Good Afternoon!!!! 60F @ 12:15 PM. A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 61F. Winds light and variable.
That's some very good news about your wife, Rip. Hope her progress improves and you make it home ASAP!
Oh my, you folks have been busy! Spent all morning catching up, and just hope all of those under the weather, health and real weather wise, get better. That storm coming up the east coast looks nasty. Last two winters I spent in central Ohio were full of ice storms and sub zero temps, and I feel for the folks going through that.
Made it home from the desert yesterday afternoon, safe and sound. Nice weather down there, with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 40s. Much better than the past two years, where temps dipped into the 30s overnight and everyone was shivering round the campfire each evening and morning. The ride down started with temps in the 20s when I dropped down into the Sacramento Valley, but by noon had made it up into the 50s. The bike has a big fairing, heated handgrips, and a nice warm cylinder over each foot, so I was toasty. Stayed at a budget motel in Lancaster the first night and enjoyed some bar food and a few craft beers in the old town portion of the city. Easy ride the next day, I think I posted seeing 77F in San Bernardino where I stopped for lunch. Food at the rendezvous was very good, eight meals cooked on site by a crew of three, morning casseroles with eggs and cheese, smoked meats and canned veggies for dinners, even a dessert or two. No one went away hungry, or even came close to losing any weight! The home brew wasn't much to my liking this year; too sweet and syrupy, but there was a good supply of 805 and other canned selections available. Rode 450 miles on New Year's Day with a friend of mine, it was his birthday so I treated him to a sushi dinner complete with hot saki. That helped clear my head, which had been suffering from the sniffles since the day before. The cold really hit hard last night, sinuses all packed up, runny nose, coughing my head off. Time for more Robitussin and Aleve Cold and Sinus, and some of the home made chicken noodle soup I squirreled away earlier. I consider myself lucky I didn't get sick sooner, as I've had something chewing on me since Christmas. Tis the season, I guess.
My very best wishes to each and every one of you and yours for 2018!
