Oil change postponed. A bit colder...now -18 degrees.

22 degrees, heaters roaring, electric heaters on, electric utility board of directors all smiles this morning.
That temperature map is wild, minus teens for Texas isn't going to be appreciated by man or critter alike.

Ron hope your heater repair guy comes first thing, and great you have backup. I don't think I could live up North any more without either a giant wood stove and/or whole house gen. I'm likely to fire up my fireplace today now that cold weather has really set in. It makes my small den too hot, dumb building a fireplace into a smaller room, heat can't get out, though I know fans can help and I turn on all my ceiling fans when the fireplace is cranked up. Move that heat...

I think I may go check on my outdoor pipes again. Sadly I think another water line break has occurred headed to the barn, the sixth one in three years. At least now I have a cut off valve installed. Sure shows why it's important to use the right pipe the first time. Original owner of this place put this piping in himself and he was pretty clueless apparently with the adhesive. I was thinking of letting the water drip down at the barn but four days of that and I'd need ice skates. Going to just turn it all off and keep my fingers crossed.

Currently in hibernation mode ... although The Woman did coax me into going out to refill the bird feeders after she got home yesterday afternoon.

Drew, maybe an inch or two on the ground here. We're near the bottom of the secondary snow belt so it's usually not too bad ... most of the time.

My wife is planning to take her parents home today. Had to take her dad to the urgent care center yesterday...so this added to the trip to the ER on Christmas Eve has been keeping the local medical business busy. She'll stay with them a couple of days while I take of a few things, and Coco, here.

Renewed my SiriusXM deal yesterday...took some negotiating. Probably should have done it sooner and asked you guys if you subscribe and how you negotiated...my wife's free subscription was about to expire, and I wanted her to still have it for the trip. I never thought I'd actually pay to listen to the radio, but have found some great stations and shows, including a channel that replays old radio shows from the 40s and 50s. So worth the $5 per month per vehicle for us.

I have a grassy/weedy area near the creek that I've wanted to mow...but always too wet/muddy/soft, even lately with the dry spell...so figured with this cold spell I'd get out and mow it while it is frozen...so picked up sticks and flood debris yesterday for a couple of hours getting ready for the mower...I'll use my lawn mower and be careful since there are big exposed maple roots, but I'll likely hit a few things such as crawfish castles, and little saplings...but I need to change the blades on the mower, so now's a good time to do it.

Drinking first cup of very hot coffee. -18° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 14° with cloudy skies. House it staying at 63°. Waiting for someone to wake up and come out to fix furnace.
Drew, good idea on fan. I turned ceiling fan on reverse to move heat away from ceiling. Seems to help.
I can survive in a 60° house. But I do not like it.

Good morning all, 6 this morning going to 25. Spent some time in the shop setting up a jig to cut 16 segments to glue together to make a banjo pot, will try something different today I hope. Every joint has to be perfect and what id did yesterday was off a bit. Glad for the warm shop.

LOL ... the fish room, of course ...

Designed the stand for the 100G tank and the rest of the racking for the room yesterday evening ... just need to measure again and tweak/finalize the dimensions.

Yeah ... I'm guessing that finishing the redo on her bathroom is probably on the top of that list ...

I'll get right on that.

Ron, hope your heating problem is solved soon. The NWS is predicting a high temperature of 26 for us New Years day with a northerly breeze, then a low of 15 that night. I just hope there's no snow or ice since I have to take my wife to a doctor the day after New Years.
