pile without sinking into mud.

Wng, Ron, thanks for the trail history info. It is strange seeing place names on that map that look so familiar to me, such as Middlesboro, Speedwell & Harrogate . I guess that's another area where the intrepid pioneers didn't care to use their imagination when it came to naming new settlements.

LFN, your SIL may know of the caves no far from Sheffield known as "Speedwell cavern". There are quite a few other places to see stalactites and stalagmites, however this one is memorable in that to get to them, you have to go deep underground and then travel through the old flooded lead workings in a small boat. As an added attraction for curious children, it also has a bottomless pit

Kyle, my time with valve amps ended over 40 years ago and that's one piece of history I am happy to leave to you enthusiasts like you to keep alive :)

Riptides, safe journey and then it's home sweet home.

Good morning all, 18 this morning headed to 35 with a wintry mix. Mom has a Dr. app today at 9:30 and the wintry mix is supposed to start at 10;00. Not sure what to do as if she has to walk farther than here at home she is in a wheel chair. Not sure what I will get in to today, time will tell.

Rip, Safe trip and wife's comfort prayers headed your way.

Randy, keep smiling Bro, still praying.

Still praying for others who have lost loved ones.

Praying for all of the colds and flu folks.

Have a great day. Ed

Heat Wave!!! 16 going to 38.

Jerrybob, sounds like you have our spring weather out there...hummingbirds and kayaks...sounds nice.

Eric, seems like most of our places are named after places/royalty in Great Britain...Norfolk, Suffolk, Southampton, Richmond, Middlesex, Sussex, Gloucester, Princess Anne, King William, Charlotte, Buckingham, etc. or Indians: Pungo, Mattaponi, Pamunkey, Powhatan, Nottoway, Rappahannock, etc.

The stories told of how many places were named includes pure flattery to royalty, or a view of the landscape that reminded the founders of home...such as Richmond's view of the James River reminded them of a similar named place on a rise above the Thames. We don't have a Shropshire, Virginia, but we've had folks here with Shropshire as a last name.

46 today and 55 tomorrow. Thank goodness.
Good morning all.

Eric, I thought the only bottomless pits were boats... ;)
I wonder how many pennies and things get thrown in there, signs or not.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 30° with snow this morning. Heading to 36° with cloudy skies. First day with a above freezing high since Christmas. Couple of inches of snow overnight. Need to clean walkways. Wife has a doctor appointment today. Yesterday's faucet/drain project. Went like most plumbing projects. 6 hours later and trips to Menards and Lowes. Looks and works good. I have pains in places that I do not remember having before. Still need to put items away in vanity cabinet and put tools away.
Hope all are feeling better today. Prayers sent.
Riptides, have a safe trip home.
Good Morning All.

18 above now, looking for a high of 28 and 2-4cm (about 1.5") of snow. there is already 1.5" of snow on the deck from overnight snowfall.

The Jeep goes in this morning for a new oil pan and pump. The original one is leaking so out it comes. Barring any 'complications' it should cost me about $800. to $1,000.oo.

Eric, when the DIL gets out of hospital I will ask her about the caverns. Right now she is battling new-moan-ya (I cant spell the word but you can figure it out from what I typed). Over New Years she was in North Bay hospital twice and both times they gave her a bunch of pills and kicked her out. This time she went to Huntsville, because North Bay was swamped with flu cases. Huntsville shipped her down to Bracebridge, that is a good thing. Bracebridge is a no nonsense hospital and will fix her up better than new.

The kitchen tap was leaking yesterday, so I took it apart, turns out the taps are a Moen copy and the Moen cartridge will NOT fit. So after the Jeep comes out of mechanics, it will be off to Home Hardware and get a new set of Moen taps. I swear by Moen mainly because of the lifetime no hassle warranty on the cartridges.

In 45 minutes I will slide into town and the mechanics, they will give me a ride home and pick me up when it is ready. They also call when there are complications with additional estimates. Minor things like 'we busted a stud off in your head and it will need to come off to drill out and re-tap for a new stud'. To which they will get told, 'DO NOT do the valves".

That is it for now, not all doom and gloom,

Take care people and try to stay warm, I don't want to hear of any chest pains from shoveling snow.

After the last more than a week of periodic sub zero temps the 28F that it is right now feels like spring! Very need break before the chill coming this weekend.

Looking forward to getting through the work week and hope I get my tractor delivered this week. Would be nice to get it soon enough while the temps are nice so I can start to get used to it.

Good morning everyone!
