Held off plowing driveway yesterday because of freezing rain, hope it was enough snow to absorb falling wet stuff, clean all four roofs also main path,if pickup has trouble plowing I'll bring out Ms.K and rear blade will do its thing, took walk late afternoon just about every driveway icy...not good..not good at all for some of them. :eek:we were very luck not lose power w/1/4"+ ice on everything.
Plans for today...Plow driveway, get ready once again for old man winter visit tomorrow, watch little football, and numb it.

Enjoy the day all.

I guess we are more refined, like those in the UK, and prefer a tea like beverage. I seem to not have as many PVCs with the lighter coffee, probably because less caffeine.

You may right about the caffeine, but did you know the darker the roast the lower the caffeine?

a bit of fireworks between 2 of my sons over a debate on a political/social issue that caused some hard feelings

One of my favorite memories Billie is my coming home from Brown in 1967 for Thanksgiving, all full of myself and all this new knowledge I had,
and spouting off to my very conservative WWII vet father how H Rap Brown or some other fomenter of the time really should be heard, and there was a lot of
truth in blah blah blah, and all my Father knew was burn baby burn. I got him so angry that I was genuinely worried he was going to take the long sharp turkey fork and stab
my hand with it. I sat to his right, sigh, no way to get away... Actually he never laid a hand on any of us, ever, but he had quite a temper. Sadly I pushed his buttons too often.
And on that Thanksgiving, it was almost one button too many. I hope the brothers realize you can't agree on everything and treasure the relationship.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Interestingly I went on to be a fairly rare white guy black studies minor. Read all the Black literature.
Really think my Father would have rather me learned to quote Shakespeare instead. Which I never could. Instead I can quote from Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man.
My other minor was psychology. The combination of the two gave me/still gives me some insight into how a minority feels.
And now living in the South I see how divided we are along racial lines. Progress is slow and folks want their grievances heard. As have the women.
Interesting times. Trying to avoid politics here, sometimes it's hard.

Christmas everywhere should be a day of Peace. I hope it is. All those children going in harm's way, may they not worry for a few days. We take so much for granted that much of the world can't. And we are all equal children under God. Or so I understood it, and may the spirit of Christmas spread Peace and human rights.

Merry Christmas to Larro also. Lot of others.

time to make some bacon nitrosamines...actually I really do try not to burn it. Some folks use up a lot of paper towels and microwave bacon.

Merry Christmas guys, I wish you all the best, you have been great therapy for me. Gotta go get the cats toys today, forgot all about it and Lynn would not be happy. I will drop a check at the homeless shelter since I didn’t go shopping for them this year.

38 outside this AM. Looks to be partly cloudy here in NYC.
First off, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. We feel surrounded by goodness these past few days. I decorated our room a little yesterday. That brought some smiles and cheer. The nurses and doctors are also displaying their holiday spirit. I donned my Santa hat over my camouflage hat. Bad hair for me. I really need a shower. But I travel well so at least I look good. Lol. Wife stood up yesterday a few times. Lots of tubes removed too. Only a central line and hand IVs remain. Our goals are pain management and arm strength. She needs a special way to get up and the arms are where it's at.

I hope all have done their Christmas shopping. And, sincerely, Merry Christmas.

Have a wonderful, joyful day today. All the best to you and your family's.

I went by the old house yesterday, it’s empty again. We lived there 28 years, raised our kids there. I pulled in the driveway and closed my eyes, my friend and I were in the living room putting together toys, kids were coming and going and Lynn was in the kitchen baking her famous cookies. Then I came home.

My 93 yo dad said he went by his home place the other day. Not too far from where he lives. He was born at home, as most were back then.
My cousin owns grandpa's farm now, has let the place rundown. He lives 3 hrs away, never visits, wont answer the phone. Only comes down to pay the taxes in person. Dad hates seeing the place run down.
I'm afraid same thing will happen to our farm. Nobody in the family wants to live there, except for me. My wife doesnt want to live there.

I'm having some issues with my surgery area, gotta try to get ahold of doctor today. He told me friday to call if i had a problem. Something is not right.

41F @ 6:15AM in Plymouth, CA. Cloudy. High 56F. Winds light and variable.

Hope the doctor can help you today, Buckeye. Holidays sure turn things upside down.

Made it to my friend’s place here outside Plymouth, a vineyard with a new shop building and lots of new grape plantings, as well as old ones. The three stops I made in the Sacramento area were busy, but not horrible, but you could tell people were trying to get their last minute shopping done. My hose liked his Don Julio, his wife hasn’t opened her present yet (a gallon of roasted sesame oil). They’re both big foodies, sheesh, the house still smells wonderful from the Italian chicken casarole he made for dinner last night. Got a start on his motorcycle maintenance yesterday afternoon with a valve adjustment, reviewing the suck, squish, bang, blow cycle and why things do the things they do. I think he understood it all, but retention is a whole ‘nuther thing! ;). More of the same today.

On the way down here yesterday I called my friend with pancreatic cancer. His wife answered and it seems he has had a couple major declines in the last week and can no longer communicate. He isn’t eating or drinking, even water, so it appears that unless he has something of a revival he won’t be with us very much longer. She seems to be holding up pretty well, offering that he’s not happy in his current condition and she sees no sence in his continued suffering. I don’t think there will be a funeral, but a celebration of life when the weather gets warm again in the spring.

My friend here and I had a little bit of a debate after dinner last night, and his son was curious about how two people with such different viewpoints can be friends. I offered that it’s OK for people to disagree and still love and respect each other, as the world is full of different viewpoints. Hope that made sense to him...

Hope, the world needs so much hope, and people acting on that hope to make the world a better place for everyone. Hope everyone’s Christmas is full of love, and hope...
