Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:15AM. Mostly sunny. High 58F. Winds light and variable.

Seems like the weather guessers would be making a bigger deal about the very cold temps in the middle of the country, but there's not a peep about it out here. And last night the TV weatherman cancelled the chance of rain we had for early in the new week. :confused2:

Hope everyone out there takes it easy in the snow and is able to stay warm. Especially Ron!

Got a nice Christmas Card from Liberty Mutual yesterday, declining to renew my homeowner's insurance. Not surprising, really, what with all the big fires near here and to the south. Talked to a local independent agent who was very busy writing "non-standard" policies with Lloyds of London and other companies that aren't registered in California, at twice the going premium charges. I've got feelers out to friends and neighbors to see what they plan to do, but my bet is that the problem is going to be very wide spread.

Finished the last of the Cowboy Stew last night, and that last spoonful still tasted like more. Gonna need to whump up another batch real soon, and make sure some of it gets into the freezer this time.

All packed up and ready to head south at first light. First leg will find me in Lancaster, CA this evening, just a short walk from a nice brew pub. Temps are in the thirties down in the valley, so I'm going to need that extra layer and all the heat the electric grips and jacket can put out.

10°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 25° today.

Crabby this morning. Not much sleep last night. The boy decided to get up and go in and out (I lost track how many times) at some point after midnight, alarm system beeping every time he disarmed it and opened the back door. Wife got up and fussed at him over it several times. Youngest dog woke up around 04:00 and decided her crate would make a fine place to potty, the stench of which woke me from my already thin sleep. My alarm at 05:00 was a quite unwelcome sound. Going to be a long day.

On the bright side, traffic this week has almost been pleasant.

-11 below now single numbers for high but the windchill going to be tough at times.
Todays plans keep my nose and toes warm and inside puttering.

Yesterday was long work day 7am- 1am this morning for another co worker also call in and we both weren't happen what we found waiting for us,but most of all the reason why this young guy didn't do as he promise and management accepted his request for the time off....As they say spare the rod spoil the child...

Well it looks like storm will slide to south of us this coming weekend :cool2: dang glad about that,but the chimneys will be puffing like old locomotive next several day.

Well, just had a plumber here to replace the pressure tank for the well....can't complain too much. The old tank was probably 20some years old.

As far as staying warm...think I'm staying in the house for the rest of the day!

They said the flu shot has only a 10% chance of stopping the flu and my my poor fluy wife will agree. She is the 90%. The Dr. put me on Tamiflu since I'm now exposed to it. She got her flu shot at the Hospital I got mine at the grocery store in Giddings.

Saw the news the southern states will feel flu affect greatly,also there's 4-5 different strains of the flu....next will be having 6 seasons,Spring,Summer,Fall,Winter,Mud,Flu seasons.

I feel bad about all the cold temperatures everyone's dealing with. It was 27* when I got up this morning. Today is going to be partly cloudy with the high in the upper 30's, with the wind 20-25 mph.

We got back from SLC yesterday afternoon. No new snow here but the wind added to some of the snowdrifts. We had a good time with the daughter and grandsons. My wife is taking the grandsons back down today and staying for a week are so.

The last time I was in Jackson was in 2000. The hospital was nice enough to put some screws in my right hip. It wasn't a fun elk hunt.

Going to town to have lunch with the wife and grandsons before they go back and do some shopping.

Really? I watch zero television and YouTube has been great for me. everyone in the world seems to be videoing everything.
Take a train ride through Mumbai, an air flight into Hong Kong at night. And of course all the gardening how to videos.

Once you watch enough of them, they remember what you search for and offer a lot better random choices.
The stuff they offer for new viewers is just fluff, tv shows, etc. You have to search for topics you like, then at least for me
they have provided a lot of entertainment.

I seem to have jinxed that Jackson Hole camera, hasn't snowed since I linked that. But geez a lot of traffic through that town.
Truck just went buy with six snowmobiles on the trailer. Had one of those in the 70's and it was great fun. Big burgundy Yamaha with handwarmers.
